oh.. for the upstrokes, it's usually just the first few strings. (1st 2nd and 3rd) as for the fingers hurting, it's usual. as you play longer, you'll get used to it and your fingers will adapt :)
hi, for this song, the intro is D, Em, C. the Em, you notice that my ring finger and pinky is on the 3rd fret of the 1st and second string. that makes it an Em7, but i just refer to it as Em. I did not mention any E7

hmm... it really depends. most of the time, the electric plays small parts at a time, not usually strum chords. but if you have a clear tone, i guess you could strum it on the electric
erm, the C is a standard C chord, but i add in a G bass on the 6th string as well (3rd fret 6th string) as for the guitar being out of tune, it sounds perfectly fine to me
