When you take connectors apart, use electrical tape and draw, for example, a star on each end or a pound sign. Then, when you connect them all back up, star to star, pound to pound and so on. Never confused then. I do this with eveb the most simple stuff because it's easy to get wrong and can go really bad really fast if it is wrong.
most times with pipes with clips, you put the clip on the pipe before and when you push the pipe in, it clicks in place and so you don't have to struggle to put the clip in afterwards
Quality video mate, I started following after Calvin released his video with you and I'm glad I did! There are so many haters on here, I don't know how you cope. But 99.9999% of the people love ya mate, so keep going! 😅
Belting series this Jesse. Fair play to you for building up the confidence to tackle this stuff and on the driveway of all places. Could do with a unit tbf. I wish i had the confidence to do this. Keep up the good work buddy. 🙂
I share your pain with that wretched thermostat. I did an R56 Mini recently which uses the same engine. Getting that bloody clip back in was an absolute nightmare. In the end I actually removed the cross over pipe it clips into which runs across the back of the engine into the rear of the water pump housing. I then put the thermostat housing and cross over pipe back in as one unit and just had to push the end of the cross-over pipe back into the water pump housing. What a ridiculous set-up 🤣😢😱
Why do people comment negative stuff on here. Critique is fine but pointless bitchy nonesense says a lot about you. This lad has the balls to push for his dream, and whether he makes it or not is irrelevant. He's achieved more than most of you already who are still sat on your arses doing nothing.
Exactly. I remember whe. He had to wait 2 days for lee lock wood to come fit something to his car. Now look where he is. Can only be jealousy that brings the snide comments.
It's actually mental. Some how came across his videos but absolutely loving them. Also saw a personal question in the last video...why? I don't get it.
Done this job on cooper s, same engine, pig of a job but recommended to replace that pipe that goes the water pump so don’t have to put that clip on in situ, also rear pipe is plastic and prone to cracking, lots of them in cooper s and gti that are low mileage as don’t make it to high mileage unless had lots of timing chains and more done, prone to oil consumption due to poor ring design and coking up
Smashing it Jesse 👌 others are just moaning as they don't like Peugeot but its not about liking each car, its about swapping for something more valuable
Great video in this series, shows what its like for the driveway mechanic very well. As you say 76 pounds well spent, with hours and hours of work to complete the job. Its turned out well , nice modern car for someone in good condition. Best wishes from a long time viewer.
Well done for producing such good content and positive attitude, keep up the format and content. Your quickly becoming one of my favourite channels. Good luck 🤞
Whoever is watching this that hasn't subscribed yet, come on guys, just click that button! It costs you nothing. This lad is grafting his arse off on his driveway and that's all he is asking for to produce these videos for us
good job your doing well keep going your subs will rise also yes modifying your stepping stones only makes sense if you aim at a certain market its best to build to manufacturing spec to attract all potential swaps
Nice work Jesse! I agree with you about not modifying these cars as you go. Just fix them and swap them on. Some fresh £150-£150,000 plates and send it on its way. Keep up the good work
Get yourself a bag of extra long zip ties. That wiring loom could have been tied up out the way. Also, lubricate any seals with fresh fluid engine oil for rocker cover gasket and coolant for the thermostat. And it's always worth picking up a torque wrench and searching up torque specs for things that have gaskets, Google 99% of the time will bring up a forum or diagram that will include the correct torque specification. As well as torque specs the pattern you tighten up the bolts in matters. I may be telling you things you already know but just some good general knowledge to bear in mind.
Re the battery being in the way to observe for leaks. What you can do is put the battery on the driveway and run a set of jump leads to the cables in the engine bay. Had to do this to adjust the idle air screw on my 300zx because Nissan decided best place for it is obstructed by the battery.
Well done . Really impressed. those fiddly jobs are a nightmare . Looks like the paint needs a bit of love. Maybe another video of deep clean+polishing and vax. Then you will have another video and probably you will not spend any money because as a car guy im sure you have all the necessary products and tools to do it. Keep on going mate your videos are a pleasure to watch.
Good video and nice to see a Peugeot with minor problems. It's a good job you got this 208 and didn't go for a cooper S with the same engine as the mini engine bay is smaller which would be more difficult to work on. Hopefully you swap it for something easier to work on.
Me and my son spent many frustrating hours working on a 207 with a EP3. That hard pipe connection is nonsense. Had to take 17 parts off to change oil filter housing gasket. We did the chain and everything. We always put some sealant on 3 places on the rocker cover gasket as per Haynes. Loving your content and your mission. Subbed😎
I watched your videos 5 or so years ago. They started to get a bit stale, and i left. But this series is good, you have more knowledge (not hard, you knew as much as my mrs 😂) definitely a good channel again now. Good lad 👍 hope you keep this level of content going.
Jesse, keep doing your thing lad, guarantee within a year you'll have a unit local to you for videos for you and the Mrs to progress to the level you aim for on a weekly basis....also get ya Dad and the Mrs involved in projects....works for others in the game and I think you'll have a right laugh along the way....much respect 🙏 👍 😉 ❤
Loved the comment ‘a working peugot’ lol There is no such thing haha - perfectly up to scratch - haha - get rid before it breaks again buddy Love this series - subscribed buddy
Great video and outcome on the GTi. You can pressure test and then afterwards fill coolant by vacuum. The kits are inexpensive. Make sure all the coolant is washed out of the engine bay as it’s not good. Mmm we wonder what’s coming next.
@@JesseCollingham ignore what people say. The car is worth more than the others, you’ve fixed it. You definitely didn’t make a mistake. You in for a good turn.
Not ever worked on one of these but with the awkward pipe on the thermostat. Could you not have connected that hose first then fully installed the thermostat after that?
Doing jobs that a garage would charge hundreds and outside on the drive....getting proper stuck in now bud you should put down hours spent after and total it up see how much the going rate for all the work you've done your smashing it bud 💪

Good call on avoiding the modifying in the series. It never actually adds any more value than it costs and limits the people who may want it.
It's actual mad how far you've come man the quality of your videos nowadays are honestly unreal compared to the past
