I've used it to protect knots for years. I also reuse them when I end up cutting the bait off completely for something else, I leave extra line on the cut off end to be used later.
I use a stirrer straw with my wacky and neko rigs to help keep the worms from getting ripped up. The bobber stop keeps the worm from flying off the hook.
Not sure I get how that would stop you from snagging your line while walking the bait. Braid floats, it's extremely flexible- and that's what causes you to basically walk the lure over the line it's attached to- how does putting a bobber stop out front stop that?
Glad to hear this one ..Gonna get some. Thanks for video . That fluke is working .during post spawn .Got a spot on a small swim bait head shakes. They fight good..Bout two pound. Apreciate.
Great info. I thought about using one with something like a free sliding swivel for just a touch of weight to keep my flukes down without extra knots needed.
I always use Decoy versatile keeper as wormkeeper I have never tried Decoy texas lock pegs but I will, since you are so positive about them and the ones I use slide on the line to easy. Thanks !
I fish a flooded forest. I use 2 small bobber stops above the weight and 1 small bobber stop below the weight to protect the knot. That way when I bring the bait over the tree limbs, my tungston weight is not moving around. Just a system that works well for the area I fish.
Matt, my home lake is Table Rock. For years I have used a bobber stop to protect my knots on most jigs, especially FB Jigs and Wobble Heads. I used to lose fish on these lures when I did not “protect” my knot. No more.
I use bobber stops on my drop shot rig. I place one stop on my line then run the line through the eye my hook. Then add a second stop. I do not tie my hook on but leave it free swinging. A small swivel and a drop line to my sinker. If you don't have a swivel then just tie a triple surgeons loop, cut one end and use it as a drop for your sinker. Since the fish is pushing on the knot and not pulling on it the knot is not going to brake.
Never thought of the hook👍👍 I use them for my drop shot rig I put a size 12 or 14 barrel swivel above my sinker leader ( what ever length) above the swivel there is a bobber stop right above swivel, my drop shot hook, then another bobber stop above it few inches so the bait can really move. Works great
I started using pegs instead of bobber stops on Texas rig weights a couple weeks ago. But I really want to try one on the hook to keep the soft plastic from sliding down. That's pretty slick!
I use them in similar ways. Also I use them some times to add a blade to the line when fishing a crankbait especially bluegill or crappie pattern baits. I do use for catfishing when putting a swivel I put bobber stop bead the clip swivel bead then stop.
Rubberbands come in handy for reel/line storage. After fishing, cut lure off. Pass tag end through the rubberband from the back 5-6" and pitch it on left. Wrap tag end around left side of band (away from u), around, then insert it into the band (top-down between the line and the band). Pull right side of band to tighten. Loop rubberband around reel handle.
You can use bobber stops to protect a knot, or you can use a tiny glass bead at the knot and then a larger glass bead between the tiny one and the weight. The sound and color attract bass. Or so I’m told.
I throw a prop bait like a devil's horse on braid & put 3 cylinder shaped stops ahead of bait, snugged up against the knot & each other. It keeps the braid from wrapping on the front prop.
I tried to do that bobber stop on the hook to hold the worm thing before and all I ended up doing was stabbing my finger really bad. So, yeah. I'm not coordinated enough for that, lol. But I like the Texas rig/Split shot rig idea. I am definitely using that when I head out to the private lake this week. Also - My amazing wife secretly went and rented a cabin on a 43 acre private lake and surprised me with it! Taking the Bass Buggy out on Monday. Stocked with Florida strain bass - Average weight is said to be north of 5 pounds! I don't believe it, but it's still nice to think about, lol.
In Ukraine, we also use bobber stop in some variant of drop shot, I can't link a pic on RUclips comment, so I will leave it in your Facebook post. Anyway, thanks for your tips. By the way, if you will have time and willingness can you make a video about using split shot rig (mojo), because there are not that many on RUclips, and they are all old ones. Well, I don't know, maybe anglers in the USA don't use in anymore, though.
We're still curious about your day one at the Guy tourny.?. My own day was rough, vis of 3" storms popping up all over. squeaked out two buck bass, five for the boat. Five hours on the water and I looked like a wet dog. Everything is super high! The first lake, the launch was shut down! It's eight foot under water. But did get to fish after a week of rain. I just won't fish with lightning, graphite and all. We're still going to try tomorrow.
Wow! That was an awesome video!!!!👊🏻 Never thought of all the ways you can utilize the bobber stop. Like the one about the Texas rig where you can move the stopper up the line with the weight and fish a different technique with the same rig tied on. 👍🏻 FYI: I placed an order at TW used your link, hope you got the credit or whatever they give you. Stay Safe & God Bless!!!
Have you ever thought about the moon being up during the day and how it affects fishing for big bass? I really never have but Butch Brown says he'll find something else to do besides fishing if the moons up during daylight. He says he's kept records of all his double digits and big bass don't bite good then. I focus more on wind and clouds (good) calm and no clouds (sucks)
Hey Matt… question. Will you build me a rod? Yeah I can build a rod and I have but I want a rod built from THE MAN! Can you imagine having a custom rod built by Matt Stefan! Dude that’d be SICK!
@@MattStefanFishing well hey I’m your guy! A 7’3 medium or MHspinning rod for ned rigs would be an awesome rod to give away to that Jason clown 😂. Nah, I’d pay ya for it. Probably wouldn’t be enough because it’s gonna be awesome quality but I’m dead serious man. A MHX custom by you would be mind blowing.
My brother who is the best fisherman I know uses them for a particular setup. I don't remember. I really don't. I just know that some setups require them.
I've been Texas rigging since before you were born . The Bobber stop on the hook to keep the worm in place might be the greatest tip ever.
Awesome!
I never thought about using it to protect my knot thanks great advice
Glad it was helpful!
Love your statement, “stick with what you have confidence in.”
its very true!
Great tips. I really like the idea of protecting the knot and moving it up to split shot. Will really come in handy. Thx
awesome!
Great tips and I also enjoy the video where you showed how to save the used ones on a needl I do all that now
thanks!
Valuable tips! Love the trailer hook demo, one of those, “why did I not think of that?” Moments. 😂
awesome!
Excellent points. Didn’t realize all the other uses I never thought of.
nice!
You can also save them * reuse them ! Bill lowen has a video on how to do it simple ! Like that bait holding deal ! Learned something today ! Ty !
yep!
Thanks for this awesome tip.

I've never used them , I didn't know they were that versatile. Thanks

This was very useful advice. Thanks.

Very helpful information! Thank you for the content! Absolutely going to try these tips out in the future!

Great ideas! I do use them for more than just a slip bobber, but now you've really got me thinking! Thanks😀
Happy to help!
Great tips. Thank you.

Some great information Matt. Going to try a couple of them tricks out
Great to hear!

Thanks for watching
awesome thank you! 👍👌
You're welcome!
I like the bait-lock in the T-Rig and trailer hook features. Never used one, but I’m open to trying. Thanks 👍🏼😎👊🏼

I use a stirrer straw with my wacky and neko rigs to help keep the worms from getting ripped up. The bobber stop keeps the worm from flying off the hook.
cool!
Use one in front of your topwater if you are fishing straight braid. This prevents the line from snagging your hooks without a mono leader. Thanks
good tip!

Do you ever glue or fully peg your wt. To the worm head in super heavy cover?
I don't

sounds good to me
Yep! They work great for DSing. I don’t fish for money so that’s a whole different animal. For me it’s perfect!
OK Mr Stefan. Please show how you get that bobber stop on your hook please 🙏. I tried several times only got snagged😂
i just slid it on
@@MattStefanFishing hmmm I'll try a different style. Thank you 👍

Works great for speckle trout with a cork and a live croaker
very cool!
Thanks you Matt!
My pleasure!
Great tips Matt thank you .What size bobber stop do you use to go over a hook shank?
i just use whatever i have but the larger size is easier to use
I use bobber stops for drop shot instead of tying my hook. I just make my knot on the weight. So much easier for adjusting your length
thanks for sharing thats a great tip
@@MattStefanFishing 2 bobber stops on top and on bottom of the hook.

peg it

Use a bobber stop when fishing swim jigs in grass. A bobber stop just before the knot will keep grass from catching the lure.
good tip!

During the shad spawn is better yo fish at night or just before sunup? I fish alot at night .
night and sunup are great. shad spawn all night
How are you getting a bobber stop over the point of the hook without hooking yourself?
takes some practice

I use one on a double fluke rig. It keeps the front fluke from going up your line too far on a cast which will ruin your distance and accuracy
