Their line of Promaster, whether the diving watches or the navi/night hawk series are among all the coolest watches out there.
@Truthfears Guilty Maybe as a brand, I think I agree with you. I do think they might have a different market. I've heard Asians say that many of their watches are very much prized for in their countries. The flight watches they make; Navihawk/Nighthawk have huge cult followings and strong collector's. That Eco drive tech is out of this world I have one of those working non stop for the last 18 years and being powered by dim indoor lighting most of the time.
I bought my titanium citizen pro master automatic in 1998. It’s Myota movement has been serviced once in 22 years. I’ve dropped it a few times, swam in the sea with it many times, it’s taken everything thrown at it and never let me down. It was fitted with a sapphire crystal when it was serviced as they couldn’t get hold of a replacement original one, no extra charge. Better looking than any dive watch before or since in my opinion.
Great informative and detailed review of this Citizen Fugu (I just clicked on 'Subscribed'). I find this more solid than a SKX. All points are on what it should be on a mechanical watch unlike Seiko, a misaligned bezel leaves a scar to Seiko. Pardon me, I do love Seiko as well and really do hope they buck up on the infamous misaligned bezel. FYI, there are newer Fugu already out swimming in Asian waters...
Hey Lee, welcome aboard thanks for there sub. As for the newer Fugu yes I heard that there were new models out, hopefully some may find their way here to the channel for review soon. I too am a keen Seiko fan, but I see that this Citizen is a better proposition than the now retired SKX, I still have an SKX in the collection :) Thanks again, cheers
And it is very precise. Mine is 1 second off after 3 months of ownership. The lume is brilliant, the alignment of dial, chapter ring and bezel is spot on. There is some serious engineering behind that watch. Unbeatable at that price level. Great stuff indeed.
I have tons of Citizen watches as they have a lot of GMT'S. They are ignored by the snob watch community because of their technology. Most people don't know they make automatic watches! Lovely watch!the bracelet is so well done. They are better than Seiko on the straps. The lume is class leading You can firm up the bezel with the spring. Mine all have milled clasps far better than that
Iv'e always heard that Citizen has been underrated and really hasn't got the praise it deserved over the years. Pretty much living in the shadow of Seiko. And yes the bracelet is really so much better on this than my Seiko SKX stock cheers
Many Thanks for the review, I believe citizen could add hacking, increase reserve time to 60 hours, add Sapphire Crystal and include a more advanced time system, to make this Watch a Legendary Dive Watch, even if the price is increased a little bit.

i got the watch with red bazel model. overall its a very good watch for the price. definitely much more comfortable than seiko king turtle for me. i dont scratch the crystal yet,but yet my seiko 5 is already got a scratch. bracelet definitely feels much solid than seiko.
I have NY 0040 on Borealis Boavista strap (yours advice about rubber strap😉). It's a beauty. It holds +/-3 sec/day. The most comfortable watch and strap that I ever worn. Only negative thing is that there is more lume on hand in comparison with indexes.
What a beautiful watch! I really like that version bezel they use, it's got this strong industrial/tough feel. The indices and the hands are also really nice. Nicely balanced and everything seems in the right proportions. For some reason, I am thinking of a few watches in my mind.. and when I think of Orient and Seiko compared to this one.. I get a feeling that Seiko is the "fun" side of diving watches, Orient is the "classy" side of divers and this one is the "serious" side of things.. just the feeling I get. Anyways, thanks for showing this to us and to whomever lent it for review!
That’s why I still have a couple of Seiko dive watches. Although I am 100% convinced that Citizen delivers a solid product with better QC, Seiko’s designs still have more X-factor, they really know how to design a cool watch.
I dont mind the styling... there's a few other colour versions. However what I find unforgiveable for the money is the 8000 series non hack movement and the mineral glass. You can find an Orient that fixes these problems for about the same money. The Triton is still unbeaten. I know that its a bit more money but you can always go Kamasu etc.
G'day Pete! I really enjoyed this video. Citizen is strongly underrated in my opinion. I like this watch for it's design, it could pretty much serve as an SKX substitute, if it wasn't for this weird 8 o'clock crown. I don't see it's point and even you had to turn the watch upside down to operate the crown. But as mentioned I really enjoyed the video. Cheers mate!
Thanks mate. I’m not sure if I could get used to an 8 o’clock crown now that I’ve played with it. Although I think it looks interesting being at 8, I just found it awkward in real usage 🤔
Ive got the blue dial NY0040-09E and cant fault it. It was my daily and I would put it through drilling holes, jackhammering, using impact drivers, knocking it around and it keeps relatively good time. My only gripe with it would be the lume on the hands and dial dont match.

Hi Peter - Great quality these NY series but they do need to update to the Miyota 9015 hacking movement? That 8203 has been used since 1989 I believe. You wouldn't have any inside info if Citizen are updating movements?

These are beautiful. I’m fond of the green myself and might pick it up eventually and add a sapphire crystal. Really great reviews, subbed. One small piece of advice, maybe hold the watch closer to the camera while doing the review.
Beautiful watch and nice review. But this watch is $750 CAD currency (before taxes) and I wouldn't consider this a budget watch at that price at least here in Canada.
Nice continuation of Citizen “ Destro “ ( right handed ) design . The back play in the bezel allows for the easy removal of salt and silt in open water ;)
The specs arent important when the watch looks this good. It looks like the Omegas, with that glossy black dial. To my tastes, it looks better. You didnt mention the price, but as I live in the UK, maybe not relevant. That was an interesting and informative review. What can I say. I want one.
Great review man, one of the best watches for the price with its original design unique 12 o clock marker, solid bracelet with solid end links, iso diver, black date wheel with english and chinese language, im waiting this beauty to arrive to me these days i cant wait :)
well done review - I always cringe when a reviewer neglects to verify that they are our or the ‘no zone’ before quick setting the day date. Also i’m imagining the balance and escapement are upper right ? interesting at the 8 o’clock
Nice review. This is my next purchase - if I can find one. I agree with "hacking being neither here or there" but don't understand the focus that people place on the quality of the "clasp." How much quality should a clasp have ? How much does it need ? My thousand quid 300m Hamilton Diver had a "magnificent" clasp but that didn't do me much good the first time I went to the beach; the water resistance was compromised and I was 8 weeks without it while the technicians in Switzerland carried out repairs. 300 metre water resistance on a Diver watch and Hamilton cannot guarantee five feet of water will be kept out ! Same thing happened with my Hamilton X-Copter 100m a few years before. I'd say these type of issues far outweigh details about clasps and bracelets, though of course its understood a good review has to zero in on the smallest details.
Very nice watch. Too bad it is too large at 42mm for my average size wrist. I much rather prefer a 39mm (max 40mm) sportwatch. I hope seiko/citizen will eventually list some smaller alternatives.
@@NathanChisholm041 It boils down to personal preference. 42mm is the maximum case size for my wrist. Maximum does not equal optimal. Btw, no worries for the limited version bs, many other combos to choose from, all great ones (think there is a full lumed one too). Funny enough i see you're on 6,66 k subs and no thumbs down... is anyone on the wrong christian side today??? LMAO , just kidding mate, keep up the good work, thanks in advance for everything you give us. PS I've been watching all your videos lately but didn't comment at any of them (summer laziness i guess) but wanted to tell you something about your new (almost a month now, right?) logo. Wondered why you didn't rotate the words "watch" + "reviews" a quarter on the right side , meaning "W" of "watch" been on 12 o'clock position. Would balance the whole thing, show your initials way better and fulfill the circle in a clearest of ways. I assume the answer is "I didn't know how to do this..." but looks odd to me, everytime i see it in the intro. Anyways mate, stay safe, be well, enjoy anything you do. Γεια σου απο Ελλαδα!!!! ( or αγελαδα (cow) as we all used to joke as kids...). Beaches at the south of Crete are calling me again... got to go, they get nasty if i don't... ha! 😎
Why did you have to rub it in about Crete. We are so gutted here, the fact that we can't travel. We were in Crete in 2015 and 16 and loved it. As for the logo, I wanted the P and K to overlap the words watch and review, but I will look into what you described and play around to see if I like it . On that note with the 6,66k subs, all I can say to finish off is : God Bless You :) καλό κολύμπι
I've rotated the 'watch review' on the logo, I think your spot on, it looks the part now. I will start using it in future vids as well..thanks heaps for the feedback 😎😎😎😎😎

I own the eco drive version. It came with that faux oxygen tank also. +7 sec/month. Edit: it’s on the same promaster diver series but I realised mine is never called Fugu.
The Eco Drive version is a completely different watch, case, bezel, dial design, hands... + 7 seconds/ month? I must have been lucky when I got mine. +1 second in 3 months...
Citizen's Miyota 9015 is 4 hertz, hacks and handwinds. Why they would use an inferior movement in a "limited edition" doesn't make sense to me. That cancels out everything else I like about the watch 😤
It's rare for Citizen to produce an automatic watch. I'd love a Citizen automatic dress watch. The Bulova (owned by Citizen) models are interesting, though.
Like the upbeat latin jazz during unboxing. Peter, have you been to Latin America/ Carib? This is a quirky likeable Diver, kind of a novelty. I do like my jangling SKX jubilee bracelet, lol. That was certainly nice of Tony to send it in. Regards, JP

I dint know it's name, I downloaded it form youtube music library, ( but I saved it as the name (intro music) and just added it to my intro's. I should have kept it original name on the file ..sorry
these watches are great. stupid that they keep doing everything in limited edition. how about making enough to meet demand? watches are not supposed to be collector items, they're tools.
Bracelet is a disaster. The positives are they put solid links and end links but the clasp is a total failure. The folding part is cheap stamped steel and worse, there are no micro adjustments. So you can only add or remove links to size the bracelet. The bracelet terminates at 18mm on one side of the clasp and 16mm at the other side of the clasp. So you can’t even change out the clasp to one that has micro adjustments due to it being different widths at each end.
Not really, the crown on the left side is actually very comfortable when you realize the it doesn’t dig into your hand. Even the skx with the crown at the 4 o’clock still manages to leave a mark from time to time.
The trap is the key word here..how many similar divers do we need? Price wise I'm not sure, I think it was more expensive than normal (because its a LE)

On that note with the 6,66k subs, all I can say to finish off is : God Bless You :)
καλό κολύμπι
I've rotated the 'watch review' on the logo, I think your spot on, it looks the part now.
I will start using it in future vids as well..thanks heaps for the feedback 😎😎😎😎😎
@@PeterKotsa Honored to give you another perspective... Mies Van der Rohe once quoted "God is in details". I'd say we're all gods of our own. All in all, i'm really glad i helped a bit. Cheers mate, enjoy!
Welcome to what it feels like being left handed lol it's always backwards but fantastic review love your videos
I know, I am struggling to get my simple brain to think LEFT...lol
I own the eco drive version. It came with that faux oxygen tank also. +7 sec/month.
Edit: it’s on the same promaster diver series but I realised mine is never called Fugu.
7 seconds a month is fantastic, enjoy it and wear it in good health 👍👍
The Eco Drive version is a completely different watch, case, bezel, dial design, hands...
+ 7 seconds/ month?
I must have been lucky when I got mine.
+1 second in 3 months...
Im looking for this Model, but I cant find it anymore. Could someone share a link where I can buy this as new?
Sold out
Only second hand.
Nice watch. I wonder whether that big crown will dig into you wrist (for a left-hand wearer). looks very smart. Great review, thank you!!!
It didn't bother my wrist whatsoever. On my right wrist, it would be a completely different story, cheers
Cool
Citizen's Miyota 9015 is 4 hertz, hacks and handwinds. Why they would use an inferior movement in a "limited edition" doesn't make sense to me. That cancels out everything else I like about the watch 😤
I agree, the 9015 is exactly what’s missing here, thanks for sharing 👍
Solid end link ?
It's rare for Citizen to produce an automatic watch. I'd love a Citizen automatic dress watch. The Bulova (owned by Citizen) models are interesting, though.
Bulova do make some interesting watches indeed
Like the upbeat latin jazz during unboxing. Peter, have you been to Latin America/ Carib? This is a quirky likeable Diver, kind of a novelty. I do like my jangling SKX jubilee bracelet, lol. That was certainly nice of Tony to send it in. Regards, JP
Thanks JP, no haven’t been to Latin America, hopefully one day though ( see how Covid pans out worldwide). 😷 Tony is a really cool guy, he offered to send this to me even before he saw it. I couldn’t thank him enough 🙏
Very nice!!!
One question....
The day/date display is in English /Japanese??
Regards from Mexico.
As for the day date, not sure where Tony purchased the watch 🤔
Thanks for sharing 👍👍
@@tonyxxx9463 Absolutely bro, that strap combo goes with so many watches
The watch is for divers whom wear a dive computer on the left and the watch on the right as a backup.
I wish there was a SKX013 version of this, I'd get it in a heartbeat
Yep, me too
no diving extension?
I am a BIG fan of Citizen and i wonder where i can get my hands around one? Cheers..
Whereabouts you based
@@PeterKotsa , Florida, USA
@@marlonm396 Oh, ok, I have a few contacts here in OZ, but not sure about USA..:(
On a side note, Tony, who lent the watch in purchased it online somewhere, I can get him to forward the details if you want
Peter Kotsa yes please ask him. Thank you sir..
@@marlonm396 ok Tony purchased it form this website, tell them that you saw the watch on my RUclips channel and mention Tony's name, they should look after you price wise

Citizen also released recently the latest iteration of that Promaster Fugu. NY011 Series.
I see they've added 120 click bezel on this model
@@PeterKotsa Yes, also came at bigger 44mm case and in sapphire crystal. Hoping you can also do a review of that model soon.🙂
@@markcristobal457 gotta get one in first :)

Agreed, every Seiko I owned had a small QC issue.
I only own 1 Citizen, the BN0150-61e, but it is faultless.
A solid watch.
I am really contemplating buying the Titanium GMT diver, how is your experience with this watch?
There are no Citizen dealers in my region, so it is impossible to get an impression of it myself...
Hi Peter can you review the Heimdallr promaster fugu diver watch. Many thanks.
If I get my hands on one
Cheers
I often look lovingly at Promasters. I just wish they hacked
If it hacked and had drilled lugs it be tan excellent value piece. Even so it’s not a bad offering
Ah I just posted the same thing 😅
Is it just the Limited Edition that is marketed only in the Asian Market or is it this series family like the Titanium Promaster as well?
Not sure
limited to how many pieces? Is the part number engraved on the back cover? Thanks
Not sure, I sent the watch back to Tony, it was his..I believe he has since sold it, so I cannot recall the LE allocation on this
cheers
Thanks for sharing
My pleasure 😇
Is there a citizen diver that hacks hand winds ? I have a citizen promaster solar version but I can't help wonder about autos
Oh so handwinding is possible just no hacking...sorry Peter I'm commenting as I'm watching. Cheers from Bengaluru India
All good. Hand winding is a welcomed feature here ( its one of the things that bugs me about my Seiko skx )
Yes, sort of. the NB1031. 👍
The review is great but you must photograph the watch clother
I'll keep that in mind for next time, thanks for sharing, cheers
Great video
Thanks William
May you let me know the name of your intro music ? It is really nice
I dint know it's name, I downloaded it form youtube music library, ( but I saved it as the name (intro music) and just added it to my intro's. I should have kept it original name on the file ..sorry
@@PeterKotsa thank you for your response
👍
Citizen are much better than seiko
Are Tissot watches good ??
Tissot have made some lovely watches over the years for sure 👍
I prefer mineral crystal. Sapphire has too much annoying reflections usually.
Also probably safer under water with mineral rather than sapphire 👍
I stopped at 4:40, no hacking movement makes this another overpriced NY0040. Try again, Citizen. Next! Thumbs up!
I know, I was gutted as well, hacking and drilled lugs would have made this ideal. Thanks for sharing 👍👍
is the strap suitable for ny0040?
not sure..
How does the bracelet of your coke promaster compare to this bracelet?
I think this one is a little more comfortable. The coke bracelet is an aftermarket and it sometimes grabs on my hairs..
Cheers
Been looking at the pepsi version on starbuy but have so many divers. Hmmm
I think we all get carried away..:)
Aischenmarke🤭,not bad man😂👍.
cheers
these watches are great. stupid that they keep doing everything in limited edition. how about making enough to meet demand? watches are not supposed to be collector items, they're tools.
You need to work on that left hand coordination homeboy
I think you're right, it's probably got more to do with my left brain though..pretty much non-obedient haha
What's the benefit of hacking?
It allows you to stop the seconds hand and sync the watch up to another person’s watch. That’s one of the benefits 👍
Syncing with other timepieces
Thanks! I see. That could be useful if my watches held the same time. 😃 👍
So citizen makes this watch as a left-handed watch only that's kind of dumb
Not really, the crown on the left side is actually very comfortable when you realize the it doesn’t dig into your hand. Even the skx with the crown at the 4 o’clock still manages to leave a mark from time to time.
It is indeed comfortable on the LHS, the only thing is getting the mind used to using the left hand to use the crown..some re-training required..lol
I am 18 minutes too late!!!!
Hahahaha
How much is it? Looks like another $300 or so diver that I don’t need! The trap of watch collecting ... buying an endless array of similar divers .
The trap is the key word here..how many similar divers do we need?
Price wise I'm not sure, I think it was more expensive than normal (because its a LE)
First! Haha
You guys are funny..
If only they hacked 😞
👍
Your watch is too far from the camera.
Thanks for sharing..
Surely you know how to set a watch properly???
My left hand and brain are not cooperating atm..LOL
Solid end link?
Yes correct
@@PeterKotsa grazie mille
