Hey question, I’m trying to do this with a pixie set site. I followed all the steps in this video and double checking on incognito worked! So thank you! My question was.. pixieset has a section to paste a UA code. Do I need to do this as well? Or is it counter productive because the G4 version and older versions were linked together already? Thank you 🙏 again
Hey, that's a great question! No need to put the UA code in if you've already connected UA + GA4 and installed it on the website using code. If you did put it in both places, you'd likely start tracking your data twice which would create inaccurate info.
@@MariahMagazine awesome thank you for getting back to me. I have 1 other question... I initially made the Google analytics account with my personal gmail email. After watching your video I realized I did it wrong and decided it was a good opportunity to use a business email account so I did it correctly using your video and the new business account. As I’m looking at both analytics the numbers are off. There are more views in the same time period through the old account (which I only put in the UA) than on the new one. So my question besides why is this, is if I left both alone can I just track data from both or is the data misconstrued because of this? Thank you again for all of your help!
@@MariahMagazine Hey Mariah, I think you made a mistake but I maybe wrong. At 8:54, you need to choose between 2 methods to track, you choose use existing on page tag, I think this option is meant to be you don't need to change already existing code, means, if you already have old universal analytics code on page, you don't need to touch anything but still have your newly GA4 running, by connecting your existing UA tag to this new created GA4, after connected, I think in theory, you don't need to do anything, this is all set. Your page only contain one set of tracking code (old UA), but your new GA4 is still can receive traffic data from now because you already connected.
At here, you should paste the UA tracking code to your website, but you switch to first option and chose the manually paste code, this code is GA4 code, if you pasted this code not old UA code, your can see your traffic stats on this newly created GA4 property but not that UA property, I already tested this. I mean, only use UA4 tracking code on webpage will not send traffic data to connected UA, but only use old style UA code should send traffic data to newly created GA4 even if you only have 1 set of tracking code (which is UA).
Again, I maybe wrong on this, I am also new on this, but indeed proved only use GA4 code on page will not backfill data to connected UA. I googled, many people use 2 set of tracking code on their page, which I think it is ridiculous if this is the answer, because follow Google's guideline, they mean you can use only 1 set of code.

Finally I got Google analytics. Took me 10 hours to figure it out. I have not activated GA4 so sitekit didn't work. I first put the Code into the Header to at least get the Tag approved. A lightbulb fleshed up as you mentioned that you get automaticly 2 Properties by enabling the GA4 Button which I haven't seen at the first few setups. Thank you very much

Previously when I want to link the web with GA through Google Site Kit, there's a prompt message of ``An appropriate representation of the requested resource could not be found on this server. Nope! If you do both, you could end up tracking your data x2.

What if the GA Universal and GA4 were already set up and you are just trying to link them together? I want to say I did find a way link them based on your video but do I need to install the code again to my site? I am not sure if the code was updated or something.
