    Any decent trainer will tell you that 80% of your gains come from diet. So, instead of spending all that money on testing, I'd rather spend it on berries, greens, mushrooms and a variety of fruits and veggies along with whole grains and legumes. I do strength training, HIIT and cardo training 3 days a week and rest on the other days to recover. I get to bed on time and don't stress. People guess my age is somewhere between 40 and 50. I'm actually 73 and feel about the same energy level as when I was in my 20's..

    My father’s side of the family all look very youthful as they age and grandpa lived independently until he died aged 97. I lie about my age and people assume I am 20 years younger. At 71 I can still run a 5k in under 43 minutes with patchy training and I lift heavy and don’t have any age related issues like joint pain. I do all the right things although I need to control my calories again after six months off. HRT is very anti-aging for women. That always gets left off the list.
    My son still looks mid twenties in his thirties. So I think looking young really is a good marker.
    My father died at 64 but he was a heavy smoker all his life. So genetics only gets you so far.

    Someone previously asked about step count in a now deleted comment, and at what point does increased step count start to negatively affect epigenetic age. . I am going to guess the study below was the relevant study referred to by the guest. It looks like grimage increased after around 11,2471 daily steps . There are u shaped curves based upon amount of vigorous exercise and MET hours as well. Though the study appears to differ from what the guest said. The way I read the graphs, is that those that did the most exercise had the same or worse grimage results than those that did the least, as the curves were relatively constant on both ends. This would suggest to me that overdoing it by a large amount may wipe out all of the benefit that exercise has in terms of grimage results. That is, if you believe that grimage optimization has benefits.

      Of course, grimage seems to be a dopey mesaurement when we have mortality stats. For those under 60, we see decreasing all cause mortality with step counts going up to at least 16,000 steps daily in vthis meta analysis Mortality may decrease further for those under 60 after 16000 steps, but the graph in the study stopped at 16000. For those 60 or over, mortality increased after 8000 steps, suggesting that seniors should not overdo it.

      People who have cancer and who are sick and dying don't move at all, because their body is weak and preserving itself to stay alive. That's the problem with epidemiology and inferring causation from 16,000 steps.

    • @jackbuaer3828
      @jackbuaer3828 20 дней назад

      That's why scientists do covariate analysis in studies. From the study at issue, "Model 2 also adjusted for age, sex, race and ethnicity, education or income, body-mass index, and study-specific covariates for chronic disease (eg, diabetes, blood pressure, history of cardiovascular disease or cancer, and medications), self-rated health or functional status, accelerometer wear time, and lifestyle factors (eg, smoking and alcohol; appendix p 5). Investigators of participating studies were asked to complete sensitivity analysis excluding deaths within the first 2 years of follow-up."

    When it comes to exercise at least from the performance standpoint the proven rule is very simple. You put pressure on your body as a signal to invoke physiological adaptations. So in another words you deliberately damage your body in order to force your body to adaptation. As long as you allow your body to fully recover from whatever exercise you do your performance will go up and I believe it's probably safe to say that for the most part that is also how it works with health and longevity. In more nuanced view we know that as you exercise you occur damage to your bones and ligaments and other parts that requires more time to recover so there is not a simple solution but as long as you allow your body to catch up on all levels you will be more adapted and therefore get more benefit from exercise.

It’s kind of a big one since sunlight is embedded into our biological systems from the beginning of our existence. Also wondering if he can comment on statins more.. if he believes statins will destroy your mitochondria (CoQ10), if blocking cholesterol increases cellular stress, plus his thought on the increase in ALS, heart attack, etc..

    My experience is much different. I thrive on animal foods - mainly red meat and eggs. The only vegetable I eat is organic white California grown basmati rice. I find it is good to have about 100 carbs a day and white rice seems to be the cleanest way to access carbs. I find that having carbs in the evening does not cause a higher sleep score. I eat in an 8 hour window staring at 6 am. No food after noon. Sleep just fine. I focus primarily on supplementing with NAC, Glycine. Taurine. Creatine and L-Citrulline. These nutrients insure the substrate material needed for the body to be able to perform its functions effectively. These types of nutrients are more available in animal products and less so with plants, which also carry anti-nutrients and abrasive (to the gut) and unnecessary non-soluble fiber. I am 70 and my functional doctor runs a battery of blood tests every six months and likes my progress. I have the same body comp as when I was 21 and appear to be very healthy. There is more than one way to skin a cat.

      I'm mostly a strict carnivore, other than special occasions when I might eat something else that was personally made by a family member. Rice is a decent option, for those who want carbs, at least assuming the source is clean. But if the soil is contaminated, rice has been shown to uptake and concentrate heavy metals like lead. It's wise to choose organic from a place like California that has strong regulations.
      As for supplements, I've at times used some of the ones you mentioned. And I still have some of them in my cabinet that I haven't used up yet. But I'm starting to change my mind. Except in specific cases of deficiencies, it seems wariness might be a better relationship to anything that doesn't come from whole foods. Supplements, or anything industrially processed, can have contaminants, undesirable ingredients, and high deuterium.
      I'm particularly concerned about excess deuerium that will harm the mitochondria and much else. So deuterium depletion might be the single greatest upstream factor in determining health and aging. One of the advantages of a carnivore diet is it's the lowest deuterium diet possible; as opposed to carbs like rice (and seed oils) that are high deuterium. And I've combined that with deuterium depleted water.

      As one of many examples, the maximum human lifespan is 120. So theoretically, an actual 23 year old that plays their cards perfectly, has the potential to live another 97 years. Can you say that about a 40 year old man claiming to have a "biological age" of 23? Almost definitely not. So what does it even mean to say he's "biologically 23?"

    Even with no money you can do yoga, fasting, running, weight training... Eat salad instead of highly processed food, drink water and tea instead of softdrinks. Avoid carbohydrate and sleep a lot. Don't smoke and drink. If you do that, you'll be way healthier than 99% of people.

    • @TechPeasant404
      @TechPeasant404 7 дней назад

      long chain like DHA and EPA. best to not have it processed in pills to oxidize. cod liver oil has Retinol (animal based vit A) that is an antioxidant that protects the long chain omega3 oil. plant oils high in omega 3 are mostly short chain line flax seed oil the short chain omega3 fat is called ALA. your body needs to convert the ALA to DHA or EPA and we have around a 2 to 5% conversion rate. there is one plant based long chain DHA/EPA source its Algae sourced (where most of the long chain omega 3 found in fish comes from)

    If you look at people at 40+ ... you don't see many of these in the gym or working out or doing anything for their health. So the decline of performance is so understandable. The population averages are not very good representation of actual age related decline of potential ..

    This reductionist pharmaceutical approach might be theoretically valuable but it is practically useless without addressing the issue of the destruction of our food supply system, toxic non food substances as staples in our diet, toxins in our air, water and food, and total curruption of our ancestral evolutionary lifestyle. Then the question is, even if this pill is beneficial, would it be needed at all if we solved 1st principle problems first.
