@@briantuma1502 I was part of that swagger-1980- the "Glory Years" when we were top three in prelims-tied for high percussion and 2nd in brass. Marching score kept us from the top spot. What a well performed show. i had heard parts of it in the past and was unsure. but it has absolutely blown my mind and become one of my favorites. Personally I’ve fancied myself a good BD fan. But spirit has very quickly become one of my favorites as well. Give Spirit a few more years and they’ll make top 3 at the very least I think.
Okay wait a minute. First time watching this show all the way through. You're telling me THIS didn't make Finals?? How? This show blew me out of the water.
@@Ryan-dz7mg Every corps busts their ass. Terrible visual design, terrible props, terrible uniforms, subpar musical design. Regiment should not have been in finals.
I really might audition. I'm a mellophone player of one year and really want to march my age-out year, and since I saw Bottletree and Georgia on my mind for the first time last night, this group has really caught my eye. Good music, lots of actual cool drill (call me a boomer but I like to see more drill and less running), and it looks like a passionate group. I'm kind of a BK fan, this is really good though. Any alums wanna weigh in?
i’m gonna start playing mello so i can audition for them. according to my drum majors, section leaders, and even our director, i’m a talented marcher and an excellent player, but i play clarinet so i’m gonna switch for my second marching test i think
@@maddiebee5566 sadly spirit wont be marching next season. Something happened between a minor corps member and someone over 18, so they opted out this upcoming season, but there are some other great dci corps that you could march! also, I play clarinet too :) good luck!
The only thing I can agree with the old heads was the uniforms were a lil odd lol, i personally disliked them. But this show defo should’ve made finals that year. Go spirit!
What has happened to Spirit.. This is not the corps I marched.. their shows have been... off the wall since my time there.. a bunch of random ideas thrown into a mixed pot with a random name slapped on it to give it a title.. what is the direction of this corps?
@@williammyslajek5196 Life of the party actually. Fact check. Secondly, simply stating facts. You can’t argue scores and placement now can you? Just for clarification and not to be taken out of context, In no way am I knocking the time and effort put into the show by the members of the corps. This is mainly aimed at the staff being they control the direction, show, style etc etc. Vet here 2011-2013. That’s the Spirit the Corps needs to get back to. I said what I said 🤷🏾♂️
@@jamalcarter4614 I like some of the ideas that they put in this show, I just feel like they're throwing these great ideas into this mediocre piece surrounding it, when they need to use these as the basis for the piece in general. For example, that idea at around 2:46 with the high brass was pretty well executed as well as what I thought was fitting for both the story and the music at hand, but meshed together with the stuff at 4:09, where the synth doesn't match what the corps is playing at all, it feels iffy. Definitely feel like there's a lot with the show's musical direction that can be improved, as well as the staff stressing cleanliness of the brass more. Some of the stuff in this show was pretty poorly executed, and if you can't get that better, then try to center a show more around the percussion, which is where the group is doing pretty good at. Coming from a 14 year old

Don’t mind these old people, you guys are killing it, this show is hype as hell all the way through!
I remember Spirit’s swagger from the late 70s & early 80s. I get the same feeling now but in a different way.

Love when corps release videos of their shows! This is one of my favorites, SoA is officially *based*!
Aged actually so bad, oh my god this might be the most unfortunate comment I’ve ever seen
The moment at 4:29 is just amazing sound from the brass. It's my favorite moment in the show!

it. Thanks for posting.
The more I watch this show, the more I enjoy it.
Love love love this show!! Great recording but it doesn’t do justice to the live performance!! Proud, and maybe a bit jealous, alum!!
You get em Glenn!!!
Love seeing this show !!!!!
the cymbal visuals during the drum break are EASILY my favorite part of the whole show
Love the show. Miss the Delta. I know. I'm ol school.
It was there in the drill a couple times.
Great hornline this year
