PSP/PS2 version sounds slightly different if you compare both version's endings when a big twist is revealed. Not mine, but the PS2/PSP version like this:

I personally prefer the Wii version, because it's hauntingly sad. After beating the game I was looking for this song desperately for some months.

Spoilers for RE8 DLC:
Rose thought the opposite; she thought her father, Ethan, left her with a curse, her power which brought her a great deal of monsters on the way. The tragic thing? He didn't even intend to clear up her thoughts about him. He pretended to be her Gabriel, her guardian angel. He wanted to protect her, even without giving himself the credit along the way (he was communicating with her with words on objects and he could've easily literally spelled that out to her). He didn't want her for forgive him at all, and he was fine with that as a father. He just wanted to protect her, even if she thought her father was the negligent father, and the other strange force there she knew nothing about was saving her.
He didn't want to reveal himself, before he needed with Miranda which he didn't know he would need to. He just wanted to know if she did after she mentioned her father to the guardian angel.
Imagine you being a father beyond the grave, with your daughter having no memories of you beyond her 1-2 first years of age. You aid her in her nightmares, and you know she thinks you're just a bad dude who spent his nights away from home, and you know that what she thinks. And you know that is all she'll think of you for all of her lifetime. You don't care, but you do. All you care is saving her, and knowing her anger at you, you just let her that way. You know with her anger, bringing up that topic would only enrage her at you for.. leaving her alone all those years. How would you answer her that question?
And for those who think it's a dream nightmare, it is said it's the memories of those in the megamycete, but how are Ethan's power, who is just a dude who was exposed to the thing mold, stronger in the nightmare than those of the actual test subject, Eveline, herself? Like is that just a plot hole or am I messing something? The only thing Miranda mentioned is Jack's punch and the mold infesting him, which is at best just a wild natural coincidence, compared to the actual controlled, scientific lab experiment. Imagine a steel rod you find on the road being a better building material that the one made through testing and high temperature furnace manufacturing. Nothing makes any sense.
Speaking of which, does that not mean The Duke is truly, not in cut content but this we have today, is also plagued with the cadou?
This is one of the only games Ive played that has a twist ending I sincerely didn't see coming.

Sorry for your loss I lost my father at 9 and my mother at 15 and playing this game hits hard bc of Cheryl and her inability to let go being an all to real feeling I dealt with

"Forget me" as he slowly backs away from his daughter and turn into nothing but solid ice
+Lost Exile The ending that broke my heart was when he smiled sadly and said "I'm not even a ghost" and they hugged while she cried. Ugggh, that hurt. This whole game hurt by the ending, as someone who lost their father at a young age suddenly. I was 5 though, not 7.

@@KyoSohma2211 Sorry for your loss I lost my father too at 9 or 10 and eventually my mother at 15 so I wholeheartedly agree this game really hits hard for someone who’s experienced loss especially with Cheryl being unable to let go as that really is a true feeling I and many others have felt

After so many years leaving aside Shattered Memories, I've finally realized how good it really was, I'm not ashamed to say that I cried, a lot
Just hearing this music again still gives me goosebumps. It's such an underrated piece of art

This game tends to get a bad rep from most people I've encountered, but I like it.
Most people are a pain. They aren`t satisfied when the game is like the first Silent Hills because they want something new, but when they get something new, they complain because it`s not "Silent Hill like."
I agree with you, I like the game a lot, too.
the only good thing about this game was because Yamaoka and Mcglynn still present in soundtracks, everything else was a pitiful distortion of it's original plot, deal with it. it had some purchases because the franchise title but it does not deserve to be called Silent Hill.

@@RX-NoName I actually think of it as a sequel to the 1st game in where Silent Hill's events did occur but they take all those who have died in that world and gave them a chance to find peace.
Instead of punishing Cheryl Silent Hill (The Town) helps her find closure I really enjoyed the story of Shattered Memories it hits real hard at the end especially depending on the ending!
Yeah its almost like "silent hill exists to punish people" was just something in the one game that was specifically about guilt. It wasn't a "punisher" in 1 or 3 or 4 either. The town is whatever it needs to be for current story.
The Silent Hill Shattered Memories universe is so interesting, wish we got to see more of it, Climax definitely did the best Silent Hill games post Team Silent imo

The fact that Harry Mason in this game is technically one of the physical embodiments/monsters in Silent hill pops up in my head sometimes
Just finished the game and it was a good experience overall (despite the lack of gameplay... nightmare world...) but the ending was really special to me and that music brings back a lot of memories ! Good job on how to make great endings like these. Thanks Konami.

I love this music...and this Game
This was the closest climax got to the original silent hill games. I know its a reimagining of the first game but still. Almost everything was there, mystery, exploration, a gripping story. But the lack of combat and creature design was a let down. I wonder if this will ever see a re-release.
Shattered memories is,that hidden treasures that everyone under values, and as much as I loved the game, I doubt they'll ever revisit it again because that will be like a remake of a remake
