Ghana is often referenced as the safest country in Africa. While neighbouring and nearby countries experience political unrest, Ghana remains relatively peaceful. There are several videos and articles that share the positives of living in Ghana and how it can offer a new way of life to people.

My name is Jasmine and I have relocated from Sydney Australia to Ghana in west Africa as of the year 2020.
My parents are of Ghanaian descent and so am I although I was born in Australia. Here on my channel, my goal is to give you a real glimpse into what it’s like to live in Ghana and other parts of Africa, from the food, to the culture, to the lifestyle and everything in between. My goal is to satisfy your curiosity about Ghana and other African countries.
My prayer is that these videos do just that for several African’s in the diaspora.
Follow your bliss because life is short, follow your bliss because human life has no intrinsic value, follow your bliss because everything happens for the greater good and follow your bliss because it has all happened before.
Be careful of buying property in Ghana. They sell the same land to multiple people and there is no regulation. Giving a year's worth of rent is a gamble. You have to make sure they own the property just as when you seek home ownership. This place is more expensive than people think if they want to live the same lifestyle they lived in the USA or abroad. Don't come here if you are broke and have no recurring income.

I watched you from Ohio as a Ghanaian. You have summed it up all perfectly. This video is a textbook example for Diasporans to learn from before moving to any part of Africa temporarily or permanently. Africa is home to all black people. Home sweet home.

After school, she sometimes invited me to her home, her mom held a restaurant... but growing up, travelling for studies overseas we lost each other years ago (...). Anyway, today I also plan to come back to our sweet home and prospect as well for anywhere interesting place over there, and wish everyone in the way welcome, we're all brothers and Africa belong to us.

I’m 66 and even the elderly Ghanaian women are closed off to embarking on meaningful relationships, unless you are spending your money on them or their family members. Too many people in general beg for money, like I’m just dripping with it. I’m building a house there but I wish I had waited and experienced more interactions with the people, because I would not have built there. Ghana is a great place to visit for African Americans, but in my opinion, it’s not ready for many of us to relocate there!! Ghanaian’s (many, not all), don’t take things seriously because they don’t employ critical thinking skills. Great video!!

THANK YOU Jasmine for sharing the truth! I'm so tired of RUclipsrs spewing the propaganda of "Every Day is a Holiday in Ghana " I moved from the States and had horrible experiences. We run a free school for 200 kids in Ashaiman. Even though we are giving free education the locals don't appreciate it. The more you give the more they take. We were targeted and had our house broken into twice. We lived in Tema. I decided to just focus on helping make the community build. I am a grant writer and business consultant so I started helping SMEs and NGOs with capacity building training and finding venture capital from Western investors to scale their businesses. But I left the country last year. I'm coming back in August to launch a nurse project that will put nurses into the 30,000 private schools. I'll just go back and forth between the States and the States. 😊

This is a sincere assessment and summary...Ghana needs your help as diasporaians ...you can become a force that can change the current trajectory...impose those positive qualities...insist on excellence...inasmuch mediocrity is becoming an undesirable culture...a change will be a relief to all living in Ghana 🇬🇭
As much as I’d love to live in Ghana, I cannot live anywhere with unreliable modern technologies(lights, clean water everywhere I go, reliable internet service, and road systems. 😢Governments without a strong unregulated military presence…etc. it’s still one of the most beautiful countries in the world

#4 was my worst experience as well. It wasn't just one incident unfortunately for me. It was constant from the police harassing us for money to anytime I would go out wanting to make friends, it turned out just to be about money for them. Very sad mindset! My husband is from Ghana. Just wanting to relax and make friends is extremely difficult. You can't really open up and talk about anything because then people don't respect you according to how my husband explained his culture to me. I get the impression many think that just because we are from the West were automatically extremely rich and owe them. There are also some very sweet people, too.
I don’t think its because Ghanaians don’t respect people from the diaspora. I think its because a certain picture has been painted about the west and everything associated with it. So they assume everyone associated with it is coming from the fancy places seen in movies, music videos and even the news sometimes. The well traveled ones think a little differently

Ghana is my little peace of paradise. The only place that comes close is Barbados in my opinion. I agree with everything you said in the video. There is loads of room for improvement, but Ghana is special.

Thanks for sharing these rather useful tips about living in ghana. The bit about driving at night is especially important. The road accidents in the country tend to be fatal. It's therefore advisable to be forewarned.
Two times I almost got into a near fatal crashes at night. Both times the Uber driver fell asleep 🤦🏾♂️.

Ive probably watched 100s of youtube vlogs about Ghana. Ghana always looks shiny and instagramable, but many of these vloggers rarely tell the whole truth about life here. Its so tightly curated; they omit so much about life here, it borders on deception. The clubs, the hotels, a fantasy Ghana.
The distance between Instagram Ghana and the way most Ghanaians live is very wide and you are one of the very few vloggers who consistently addresses this. Sorry for the essay, but Thank You!

You are very informative. I have been there, and you are spot on. I have gone south to CAPETOWN. I couldn't find potholes. I open bank accounts in 30 minutes. And I bought a condo in a week. Ghana just didn't do it for me. I experienced almost everything you described.... All the best!

Ghana is so overhyped. In reality there are far too many other African countries offering so much more. Love Gh though. Give it maybe 10 more years.

You are speaking the Truth. In my experience in vacation' in Ghana sometimes as long as 4 weeks, I was always able to make money for transportation and Chop Chop. I even tried to set others up in business only to never see any rewards 🙄

With number 12 hard truth issue, that can be a plus also moving to Ghana. If your moving to another country and you have an idea of starting a business, create business ideas that is lack their or has limited amount of access, so now your filling the gaps to build the country.

Great video Jasmine. The last point is spot on. The healthcare delivery system is atrocious. The system sort of works marginally better if you are ready to grease a whole lot of elbows. The economy and survivability in Ghana is built on the system not functioning

This was a very informative video. I came to many of the same conclusions that you did. Now, I didn’t experience this during my 3 week vacation in 2019, but many people who lived there said that they have to pay bribes to the police to get past a roadblock or to the government clerks to get their paperwork processed. Have you experienced this? If so, I would like you to talk about it in a follow up video.

Yes, you have to change and adapt. And I think coming from the diaspora you also have to keep in mind things will not always be as efficient so patience is important. Do not expect things to happen quickly!

I lived in Komenda for 3 years (1964-67) as a child (8-11). Liked the beach but very isolating. Video hard to hear. Lots of background noise but glad you made it regardless.

@@JasmineAmaa I get your point. However, I still think it is easier to do in Ghana, and Africa in general, compared to the West. I've lived with my American neighbors for 20+ years and I only know the name of one guy and it's not for lack of effort. In fact, there's a couple who wouldn't even respond when we say hello and it's not because of any conflict/problem between us.
It is SO LOUD. NYC is not even that loud.
If you want to relax, Ghana is the place to be.
Scammers are everywhere in Africa. I think an active awareness program needs to be implemented for the diaspora.

Great vid. Thank you for your honesty about moving to and living in Ghana. People need to do their research about migrating to Ghana (or any other country). It isn't all sunshine, beaches and jollof rice. LOL
Many people in the west take what we have for granted and a lot of western black people have very naive views of Africa (in terms of the cultures, the people's looks, etc).

I like your sincerity, most RUclipsrs out here made it seems like grass is greener in Ghana without pointing out the potential challenges people may face while visiting especially people from diaspora who are use to a working system. though as an African i always know life is not as beautiful as most RUclipsrs project it to be in Ghana, pls don’t get me wrong Ghana is peaceful and a beautiful country but it has its own challenges too. Don’t plan living in Ghana permanently without having a solid plans on how to bring in some income while over there, and another great point you made was about having a beautiful business ideas thinking it will work in Ghana just as it’s working in the west, me personally, that has been my huge concern because i have all these great business ideas but i always ask myself, are these ideas going to work in Ghana.

Ghanaians that have not traveled out don't really know what they have, when it comes to the peace they enjoy...
This is true but I wouldn’t say its just Ghanaians. Most of the time you can get comfortable wherever u live so its hard to compare anything until u move out of explore other places.
