- The Power of Love, Huey Lewis & the News, Strand Capitol Performing Arts Center, York, PA; March 20th, 2014; Spring Tour, 1st song of the encore
Huey Lewis and the News is a great band--great songs. Power of Love is certainly one of their best!
Thanks for coming to Halifax so many years ago. I could not attend the concert but honored to meet you as your salesperson at the hotel gift shop. Keep well and hope you can vacation in nova Scotia again incognito as you are still hip to be square with the power of love!
Great video. I grew up listening Lewis to it and to this day it's the song that plays the loudest in my car. Thank you.
One of the best songs of the 80s!!!
I just love Huey Lewis & The news, great musicians and best songs EVER!
Absolutely love him.....this popped up on my feed. Something about Huey just takes me back. Thank you for all your wonderfulness.
This song never gets old. Love it. :)
Thanks to flux capacitor
Nancy Singh couldn’t agree more
Amazing chunk of my childhood on that stage with Huey Lewis and the News ( my mi-teens) with of Tower of Power (4yrs & Beyond)! Much love to Huey Lewis & The News!!!
Forget all the analyzing comments and just have fun. That is what Huey and the guys are doing, just having a good time.
Wooley689
Wooley689 Thank you!
He looks and sounds a lot better than most who come back after 25 or more years. The band did very good.
Sadly, Mr Lewis has a debilitating hearing disease called meniere’s . He’s unable to sing along with musicians any longer. He was interviewed about this and it’s also on RUclips video if you care to watch it. Feel really bad for him. He was once a very powerful vocalist.
I am so disappointed due to this hearing disease which I hope he can overcome it. I love this band very much and wish him and the band much success in whatever they can provide music and still enjoy music. Love them!
He has wealth. a beautiful ranch in Montana, and some wonderful hobbies. I can't feel bad for him, he's lived a blessed life.
@@finnmcginn9931I really don’t think he wants anyone to feel bad for him. He’s trying his best to make lemonade out of the sour lemons he’s been dealt. There are two Broadway shows currently playing featuring their music. Pretty darn cool, if you ask me! I’m not giving up on him with his hearing situation. I’m still holding onto hope that things will turn around for him. I try to believe that miracles do happen. 🙏
Love Huey Lewis and the News!!!
Pray for Huey!!!
man have a great voice its just heavenly voice of the 80's 😎
It sucks to get older. I still respect Huey and his music. But he has lost alot. But as a 61 year old musician, so have I. I get it. Still love ya Huey.
Brian johnson doesnt agree, he doesnt want to age
Most people would bash you for saying that then singing like that after. But literally he just explained why his voice is strained. Same song every night. Makes a vocalist resent the most important thing that happened to them. That’s the power of power! Want that fame and fortune then would trade it all back for normalcy. Tell me I’m wrong Hue. I think the world of how u handled your fame brother. God bless u all
FUI ...SOU E PARA SEMPRE SEREI FÃ DO Huey Lewis...MEU MAIOR IDOLO DOS Anos 80...ETERNAMENTE.
Tremendo !!!! La pucha que música que teníamos en los años 80....La guitarra principal..la rompió !!! Mis respetos por siempre muchachos!!!!gracias por tan buena musica
Tremendous !!!! Damn what music we had in the 80's...the lead guitar...he broke it!!! My respects forever guys !!!! thanks for such good music
Wow... everytime i get to hear this tune is exciting!!
That lead guitarist killed it, fucking yes!
Time to lower the key. I saw these guys about 20 years ago. Still one of my favorite live shows, but this song is just too darn high now.
And too darn loud!
Time waits for no one. Sting lowered a lot of the Police stuff I think.
@@media_dept Many groups do it. There's no shame in it.
Why? You are hearing from a cellphone mic. Listen to the actual concert recording. How can you make a suggestion when the recording is shitty bootleg cellphone?
@@defiverr4697 He's flat at times. He is clearly straining to make the notes. It's pretty obvious. It doesn't matter whether it's a cell phone recording or not. I love Huey. One of my all-time favorite acts. It is what it is. Father time is undefeated.
Made me wanna watch Back to the Future instantly.
Huey always gave a great show. I was at that show. It was a good concert. The whole band always gave it everything. He had several concerts in a row then. I had gone to another show a few days before
Love these guys!!!
Severus Snape on guitar ladies and gentlemen!!
He has nothing on Chris Hayes
Chasers Different
Steph can really play.
Sad to hear Huey no longer performs.
He has suffered severe hearing loss. Came on pretty suddenly. Prayers for him. 🙏🏼
That was a great concert!
That was a pretty good BD. Saw Johnny after and got a picture with my sister. But couldn't find Huey. They were so full of energy.
I think Huey should stick with these players, they're really good professionals, and know exactly what they're doing.
Feel the power of love. Can you feel it.
His hearing may have been at 20% at this time and only had hearing in one of his ears for most of his career.😪
They should take songs down a half step. It wouldn't be a huge difference but Huey would sing a lot better. Just my opinion.
I guess the band likes to see him suffer...lol
I loves me some HL&N for sure! But yeah, I gotta agree that this would be better a half or whole step lower these days.
True.
I came here fully expecting the band tuned a half step down. No shame there.
The vocal cords are a muscle group and you can't be vocal Schwarzenegger forever.
Couldn't stand listening to the whole song. I'd say a whole step down!
Half step down will become with no identity!!! Struggling, but the same as known!!! Awesome!!!
Huey is a great actor as well..check him out in DUETS if you haven't already. it's a karaoke filled movi e staring Gwyneth Paltrow, Maria Bello, Paul Giamatti to name a few ;0)
Power 2 the 80's👑
save yourself 4minutes 3:53
Thanks
Yes, thank you!
Thx
Thanks
Why
Love it. Reminds me of my freshman year at good ole ASU Tempe.
back to the future
this was my nephew's wedding song.
Huey is Huey forever!
반갑네요 여전한 목소리네요
Look man I appreciate you posting this video but... it’s just to darn loud
still has it sounds great
Love music !!!!!🥰🤩
Severus Snape is magic with the Strato!
Great Scott!
That was a good job at recording this song!
Huey L. & the News is a Legend in their own Time! Etc.
First I have to say I love Huey Lewis and this is my favorite song of his. Sadly though his voice is pretty shot and the suggestions to lower the key seem appropriate. On a similar note have you heard Ann Wilson of Heart recently? Although she has gained weight since her early career, she still sings her ass off. Her voice has held up as well as any rocker's from back in the day. But Huey is still a cool dude and I am glad he still has an audience and is performing.
Never seen Stef Burns play with this band before - usually he is the guitarist of choice of italian rocker Vasco Rossi
great guitarist
Ну да - звучит уже иначе. Но что уж - прошло много лет
why cant just low the song's key?
Por favor vem tocar no Brasil.
Ooh, Ole Huey is having trouble hitting on that key. Might want to transpose down a bit!
Thought it was Jimmy Dorr in the thumbnail. Lol
MUY BUEN VIDEO
I hope your not thinking of taking up camera work as a career path.....On a sadder note...Huey and the News were the first real payed to see internationally famous band i ever went to see and it was during their hey day...Sad to see Chris Hayes no longer doing lead guitar and sad that Huey can't reach those high notes anymore but it happens to the best of them.
Paul Roma Nerve touched much lol
+Paul Roma *triggered*
hes like 85 yrs old let him be
Got two words for you - Suck It!!!! Either that or read up on fat loss methods. Seems you like a lot of that on your youtube channel. Blurb Blurb.
7Earthsky Wow, what the fuck crawled up your ass. You are rude. If you said something like that to me, I'd kick your ass.
He strained his voice too much early in his career doing powerful songs like this and If This Is It so that's why he can't sing as clearly. Happened to Meat Loaf too.
It's definitely a hard song to sing. I think he still does a good figure nonetheless.
1957user - I saw the Stones 2 years ago in Philly and they still rock and kill it with their energy. Top band althought overinflated prices for tickets.
1957user Meat had an incredible voice range and a unique vocal type but it wasn't really suited for the music of the time or this time. Huey is one of my favorites and he's got tons of hits compared to Meat who had Paradise by the Dashboard Lights, maybe Bat out of Hell, and Anything for Love. Meat destroyed his voice far too early in the late 80s
He was losing his hearing here - couldn’t hear pitch anymore.
Has been diagnosed with Ménière’s disease. And had to stop performing.
🔥🔥
Autores: Huey Lewis / Chris Hayes.
... is that old Marty McFly on guitar?
la verdad es una y fue una banda muy exitosa de.los 80 ..pero lamentablente ya no estan los mismos que si eran una banda ochentera.
I wonder if Huey Lewis and the News ever headlined? Think about that one for a sec. ;)
Lol !ok think about this... in there prime they had two albums back to back with 12 top 10 hits! They were very hard to compete with . Time waits for no one, by this point he was going deaf :/I would like to see your musical accomplishments!! I’ll wait ...
Eat a duck Danny:)
@@davididdins5616 Totally took this the wrong way. I'm sure there are other people who got the play on words.
Is He Steve Burns?!? :O_
cool! Like!
YIKES!
Love this tune but i thought it was a karaoke! Didnt realize was actully the original band :)
I know most of these singers lose a little off there voice as they age and I see a lot of comments about stepping down a key.... but it also sounds like he was already starting to have hearing issues that he got diagnosed with in 18'.
Is there a version where Huey sings in English?
Chris Stamato I'm not Japanese, you smelly cat-lady.
Chris Stamato I'll admit it's not quite as bad as Vince Neil singing live with Crüe.

Chris Stamato dude should just be outhitting balls at the Old Course ⛳️ 🏌️♂️ enjoying his old age
Reaay good
Mint
vocal warm ups huey ..
He had the start of Meniere's disease, and couldnt hear pitch anymore. It’s forced him to pretty much stop completely.
Кто смотрит это в 2023?
He doesn't sing as good as he used to. He sounds like he has to strain to reach the high notes.
ear plugs?
I'm here for the Sax..
We dont really need almost 4 mins of waffle before the song
He still looks good but his voice...!
He's still good and all but why didn't they transpose all the songs one or two tones down so that he can hit the fucking notes?
mantra3000 because this song just doesn't work transposed. It sounds awful. Run it through audacity and try it for yourself. It totally ruins the song.
Im so sorry boys but I am afraid that you're just too darn loud
3:50
Got hearing aids now he can hear better😊
Huey's doing his best but he's nearly 64 years old here and the song is just tuned a little too high.
Ikikthatsongoiwereoflov
Huey Lewisも老けたなあ~w。観なきゃよかった><
lower the key u are playing please
He has Meniere's disease and can’t hear pitch anymore. He’s stopped performing these days. Such great songs though!
At 65 he's lost it. It happens to most artists. Paul McCartney and the eagles are in theirs 70s and still have it, their lucky
Also Little River Band (minus the original bass player); their vocals are impecable.
also a-ha
Just drop the key it would sound so much more natural, this sounds a mess.
Hmmmmm. Doesn't sound like he can do it anymore
when Ed plays. i dont care.
looks like Al Franken...
FAIR WARNING
sing it pops..i got 2 go 2 work today,,,zzz,,,dad said you were not boring..i cant tell,,,21 minutes..
Ouch
WTF is he doing? Didn"t they rehearse? He hits only 75 % of the tones. Time to lower the keys, Huey
Meniere’s has taken his hearing. Very sad. Once a powerful vocalist.
Yikes!!!😢
Once very powerful vocally, he now suffers from Ménière’s disease. So sad for him. 😢
vocals - ouch!
He has Meniere's disease - can’t hear pitch or key anymore.
Almost four minutes of a video we don’t need to watch. Jeeso
he's getting obviously flat in 2014.. god this must be awful in 2022. stick to the older stuff.
