Started using cv carbs in 1988 on sportsters , 1990 on big t wins
Explains better than most
Excellent video I like your test method and how you don't drill or hack on these carbs. Thank you very much.
Good instructional video, Thanks...
My 2000 FXDWG has what looks like the same carb.
P/N's are confusing though. My 2000 model has a carb P/N 27421-99A and the California only # is 27414-99A.
Edit to add: That idle mixture screw is accessable after the carb is reinstalled, if you need further adjustment. You can see it with a mirror and flashlight.
It's a good idea to replace that 90 deg black plastic inlet line when the carb is off for a rebuild, mine was showing signs of cracking from heat and ethanol fuel. I changed it to an all brass one.
Good
Tip. I’ll keep that in my Rolodex of knowledge
How do you get it off, I can't get mine out
1992 they started with the CV that was used until 2006.
Great Job! Thank you.
Great video !!!! every step explained very well !!! Thanks !
Thanks!
Excellent video thank you!!!!!
one of the best videos Ive seen on this.. but change the music . I was falling a sleep. ha
Great video , chill music too.
Огромное спасибо за видео! Всё понятно и просто!
Thanks!
Let's go for a ride boy!!!!! Letssss gooooo
Nice informative video.Float bowl fins will hold float pin in place if you ever run into carb with a slightly loose pin. Put some paint on your vice!😉👍
Sweet bike
Nice bike. I want to get a evo springer
You forgot to mention the brass bushing on the top of the carb cover and also the needle jet guide that likes to fall out. If my terminology is wrong sorry
You have earned a sub sir
Stay humble thanks for watching!
Cool
Excellent teardown and rebuild. Where do you.recommend we get the rebuild kit? Mine is a '96 1200C.
Nice job sorry I am late. BUSY
"Quote me if I'm wrong" ...lmao
He may not be the best in the business, But you won't find none better around; Good job!!!
Hello.. is the accelerator fuel pin replaceable. Broke mine when cleaning the carb.
My '96 Softail has this carb
Wow ! Excellent video, you showed with great clarity and close ups everything I need to know to do this repair . Question are those three screws holding on the accelerator diaphragm JIS? They seem like Phillips with a dot which can mean JIS and not Phillips. Just asking so I don’t strip bolts on my next repair. Subscribed! Keep up the great work
This sounds crazy, but use an impact driver with the small phillips bit. Don't hit the impact driver, just use it to unscrew the Japaneese screws. It fits better than a regular phillips head, plus more weight behind the torque.
JIS screws are a bit different. If you file the pointed end of a regular Phillips # 1 screw driver tip, it fits those screws.
On my Carb the screws were not too tight. I had no trouble getting them out.
An old aircraft trick we use to use is. Put your screw driver on the screw, give it a tap wit a hammer. Then, put your screw driver on it and tighten it a bit, before you try to loosen the screw. That usually would break the bond on the screw, before you try to loosen it.
Yes, all screws on the Keihin CV are JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard), not Phillips.
Great carb video. I just wanted to hear it run. I have tried to convince my wife that if I had a Harley I could mount a mower deck under or behind it and mow the lawn. So far this has not worked.
What cleaner do you use?
Water and a drop of dawn. Works the best. I’ve used other cleaners and it turns the carb a
Dark grey
Yeah 1988 to 2008
1988-2006 they ran the CV40
Not a bad carb
I like them a lot! They don’t take much to tune at all and are a very simple carb to rebuild. One of my favorites to work on at the shop. I also have one on my 2000 Dyna
Are those 20$ carb rebuild kits on Ebay or amazon any good , or where should I shop?
James brand from J&P cycle's is where I got mine. I'll try to find the part #.
James gasket kit part # JGI-27006-88
Watch 9 minutes of this video gave up on it if you're going to rebuild a carburetor do the whole thing slide diaphragm everything don't just do bits and pieces
Sit down and find a seat, class isn’t over
