    Great stuff Mr. JVB!
    My dad’s only rifle is a wood stocked Mossberg Patriot in .308. My dad went on his first ever elk hunt this last year while I was out of the country and couldn’t join him. I coached him through some loads to shoot and he had his rifle shooting sub-MOA out to 300 yards with some 165gr Swift Scirocco II’s. I was so proud of my dad. He dropped a nice 5x5 with one shot at 290 yards with a wicked cross wind. Mossberg Patriot did its job!

    The weatherby vanguard, weather guard bronze. That's the best rifle for the $ on the market 😉

      I have 2 vanguard II rifles in 30-06 and 7mm-08 and they're 2 of my favorite rifles. I have more expensive browning and tika rifles that are nicer but, for the money, you can't beat a vanguard.

      That is exactly the rifle i am contemplating in 7mm-08. It is primarily between that and the Tikka. I would consider an equivalent Howa, of course. I may have to, because a dealer friend told me that that Vanguard model seems to be out if stock at multiple distributors

    My new favorite channel! I have one in 7mm prc bought for black bear hunting and I absolutely love it! Put a $75 radial muzzle brake on it and it shoots like a 243! For the $400 price tag with a 3x9 redfield scope it’s a keeper! Be sure and use your hearing protection, but hey light weight, light recoil, and consistent shots, it’s a shooter!!! Thanks Joseph for the video!!!

    Honest, concise, and thoughtful review. I'm not even in the market for one, was just curious about his take. Joseph doesn't waste your time with a 45 minute video with only 10 minutes of actual content, he's a pro that gets to the point! That is good editing.

    I’m happy enough with my savage axis II. Needed a lefty and they’re the only game in town for budget rifles (with actual supply). I’ve shot a lot of sub 3/4 MOA groups and several sub 1/2 MOA. Super easy to swap in a savage target trigger spring and throw in some shims and have an excellent feeling light trigger. Filled the front of the stock with rockute and now it’s crazy solid.

    I bought the granddad of the Patriot, a new100 ATR for coyotes in .243 a dizen or so years ago and it's been a great rifle for me. Light, tough, super accurate, smooth bolt, great trigger...
    Stocks need some tlc though.
    My $500 gun I found in the used gun rack just a few years back.. for when I want to kill bigger stuff further away - 30 year old mod 70 XTR Sporter in 30-06 lol.

    Definitely great to see a very solid review on blue collar budget rifle that performs well.
    I have heard mixed reviews on the Mossberg lineup. Jim Harmer from Backfire TV had too wood 🪵 stock versions in 308 Win that was a 2 inch rifle or worse with a variety of ammo. I have heard a couple others as well.
    But I have also heard and watched folks shoot .5 MOA with that exact model there. Including Adam from Who Tee Who channel. You obviously did well with it down in Mexico 🇲🇽 on that stud Coues 🦌 . I was thinking about Colton Heward and then you mentioned him as well.
    Sadly for me and your son William it doesn’t come in left hand but at that price and weight one could make do. 🤠

      Gavin Toobe took it to fix it, and without diagnosing problems, turned it into a chassis rifle in som wildcat, thousands of dollars in parts, plus machining he did in tve replacement barrel. He got a lot of justifiable grief over that. One thing he did show was some blocky plastic spacer under the action. Possibly to help locate the magazine, but its purpose was not clear. It was obviously not rigid and could flex. Not a very solid foundation. He says he is going to put it back together in factory form and troubleshoot it from there. Should be interesting. That alone would make me hesitate to buy one, unless i could confirm that the synthetic stock does not have one. If it could be replaced with proper aluminum, that would work

      @@troy9477 I saw that video as well and was disappointed with the result. It wasn’t what was promised.
      Basically used the bare action and that’s it.
      He is going to redo everything and probably use a different action for the chassis rifle

    • @troy9477
      @troy9477 Месяц назад

      @@TheWVgoodguy22 yep. I hope so. I wanted to see the troubleshooting and the solution. My first thought was to pillar bed it and see if the bore needed lapping. Not super expensive. Test fire it, then see if the trigger needs to be replaced. The factory stock actually seemed pretty nice. I would like to see him keep it, as most shooters would do. It would be a shame to toss it in a corner to gather dust and cobwebs. Looking forward to the outcome

    Since you are the expert, and people will repeat what you say, it would be good to say things correctly. I said Couse exactly the way you did until well into adulthood. And I was saying it incorrectly. I believe it showes respect to say someone's name the way that they prefer it to be said. The man that discovered the Couse WHITETAIL deer subspieces pronounced it, so that it ryhmed with house. Some say it sounded like cows. Just my peeve. I liked the video, great info.

      Thanks for the support! I myself prefer the Mossbergs, simply because they seem to be built better. They aren’t as clunky and heavy, and their actions don’t hang up as much. Hope I answered your question!

      For the price you get what you pay for, but I’d go for the 110. I have owned both rifles. One patriot and 4 110’s. Both were accurate. But the savages felt a little less cheap to me. All my own opinions. Either will do you well. Cheers!

    • @oboylebeast
      @oboylebeast 2 месяца назад +1

      The benefit of the 110 is that you can easily upgrade it. Parts are easy to find and if you decide down the line that you want to change the caliber, it's easy enought to swap and get new aftermarket parts.
      So you can buy the model you can affort now. And over timw if you want to, make it better. But, I'm sure both rifles will do what you need it for.

    Love the channel. I’ve read a number of articles on budget rifles. My issue from my research is accuracy with the Mossberg Patriot. Barrels are thinner and heat up quick, thus leading to fliers. The CVA Cascade for $60 more might be an option who might be making this decision in real time. Full transparency I haven’t shot either as I’m a fan of Tikkas. They used to be a better value, however their prices have jumped over the past several years. Great content!
