- Ken Downing of Judas Priest interview by Moe Nawaz: I must admit I was very nervous talking to Ken Downing at the beginning, but Ken being an absolute gentleman made it very easy as the interview continued. Talking to Ken Downing about his success in the rock group and as a successful businessman running his own businesses with a golf course which Ken built from scratch, hotel and now holiday homes at the golf course.

KK is a true rock icon and a class act guy
KK DOWNING, I hope you see this comment someday, Many many Priest shows over the years I would sit on your side of the stage. You are GREATLY missed! Thank you for your lifes work. No more Preist shows for me.
KK Downing is one of the most class acts in rock. Truly a humble guy that remembers where he came from and appreciates what he has attained.
Interesting to hear KK talk about the business side rather than just the music. Great guy - I was fortunate enough to meet him.
That's how a true Legend acts!! Brilliant
Downing seems like the nicest dude ever. I really admire the combination of huge success and class, niceness. Being an asshole is easy. Staying nice is harder.
Har hans bok Heavy Duty, eller pappa då 😃 men har läst den
Well, if you're a decent person being nice is easy. Conversely, if you're a dick being an asshole comes quite easily it seems. It's only hard if you're a nice guy being an asshole or a prick being kind (unless forced for personal gain - which is more common than you think).
Fantastic interview and what a true gentleman Ken is.
He's an old school mind. Totally cool logical smart dude.
K.K, you will always be revered by this fan in U.S.A. I've been going to J.P concerts since 1978. Rock Forever my brother from another mother. Peace
No shit, many part of L.A. I grew up in know this dude. Im 49.

Great interviewer, good questions. K K a humble and down to earth guy. Great stuff!
FANTASTIC INTERVIEW. LOVED THE INTERVIEWER TOO! KK IS SO HUMBLE!
This guy is brilliant! I never knew, although I've been a fan since I was 12.
He went bankrupt and he sold the estate back in 2017.
@@tompowers4013 didn’t know that either.
Half of the greatest twin guitars in the history of Rock! KK Downing is still one of the coolest out there!
I saw Judas Priest warm up for Kiss in 77 at the Garden, and didn’t even realize it till 15 years later when I found the ticket stub in my drawer and read the front of it and I laughed! Oh shit! I saw Priest when I was a snot nosed kid, and didn’t even realize it !!!
Brilliant interview/chat and great advice too. A million pound is a million pound until you begin to spend some of it, then it becomes taxable ! You are one of the most honest hand shakable true guys out there . Good on you KK .
One of the best guitarplayers
Absolutely top bloke!
My mate dug his golf coarse
Didn't believe him when he told me he met kk 😂😂👍🤘🎸🇬🇧
What a terrific person, and a great inspiration for me and my playing
probably the guitarist with most fierce solos I've ever seen.
to me the true bedrock of judas priest,i was blessed to see them several times.the chemistry between his and tipton's guitar was amazing to behold, absolutely stunning at times.
Yep, the best example was the awesome dual (I think, at least it sounds like it. lol) synched riff at 2:12 of "The Green Manalishi and the 2-Pronged Crown". One of their signature sounds.
Unleashed in the East is where it all started for me! Love them since and saw them at US 83. Great show that day, Rockin, simply Rockin!! JP is way less without him.
Really good interview. For a guy who's probably never heard a single Judas Priest song, the interviewer did a good job and asked some really excellent questions. I enjoyed it very much.
The interviewer is excellent. Many interviewers seem to think they are as important as the subject and they aren't. This fella asks good questions, doesn't think it's all about him, and allows KK to speak without interruption.
He interrupts frequently.
He seems like someone who lives the Golden Rule. I would have like to see a KK, David Coverdale, Glenn Hughes and Jon Lord collaboration 😌
Such a really down to earth guy.
I agree, i did not expect that.
Thank you so much for sharing this interview, such a lovely guy. You're a good interviewer.
KK downing has always been a source of inspiration to me and I'm you'll say the same thing.
an amazing guitar player. Inspiration to new generation of players around the world who carry the flag of heavy metal. My deepest respect to ken.
Brilliant interview & the interviewer is 1st class.
Ken 'KK' Downing is a Heavy Metal rock LEGEND! He is one of the grandfathers of hard rock/metal! Kiss his feet now!
I have seen priest about 18 concerts and everytime ken has been nothing but class and a hard worker. a hardass rocker he is. thank you kk for great times and you will be missed. I missed the last two concerts in phoenix,az just cause it doesn't seem the same. seen priest in cali but was kinda shorted on effect. love ya,miss ya from the states. take care and good to hear from you again.
A very inspiring interview for me personally, In addition to being a very gifted and humble musician, he's very wise, to have had that other plan in place from an early age. I thought the interviewer did a fine job. Thank you for sharing this.
whatever you want to do...just know millions of us love you, thank you for getting me through my teens with some of the best guitar music ever made.
loved this
I felt Moe asked fresh questions. WE have heard all Ken's answers to the standard questions. I enjoyed this interview. Moe did a great job, exposed a lot about how KK thinks about the business side of a band.
That is true. I remember going to a perfomance here in Belgium.. I think around the end of the seventies. Kiss was main band and Judas support band. And the crowd was split between Kiss fans and Judas fans. Outside there have been a hell of a fight... My God... It must have looked like some kind of revolution.... And when I think about it both mobs had their uniforms. Black leather Vs colorfull jeans and high heal boots ... Those where the days, Big fun..
My guitar hero from back in the day- He played for Queensryche too
Good job mr. Moe!! Kk a metal class act , and one of my influences in music !!
KK LEGEND .
I’m already read his books, and I know some of it
I like his Guitar Solos and Judas Priest is the best Metal Band ever!
Best live guitarist I've ever witnessed and I've seen greats like Ritchie Blackmore, Santana, Slash, Kirk Hammett and many others. Oddly...KK blew them all away.
you obviously never saw angus
Angus is good too. But man KK is much better with his tremelo. And all of his leads sound different. Where as Angus rarely switches up his scales. He always plays in that blues pentatonic way. KK is way more creative and innovative when he plays his leads. Period. Ask anyone who plays guitar.
ANTONIO AZEVEDO - Man, I gotta agree with you. I saw KK play in Priest many many times. One time he was 3 feet in front of me. That was when they had Ripper Owens and the band was playing small bars and venues. I was lucky enough to get very close while they played that night. And when they played "Sinner" it blew my eyes and ears away!! KK tore it up!!
Angus is the best showman of all time though, KK may be technically better ( though he cannot touch Angus's vibrato ) but for sheer entertainment it's gotta be Angus. Seen them both can't compare really Apples and Oranges.
He’s badass. Seen him live 4 times. Legend. But the best live guitarist I’ve ever seen was........wait for it...........
Dimebag 🤘🏻
k.K fuckin' RULES
Huge respect for KK....has done well for himself outside what he did in the band. Seems like a really cool guy
MY FAVORITE HEAVY METAL BAND AND MY IDOL GUITARIST K.K DOWNING.A REALLY NICE COMBINATION.
I didn`t know it had taken them so long to make it, as my fave Priest records are the first ones.
Nice interview. KK Rocks and a very kool person as well. Was very nice to see him in person I think it was 1986 or 7 It's been many years and can't remember still have the autographed album "Defenders of the Faith" I bought a duplicate and ran it to the ground and bought another :) one of my favorites that and "Screaming for Vengence" Album Played that till is croaked and bought probably 3 times now I have on MP3 all the albums converted. "British Steel" Still have my concert T-Shirts too
kk starting to look like jeff daniels who which btw is also a very good guitar player.lol
thankyou mr downing for teaching me how to play guitar on all of those wonderful heavy rock records.amazing stuff great guitarplayer for sure.we the fans are behind you all the way in your descision to take a break.GOD bless you .
Nice comment:) KK Rocks
I am a huge Judas Priest fan and was born in Hill Top West Bromwich too!! Still live there!
And me !
My grandad was the parkie at Hill Top Park.
I play a “v” but not in a metal Band.
My first ever concert was Priest in 79 at Birmingham Odeon and saw Priest last week at Resorts World, Birmingham sadly without KK
KK you is great guitarist forever Metal!
Full of class he is.
stained class. hrmm.
Wow alot of bad comments on the interviewer. I say it's better than those in your face interviews where you can't get a word in edge wise. Nice down to earth interview. He let him speak what he was thinking. Dont be so harsh so you don't make an ASS out of your self. Thank You and Have A Nice Day :Þ
This was a fine and different interview. Mostly shining a light on KK's business prowess and the character and strengths that got him where he is.
Exactly! A radio host friend of mine told me that the most important thing to do when interviewing people, is to stay quiet. Let them speak. That´s the way to get a good interview as opposed to most of today´s journalists, who love listening to themselves. This video is pleasant and informative to watch. KK also comes across as a genuinely nice guy.
That's why I like Graham Norton
KK seems like a pretty good guy. Humble.
no its over! I want more!!!!
Legend.
Whoa, kickass shoes, K.K.! 4:51 Always my favorite member of the Priest. I saw them in L.A. a couple years ago. It was cool, Rob sounded great, but it just ain't the same without K.K. and his Flying V.
However, AFAIK KK still works for Priest as some form of an event manager. He simply can't play on stage due to his heart problems.
spd7693 no he doesn't work for judas priest as an event manager and doesn't have heart problems. Where do you hear these lies?lol
+Das David
Thanks. I never knew why he left the band and nobody said nothing wherever I asked and searched, so just blind guessing.
KK: You know 'the Highway to hell tour'
Interviewer: hmm hmm
Sure!
KK is the best!
K.K. Downing what a gentleman!!!
KK seems like such a nice guy.im sure true.
What a wonderful insight from Ken Downing now quite successful in business and music! I would be so surprised if he did read these comments. I say this because there has to be a point where enough exposure even for the right reasons can reach a logical limit. However, of course after having followed along with the interview I just watched, having been made at his estate; I'm a bit More inclined to think he keeps it up and it's just part of who he his. If so my warmest regards to you sir and thanks so much for your contributions, and the way in which you invoke integrity into all your pursuits. Rob from USA
I wish kk was still with jp but I'm happy for him
Great guitarist ever kk
i really loved it, hope your vids get really famous!!

dang really cool, good job!!
hes never heard of judas priest has he
you are very talented
loved the vid
The disconnect going on between the worlds of art and commerce in the first half of this interview is dryly amusing.
Who would say that this is the guy who plays that wild solo on the "Sinner" song!?
Precisely
Ok we will miss you man!
best vid evarrrr!!!!
those are some sick moves
