  • @ajreberjr
    @ajreberjr 3 месяца назад +8

    I have lived in Ghana for over a year and a half now ... the people are great.. for the most part super friendly .. however .. on time is not in the plans, things are planned for a re-active experience, not a pro-active. When building, it is done close to good, electricity, plumbing, floors, doors, almost square walls, etc. However I am living in Accra as a expat, retired from the USA and it is still interesting to be the only white face in the area... lol .. I still like living here, and will continue to get used to not so cold winters.

    • @ajreberjr
      @ajreberjr Месяц назад

      @MelaninisaSemiConductor lol, a long story.. I was looking on a Religion dating site for my Nephew as he was 28, living at home with his folks and not dating. figured I would help him and was taken by this photo and small story of a woman living in Accra Ghana .. then said to myself, she is too good for my Nephew. clicked the page and moved on as I was thinking to myself... dang it.. I hate being more mature and single. a small voice said go back and just send her a message, let her decide. by that time i had to go back two pages and then sent her a small note. *nice photos and profile* I, did not think much more about it but 2 days later I got a reply of about 3 paragraphs and we ended up becoming friends .. we talked for almost 4 years before we met and after arriving in Ghana after 8 months on the island of Grenada, we really got along and got married in Dec of 23.
      So, for me Ghana is different, I grew up on a farm, worked as a Fruit Tramp, *means following the harvest* worked in Arizona and California, both states in the USA. Did not always have a room to sleep in but did have a car and got a paycheck every week when working. Sometimes I feel like there is a white tax, that I am charged more because I am white and I suppose that it means I have more money, my retirement is very good, tho major medical will have to take me back to the US for the important things .. in 4 years it will be time to get a new pacemaker. thank you for your reply back and the questions.

    • @ajreberjr
      @ajreberjr Месяц назад

      @MelaninisaSemiConductor interesting questions. Retirement income for one, it is good but not that good and the exchange rate for Dollar to Cedi means that I can afford more here in Ghana than I could in say .. Switzerland. I help out Gramma, an Auntie, a sister, a brother.. lol, I don't mind it but do have to keep things in control. having things too easy is a curse, you don't appreciate the things that you do have and look at what you don't have and want more and more. bigger house, fancier car, upgrade the wife or husband. Me, I have always tried to be humble, not full of the I am so great... LOL . I am great.. but prefer to be one who just is kind and polite. I probably should have gone to a South American country but as a kid going to the movies .. Africa seemed more adventuresome and I am too young to put away adventures ... I turn 73 next month, have out lived my younger brothers and feel like I will make it to 84 or 85.
      I try to be a good man, make good decisions and help others to do the same. as too why more white people don't move to Africa ??? ... too afraid to throw a stone in a glass house I suppose. I would like to get to Kenya and a few other countries in Africa, but Ina got typhoid about 3 months ago and is still suffering the effects of that. May God bless you in your coming week ..

    Where I am in the USA, which is pretty urbanized, there are still a lot of dirt roads once you go beyond a certain point and it’s not the worst. I have been to other countries where they were a nightmare like in Cambodia. It once took 10 hours to go 100 KM.

    I personally think Africa is more suitable for people that really want to get into homestead living.Live on the land,chase your chicken and goat in the backyard, have a garden rather than looking to be high flying city boy or girl.That way,people won't be too disappointed with the lack of what they might be used to in the west.The people that are disappointed in Africa are mostly those that still want to continue the rat race but in the sunshine,then they quickly realise mama africa does not roll like that,she takes her time!😅
    Talk of bad roads,it baffles me why more Africans dont use motorbikes,especially Adventures,(ADV) bikes? Looking at the bad state of the roads in most places and the beautiful,sunny weather most times,motorbikes would make sense.And it's even cheaper to run and maintain,compared to cars with bigger engines..
    I hope and pray African leaders would come to their senses and do the right things for the love of motherland and consciousness. Always a pleasure🤸 to see you beautiful queen jasmine. Sending you love!❤🙏

    Ohemaa Fɛɛfɛ, I disagree with some of your statements. I assume you were born in Ghana or visited the country a few times prior to your immigration, so living in an advanced country doesn't mean you should forget about the local lifestyle and customs. Furthermore, if you are unable to adapt to the infrastructure in certain areas of Ghana, you should consider purchasing, building, or renting in a location that better suits your preferences, such as your previous country of residence. Even here in the U.S., life is hard, so give Ghana a break. By the way, you are a sweet person, and I do not intend to disparage you; I am simply being forthright.
