These videos are so helpful! Just started my '93 rebuild. Currently trying to unfreeze the manifold to downpipe bolts since it's straight piped after a cat theft
There were three 1FZ's available in the Land Cruiser. There is the 1FZ-F with 190hp (carburator), the 1FZ-FE with 212hp and the later updated 1FZ-FE with 240hp (available in the 105-series etc).
The engine seems kinda ehhhh. 190hp? The jeep 6-inline with push rods gets 190hp without need dual over head cams. Simpler engine doing the same thing getting same reliability just much easier to work on, and less sensors
@@oscarbear7498 Did you take the short bus to school? You're comparing a multiport fuel injected engine against a carburator engine. The carburator 1FZ-F with 190hp was never offered in the US instead the US got the fuel injected version, the 1FZ-FE with 212hp, which is the engine you see in this video. For comparison the last carburator Wrangler was the YJ with the 4.2 L AMC 258 inline-6 rated at 112hp.
I love 6-inline engines but the dual overhead cam looks so much work without need and not much gain. Im not sure why 2 cams if you'll never see the RPM to take advantage of its speed in air intake vs push rods. Maybe fuel economy thing. Great video btw, i dig the style & detail you focus on, and warninga on not making costly mistakes:)
When I tore down the 350K-mile motor in my '96 LC the bearings looked pretty similar. Good video! Make SURE the shop doesn't hot-tank the block - the acid will eat up the brass oil pump bushing. I don't think Wit's End stocks them anymore and I don't know whether the others on the market are good or not.
Awesome video mate, I have a 96 fzj80 here in Australia. She is getting on in age a bit but It's the best car I've ever owned and being honest probably the best one I ever will.
Some great content over here! I would love to have a power point of the process 😅 I am a mercedes sedan guy, but i started looking for a car that will save me in case of critical conditions like the apocalypse and stuff… All my research led me to this car with this “bulletproof” engine. So thank you for this combined knowledge my friend. I will definitely check out your channel 🙏 Greetings from Switzerland
I really thought about it but I’m seeing a lot of people have issues with the 93-94 OBD1 motors and boost due to tuning troubles. Would have to switch to a standalone ecu
I saw a Lexus Lx450 mint condition. The guy is the original owner. Had no rust. The interior was like new. So wild. I begged him to let me buy it when he wants to sell it. He said Hale no! The new ones are too weak. 😢
This thing runs now!

Excellent video, I think my favorite thing about older Toyota engines is the simplicity of the timing components. Minus the timing guide of course 😅
Thanks man!

Fantastic work buddy! I’m currently restoring a 1997 with a full tear down as well. Fun times!!
Thanks!
My 94 Land cruiser I'm the third owner and it has 533,000 original miles on it it just flowed a head gasket so now time to rebuild ❤️💪😛🤙😎

Such a great video. Clear. Concise. Lots of information.
This is how you do it.
Really really appreciate it!

Nice! Yeah I told them not to use a caustic solution to clean it. If it comes back messed up, Yota1 and Landtank sell the bushing.

The old school of TOYOTA engine engineering , unbeatable and you can rely on them totally. I got to know some engines with more than 500 000 km.
Awesome! Planning the same job on my 1994 FZJ80. Best!!/Hans Sweden!!
Thanks! Good luck.
Awesome video mate. Quality editing and shots. Keen to see the build come together. All the way from Australia 🇦🇺
Thank you!! Wish we had your powertrain over here for the 80 series!
@@RM_Garage Myself included mate, Turbo Diesel 80s with 400,000kms are still selling for 40k Aud. Car markets bananas over here.
So much good info in this video. Love the detail and tips!

It’s bulletproof, but it won’t get you very far with its 11mpg mileage haha. Invest in an auxiliary fuel tank
Love the video! I feel like if youre gonna tear it down, might as well build it for boost 😉

my favorite part was removing the coolant pipe that goes to the heater. That was the best.
Beautiful
Thanks!
THIS IS SO AWESOME! Do you happen to have the bolt size that you mounted to the engine stand?
I *think* they are m12x1.25 and 3.5 - 4” long. Best way is to take your bellhousing bolt to the hardware store and find something similar.
Love the way he praises Toyota engineering while pulling down an oil soaked engine with a chain tensioner/guide failure and a cracked block......
Haha! I mean it was still running with all those issues right? Lol. Thanks for watching
Give me another car with a snapped timing guide and a cracked block that you could beat on like a 80 series Land Cruiser
What paint marker do you use?
They are just standard paint pens from Amazon called “yellow paint markers pens”. Sorry I can’t be of more help. They come in a 6 pack.
新品部品は入手可能なのですか?
廃盤部品も多いと聞きます
Liked 🎉500🎉 now good work
Can you send me the link how to remove engine from 80 series please
ruclips.net/video/TFUpCGZpwbY/видео.html
It’s crazy to me that a in-line 6 only gets 11-13 mpg
Did you have a clanky rattling noise with the bad timing chain guide??
Not at all, surprisingly. The engine was dead quiet.
👍
Imagine throwing a turbo in this guy.
I wish, but would require standalone engine management. It's an OBD1 (93-94) 1FZ...they're known to be hard to tune :(
@@RM_Garage Oh.. Thats sad and true. Maybe in another project? 😉
