Thanks for the video. I just ordered one with the tools. Is the reason that you do not just remove the hanger plate, and do the install outside of the car because you want to leave the hanger plate where it is to maintain where the shift linkage sits?
Thank you for your order. The hangers are spot welded in place and a pain to remove. But one could remove the hanger and install the bushing outside of the tunnel. But after removing and reinstalling the hanger, the bushing installation tool looks like the deal of the century.
Any reason why the bushing was changed from brass to Teflon/plastic? We previously fitted the brass one and it was perfect, but I have a new bug and will be fitting the newer version.
Thank you for being a subscriber. The quality of bronze stock had really diminished and the cost kept increasing. Delrin is a superior material for these bushings and it allowed us to lower the price of the bushing.
I highly recommend removing both front seats and maybe the rear unless you are a contortionist. It is difficult to see inside the hole, especially if your eyes are over 50 years old. Good lighting is key as well.
I put this into my Ghia and it's great. I posted a video review and real world installation video on my page. Check it out if you want to see a how-to on an actual chassis.
Fitted mine yesterday in about 20 mins, very useful video

Brilliant! I bet there is a little cursing while doing this. Do you end up removing the seats to get in there?
Cursing and removing the seats is not necessary, but some may find it helpful.

Got mine today, nice piece of kit.
2 things you left out. Clean gunk off of the shift rod befor you shove it back into the car. How much lubrication is required and where?
That is discussed in our video that deals with removal and installation of the shift rod.
Thanks for watching.
What a fiddly job. Good solution.
Thank you
