    I live in the desert. The LAST thing you want to do is put ANY animal in the garage. Garages are typically not insulated. They are much hotter than inside the house and many times even hotter than outside. This is especially true in the summer. The outside is cooler, plus you can get a breeze. This is why many people in the desert in the summer have their garages partially open. It is to cool it down and let the heat out so it is not hotter than outside.

      I will take your word that that's true where you live. Elsewhere, garages are considerably cooler than a house...and insulated.

    Thank you SO much! I live in SW Louisiana, and we have been getting temperatures above 105f. We have been keeping a fan and some water bottles in their cages luckily, we haven't seen any of them chew the water bottle. I did recently lose my doe to a heat stroke a few weeks ago luckily her babies are 8 weeks, but I was so heartbroken.

      @@chloediana919 People who keep animals for food still love and respect the animal, thus wanting the best for them up until the very end. So, losing one unexpectedly is still hard on the heart. I live in Thailand. Just got a Dutch buck and a Rex doe. Temperatures in the cool season averages 32 degrees C. At night, with fans, I can get it to just about 29 C. They get ice bottles too quite a lot. Am I sh1t out of luck for breeding? I read that they go sterile temporarily after 5 days over 28C. Thanks.

    • @Proverbs31Homestead
      @Proverbs31Homestead  2 месяца назад

      At about 85 degrees F (29ish C) male rabbits do go temporarily sterile. For this reason, people who live in hotter climates wait until a cooler season to breed.

      Solid flooring is what's harmful, keeping urine and manure near their feet and soaking into the floor. Cages made specifically for rabbits do not harm their feet. Even so, my rabbits have tiles or pieces of wood to sit on, if they wish. They literally never wish, though 😊

    Are these rabbits for meat? Is this why they're in cages? Obviously pet rabbits aren't meant to be in kept in cages because it is CRUEL and they are easy to litter train, just like a cat and so can live in the house.

    • @Proverbs31Homestead
      @Proverbs31Homestead  Год назад +2

      Please educate yourself before making comments like this. Our cages are all 16 gauge which does NOT harm rabbit feet. But even if it did, all the rabbits have something to rest their feet on: Either a wood house (small, pet rabbits) or a piece of wood...which, incidentally, they rarely choose to sit on. Our cages are all much larger than the standard, also. They are healthy, happy rabbits.
