    Hey Josh,
The Leo1s that are assaulted near the gas station get no defensive fire while bailed out. Also the infantry were placed well, so the other tanks don’t have line of sight and don’t get to defensive fire through their own friendly units/tanks. Assault should have gone in without resistance and then infantry strikes. If counter assault roll is successful then the remaining two tanks can move 4 inches and assault back. If Leo’s counter assault roll is unsuccessful then bailed out tanks are captured (destroyed) and the operational ones disengage.
Thank you so much for playing! It’s awesome to have someone playing more than just 40K.
Your bat-reps are solid and you do a great job showing the important moments.

glad this game had a decent amount of infantry. one of the biggest turn offs for me is it is just vehicles. While i do love me some tanks. With what is decent sized fights having no infantry make it seem lacking.

Yay almost a week late but I'm gonna nitpick!
-At 30:44 the hinds could not have actually shot at the Gepards because the infantry are too close. Page 43 says you cant shoot at a tank or infantry team with an aircraft if there is a friendly team within 8" (FAQ clarifies that the firing aircraft unit does not count itself).
-Your assault was indeed correct at 32:30.
-I have a hard time telling even when I am playing without measuring myself but infantry have to stay 2" from all enemy teams. Tanks don't care about other tanks, they can demo derby into other tanks (which sadly does nothing unless you play mid war soviets FOW).
-It looks like the Hind ranging in for salvo has its template go over tall terrain (the building) so it adds a +1 to range in.
-You don't get defensive fire at 52:28, your bailed out tanks block line of sight. You fire as if you have not moved, which infantry who have not moved do not block line of sight. Also a cheeky thing is that if the RPG teams had not shot, they could have ambush assaulted the Leo 1s (no defensive fire). Only works if infantry start in tall terrain, have not moved or shot.
-53:08 you do not stack models on top of other models. If an assault would have been successful without the destroyed tank in the way, you just stop on the side of the destroyed tank your models fit and continue the assault against the live one (ignoring cover from the smoking wreck).
I find your style of recording the reports just fine. You could just borrow some of the stories, or even scenarios, from the books and make them kind of fit what you do but it seems fine Josh.
My feedback for Mark, Carnations are the best for standard Soviet lists because its built in the formation. Acacias seem fun since they get a copperhead style round that kind of is a normal shot that hits top armor. Rocket Artillery is pretty bad because its all unarmored vehicles.
Geckos are bad because of this, Shilkas and Gaskins are fantastic for shooting down aircraft.
I'd avoid the BMP 2 if your playing soviets honestly. BMP1s have the better main gun and BMP 3s have the same missile as a BMP2 but the missile is laser guided instead of wire guided so it has a moving rate of fire.
T-64s aren't really worth it anymore. For 2 more points you get a T-80 with front armor of 20.
I would love to come play a bunch of games of Team Yankee/FoW/Victory at Sea with you Josh, but the only conceivable way I can make it across the continent to reach MWG is by driving....44 hours....maybe one day.

Woohoo new TY batrep. Well done production wise as always. The West German paint job looks great. Charging right into the teeth of NATO defense is always tough, especially with no arty/smoke support. It takes practice. Your hinds are your greatest strength so priority should be killing the Gepards. Don't get distract by anything else. Kill the Geps and your Hinds will rule the battlefield. A few things. I think the T-64s in the wood on T1 should also have been gone to ground. I might have run my recce or my surplus Geckos right up the Soviet left flank to stop that Jaguar ambush. Or sent the BRDM infantry up that flank for the same reason and to pressure the Geps. Good working killing that Leo 2 on T1. When it came to shooting at the Gepards on turn 3, the RPGs should have fired at the one closest to the woods because the ones furthest from the woods were more visible to other Soviet weapon systems. (The West German player could have tried to bounce it to the left hand Gep on a 3.) You don't get cover from the edge of woods - only if you are in the woods - any more so no cover from the T-64 fire. I also would have advanced my other infantry to possible assault range in case the Geps are just bailed. (As actually happened.) I couldn't tell if they would have been close enough. But if the Geps shoot at the Hinds, they can't defence fire against infantry, Also remember that pinned Soviet infantry could have tried to dig in.

Vehicles only get gone to ground if you are in terrain. They can be concealed by other stuff but that's it if they aren't in terrain. Infantry will get it even in the open if they don't move and shoot

  • @darkmystic7764
    @darkmystic7764 Год назад +2

31:41 The tank doesnt have conceleament against the hind. Its in the open. Air forces ignores all terrain unless they and the tank are within 10 cm of the tall terrain.

Why double 6s on that Hind rocket salvo? I don't think the "one gun" rule applies to helicopters and aircraft.

Great battle rep! I really love your format. Definitely enjoy the content! Always want to see more of this game. Really, this and flames of war are the only bat reps I like watching. That being said, most bat reps out there are pretty low quality and I gotta say yours are really up on the quality!

Arent that T-72s not T-64s? Just wondering. Cause it will be strange that West has Leopards 2s, Marders and Soviets has only T-64s.

    • @ijdundas

      @@markberrios6629 T-64s are a perfectly legitimate foe for Leopard 2s. :)
I wonder if they'd have performed a bit better if you'd concentrated them in two larger companies rather than spreading them out in three smaller ones. Maybe... maybe not.
I also wonder if your assault against the Leopard 1s in the last turn should have been more successful, though. In the video it looked like the Bailed Out tanks might have blocked line of sight for you from half... or maybe all... of the Defensive Fire, but I'm not 100% certain because it's hard to second-guess lines of fire from the video.

T-64 (with T-80) were the standard Soviet Tank in their armies in Germany in the '80s, they were both superior to T-72. T-72 was designed as a mobilization tank, to be rapidly build in great numbers to equip the reserve divisions (category B downwards, mainly deployed in the Checoslovakia). It is only with the fall of the USSR and the modernization processes that it became the the main battle tank of the russian motorized division (armor divisions are still using T-80 to this day, along with some T-90s). Ukraine is still using T-64 (they were mainly built in Kharkiv in the Cold war).
