All I wish for is using the correct term for the knots. Macrame which came from fishing knots using the same terminology - what you are doing here is a half-hitch knot. A right or left half-hitch knot makes a "flat" knot, a series of right or left half-hitches gives the knot a twisting motion.
I’m really really really happy that your video got put in my recommended!!! I’ve been making bracelets since I was 12, I’m now 20, and this is a whole world of bracelet making I never knew!! Like holy I’m so excited to make new patterns and bracelets with all the info I’ve gotten from your channel! 💙
Hi! I use a binder to secure my bracelet once I have a loop. I'll just open one of the rings and loop it on there. Works perfectly and gives me a nice flat surface to work on.
One of the most detailed and helpful tutorial video, for "how to start a bracelet". Thank you for showing us the way to do this loop. The talent you have, for decoding the pattern, is amazing!!! Congratulations!!!
I’m so glad I watched this video. I’ve been making bracelets for almost 15 years and this tutorial finally taught me how to segment knot!!! I never thought I’d be able to understand it, but here I am. My days of reading patters row by row and getting lost, losing steam, and taking forever are over. Thanks for all your work and sharing your skill!
I have a lot of trouble finding somewhere comfortable to knot. I have a bad back, so I usually pull a chair up to a tall dresser and tape my bracelet around eye level. It also reduces tangles to have to strings dangle.
This is so cool! I thought it would be impossibly hard, but after your explanation, it looks very doable :D I've always started my bracelets with an unbraided loop and a knot, and ended them with a simple braid, and then wrapped the loop onto/around the braid so that I could move the "wrapped loop" up and down the braid and make the bracelet on my wrist loose or tight, but tbh the teardrop loop looks so much cooler :D Thanks!
These videos are inspiring. Especially, at a time when we have to stay home. My daughter and I have started a new hobby of bracelet making together. Thank you!
After you do the teardrop, the bottom comes to a point and makes a v shape. you can continue to knot down the v towards the middle (which i find easiest and the best looking) , or you could go row by row, or you can segment knot it , which she made a video on how to segment knot on her channel :)
to secure your bracelets. i got a clipboard and cut little notches at the bottom just using a pair of scissors. the notches hold the strings so i can make knots without the other strings getting in the way!
I used to make simple friendship bracelets when I was younger but since they are so popular now and there are so many different designs I’m getting back into it and learning the best designs (in my opinion) I’m so excited to learn
I recently “rediscovered” making friendship bracelets when I volunteered at a summer camp…needless to say, I’m just as I seeded now as I was back in Middle school lol thank you for all of your videos! They’ve been greatly helpful as I’m learning many many new things :)
I just found this channel and am loving it! I teach a string art class at a summer camp (friendship bracelets, kumihimo, plastic lacing, and tapestry weaving), and these are definitely going to open up my repertoire! I just started a fishbone chevron and it is going quite well. I like this teardrop loop technique as well. Concerning attaching bracelets while working on them, all of my students get a binder clip to take with them. They can then clip their projects to their backpacks, water bottles, or anything else. It is very effective and doesn't wear out like tape does. I'm also planning on making a QR code to your channel to give to my students for if they want to try out more types of bracelets at home.
I love how satisfying and easy your tutorials are to watch! I've been so curious on how to start my bracelets so this was very helpful :) Keep up the awesome content!
I often do my bracelets on a quite “firm“ pillow. So to secure it I just use a safety pin. That works quite well 🙃 Btw. Your channel just got recommendet to me. The 30 minute Video where you showed all your bracelets. The last two bracelets were my favorite because they gave me an Idea what I can do for my boyfriend for his birthday or Christmas or something :) Definitely subscribed, love the videos❤
I’ve been making bracelets for quite some time now. I usually just start out with braids or the simple loop. It wasn’t until recently I’ve come across this as a way to start bracelets. This is by far the most helpful video I’ve come across! I usually only do forward knots and even though I’ve secured my bracelet it some how kept going into a staircase pattern. I never thought of doing forward backwards and I think that might help me! Thank you for always making such informative and helpful videos! 💘
Oh! This is much easier than the other method to make this that I've seen previously, thanks. Also, I secure my bracelets by sticking the loop through the handle of my drawer and putting a pen through the loop so it stays there.
So satisfying to watch... the twisted thread is my favorite string to work with.. embroidery floss is okay but not the best. I love that bracelet Masha! Great video..👍🏻
Wow this is the best video for this❤️ esp when you arranged the knots in the color you need it. I always get a weird gap at the beginning but I don’t anymore doing this method!
i thought this was so difficult but its actually the opposite! lol i love your channel, I've recently gotten back into making bracelets and your vids are so helpful! :D
Audrey-ana Tent-chip At 11:52 you could continue doing the V shape but every row will have one less knot to do because you are stopping at the row with the last orange knot to make it horizontal. After it’s horizontal you can knot row by row.
So, when you do the triangle shape after the teardrop, do you continue the pattern as normal? I mean, you continue the row that follow the triangle shape, is that right? I want to do this teardrop shape on my bracelets but it's confusing for me how to continue after making the V shape :(
Cyb3rgirl You could continue doing the V shape but every row will have one less knot to do because you are stopping at the row with the orange knot to make it straight.
@@xXcraftlovinggalXx but if u continue doing the v shape like working from the side into the middle, isn't that gonna change the pattern of ur bracelet?
I used to use a safety pin and would attatch it to my jeans or a scarf that i would wrap around my leg or through the back spokes of a kitchen chair if i didn't want to make holes in my clothes
This is a late comment but I’ve just discovered your channel and it’s been so helpful :) I secure my bracelets either using a binder clip or (I’m going to try to explain this bear with me) a cardboard thingy which on the top has two cuts to put the loop or braids around and on the bottom has many many cuts/slits for organizing the threads. It’s a little longer than a complete bracelet length and it’s really convenient because I don’t need to secure that to anything else. Sorry that was long and probably confusing 😅 Thanks again for all your videos, it really is a whole new world of bracelet making
I have wanted to try this for so long! Every video I've seen or pic I've looked up are confusing. I feel like they don't give enough detail. After watching this I think I'm ready to give it a try! Your video is awesome!!
I use the loop idea similar to yours but I never used the triangle idea!! It looks so cool thanks for sharing! And by the way from my experience you can still use an odd number of strings.
Something I've learned from watching fingerloop braiding videos is to screw a hook or hammer a small nail into a board. You can then hook you project onto the hook/nail and work from there. It gives you freedom to rotate left and right and you can easily slip your bracelet off at any time to check it. My question is how much extra is some extra? Like how much longer do you typically make the teardrop string? A quarter meter, a meter, more?
Thank you so much for that knowledge on the tear drop! I've been doing that but couldn't quite get the string positions right unless I just did a classic chevron! Can't wait to try on other patterns :)
Could you show how you continue making the bracelet after making the loop Also I secure mine by using a metal clip and the box I keep all my strings in, before I used a clipboard but eventually it stopped working for me.
Tbh i don't know if I'm just stupid, but i don't quite understand what the loops are for? Do you pull the ties through the loop? If so, then how exactly do they stay in place? Or are they decoration or hook on to key chains maybe?
I usually use a clipboard, but a lot of the clips that clipboards have, I find just aren’t strong enough, or versatile enough for me, so I typically flip it and use binder clips. I can move the binder clip at different angles and it clamps down pretty hard. But this hurts my back because clipboards are smaller and it’s difficult to use on a flat top unless you put weights on it. So I end up leaning over it a lot. But, I’m going to be getting a macrame board (which is much bigger) and using pins to hold the bracelet down to see how it works.
I’m not understanding how to keep going after the video ends in the pattern do I keep going in the tear way right below the highlighted part in the video or do I go straight in a line?
I love this tutorial!! Will definitely be using this loop going forward! Do you have any advice on how to make your bracelet horizontal again rather than following the v shape?
as I understand it you'd have to finish the horizontal rows of knots until you reach the top of the v and then you could continue horizontally, but I don't fully trust me I'm also just a beginner.
Hi Masha! I secure mi bracelets with a clipboard, but before I used strong'n big clippers, one of them smaller, and the bigger one clipped on to a table... perfect 🔥
I hiiiighly suggest a bulletproof clipboard. They're heavy, so great for tension, and the clasps hold your bracelet super tight. I literally can't live without mine. It's also impossible to break it. So... Yeah. It's an amazing investment.
I started making these bracelets in the 80s and was taught to make a knot at the top then put on a safety pin and pin it to a pillow then put the pillow on my lap. You could pin it to anything.
This video is the best..helped me so much since i am still beginner in this bracelet..definitely will subscribe and look up for you upcoming videos..😍😍
I use a bunch of left over threads from an old bracelet and hook them around the start of the loop and then pinch the loose ends together under the clipboard. It works pretty well for me but idk if I explained it very well
Hi Masha, Is there a way you can make a teardrop loop without the extra strings showing when you're using the straight edges technique? Thank you for your time.
They make “macrame boards” with long needles that have notches so you can separate out individual strings! I found a vintage one that had never been used at a thrift store for super cheap!
I use a piece of cardboard with slits cut in it. If the bracelet starts with a loop, then I just slip a short length of string through it, knot it, and slide that into the cardboard slit at the top. The knot keeps it from pulling through. Then I can keep all my strings in order by using the many bottom and side slits.
i created a teardrop loop following your tutorial... i also did a triangle end as well...i dont know how to send it to u but its a nice tutorial! i actually used the same technique to create a loop before even finding your videos on you tube
I am new two patern bracelets and I hav efound your channel. It’s really helpful and I know this video was posted a year ago but where do you buy this type of thread?
To secure bracelets I always cut out a rectangle of cardboard, cut a slit at the top, than as many as I need at the bottom. Then I stick the top of the bracelet in the top slit and arrange the other strings in the bottom ones
how did you continue the bracelet? did you continue doing it in a 'v' shape? and if not can you make a tutorial on how to even it out and make it horizontal? thank you so much! you are very helpful!
She said that you can make a normal flat/ even pattern without the teardrop part, just don't tie off your colors like she dies when she shows the v pattern. You will have the loop without the v shape.
I use what I call a bracelet broad. So it is a piece of wood that has nails in it to loop around and you can clip a binder clip to it and do it that way too.
I've been watching a TON of videos about friendship bracelets because I've been wanting to try an advance my skills a little bit! I've been watching a ton of your videos and I'm IMPRESSED! I always thought that the teardrop loop was difficult, but it's WAYYY easier than I thought! Thanks for this awesome tutorial, Masha!!! Although, I am a bit confused. What about the part of the pattern before the v shape?!?!

Hi Masha, Is there a way you can make a teardrop loop without the extra strings showing when you're using the straight edges technique? Thank you for your time.
I use i-loom it's actually great you can sit down and make your braclets and also get pattens
I found that I-loom didn’t have that many patterns and they didn’t have any alpha patterns. I found better patterns on Pinterest and RUclips.
Literally changed my knotting foreverr. But QUESTION!!!! Do u know the best way to gigure out how much string is needed per bracelet?
this double color loop is so nice! and the tutorial is realy helpful thanks!
She's not ignoring you apparently you're just irrelevant or she died, not sure which 😎
They make “macrame boards” with long needles that have notches so you can separate out individual strings! I found a vintage one that had never been used at a thrift store for super cheap!
I find that using a macrame board&pins help to secure the bracelets very well. You can get them quite cheap on ebay or amazon
I use a binder clip to secure my bracelet! I clip the binder clip onto a book or notebook.
U probably won’t answer but what do u after the loop. Do u do It straight down like normal or what?? Love ur vids

I use a binder clip and clip the loop onto a notebook thank you for the tutorial it was so good :)
a clipboard works so good to hold it in place!
I secure the very simple loop with my pop socket on my phone case. For teardrop loops I use the safety pin method
I am new two patern bracelets and I hav efound your channel. It’s really helpful and I know this video was posted a year ago but where do you buy this type of thread?
I got mine at Micheal's but you can get it anywhere really. Search for embroidery floss or craft thread
To secure bracelets I always cut out a rectangle of cardboard, cut a slit at the top, than as many as I need at the bottom. Then I stick the top of the bracelet in the top slit and arrange the other strings in the bottom ones
I'm so glad I found you and your videos!!!
Welcome! :)
how did you continue the bracelet? did you continue doing it in a 'v' shape? and if not can you make a tutorial on how to even it out and make it horizontal? thank you so much! you are very helpful!
She said that you can make a normal flat/ even pattern without the teardrop part, just don't tie off your colors like she dies when she shows the v pattern. You will have the loop without the v shape.
@@gigart thank you, haha but i kind of gave up making bracelets a long time ago haha
@@sachisuperstar what a pity, im just getting back into it myself
@@gigart ik! im going to get back into it too! thank you for commenting! cause now im going to start again!
