This song is literally an expression of every person who dealt with and dealing with mental illness and the constant struggle of trying to understand yourself.
It hurts how accurate this is... I've never even played shattered memories, but this song hits too close to home. Nostalgic in a way... Which makes no sense.
I just finished the game today, and I cried a bit too. That ending is one of the most powerful endings I've ever seen, and the fact that it caught me completely off guard only helped bring on the tears. That moment when Harry walked into the office is burned forever into my mind. There is something just so incredibly powerful about this music combined with the scene... It's amazing.
i dont mean to be offtopic but does anyone know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my login password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Weston Josue thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
So basically, Cheryl and her dad Harry had a lot of good memories and she couldn't stop thinking about him. As you play as Harry Mason you're in Cheryl's head and the monsters that come at you are trying to stop you from getting to your destination. The little girl's shadow is Cheryl and she's telling you to stop trying to get there. When you're in the psychiatrists office you're playing as Cheryl. You go through the game and go through the memories and then you reach Cheryl and that's the point when the physiciatrist made Cheryl stop thinking about her dad and move on with her life. Her dad already died 18 years ago. This song just makes me want to cry. I think this silent hill is overall the best and the music fits the plot of the story.
From what I understand when Cheryl was a little girl her parents Harry and dahlia were divorcing either because they stopped loving each other, dahlia was being abusive towards Harry or Harry had a drinking addiction ( based on the player's choice) and one day Harry had a horrible car accident and died and so Cheryl thought it was dahlia's fault so she decided to sleep with her high-school teacher to fill in the gap that made her believe Harry was her shining armor, so in the game you're playing as Harry trapped inside Cheryl's mind and have the pink beings chase you they represent Cheryl's refusal to believe Harry's death was because of her, and on the other hand you play as Cheryl inside Dr Kaufman's office and he basically guides you to the truth, the emails and phone calls you get tells you litte bits about Cheryl's life, and after revealing the truth Cheryl finally understood the situation and move on with her life just as her dad always wanted her to do.
Not the best Silent Hill but is definitely up there imo. Dunno why this gets a lot of hate, but I can understand the "Does not feel like a Silent Hill game" part. But that's what makes it quite unique, not a lot of riddles or even bosses. The game is overall quite easy. But I can tell they've focused more on the story part here which I think is a great damn choice. Each part is entertaining and dramatic. And the shit just builds up. It is quite unusual for a Silent Hill game since they are typically mysterious and atmospheric rather than active and pressuring, they are pressuring but in a... I dunno "silent" way I guess. Or rather disturbing and yeah, bone chilling. This game was definitely more "polished" than the previous Silent Hills, 1-4 specifically, from music to visuals. And SH 2 specifically was especially rather poetic in a way. Previous ones were more raw and experimental with a lot of filters going on, I loved it. But this was fucking nice too, I loved this one. I think they really understood what Silent Hill was really all about but decided to change it up a bit.
@@Milty2001not quite. Cheryl was in the car with Harry, but he was the only one who died. Presumably, Cybil was the officer that took over the case, and Cheryl was taken care of at the hospital by Lisa (that’s why Harry meets these people specifically, every person in Shattered Memories has a significance). Cheryl kept blaming herself for her father’s death, and maybe Dahlia did as well. She refused to believe that her father was dead, so she created this narrative in her head that he never died in the car crash and just kept looking for her like a hero. After 4 years, Dahlia sold the house on Levin street because she was struggling financially and they moved to a much worse apartment in a bad neighbourhood. The game gives us evidence that Cheryl worked as a prostitute, slept with her male teachers (yes because of daddy issues), was a kleptomaniac and was bullied at school.

"Cold-faded photos, they lay by your side Something in my room, never mind **the** reason." I have no idea how you thought the line was "Never mind Blue Reason."
Im a disturbed child given i was raised in a family that always quarrel but in the end were still happy. Maybe thats why I love this kind of game and also music..
Basically, Cheryl is coming to grips with her father's death through talking about a scenario her father Harry goes through - played by you - with the fraying logic being interrupted by the "Ice World" - this game's Otherworld. Eventually, Cheryl realizes that this is all a delusion at the end of the game, either coming to grips with it, or denying it and preferring to live with the lie depending on the player's actions.
i still remember i played this game when i was 9 years old on my small box tv in my ps2. everyday after coming home from school i used to play this all the time. truly an amazing game.

Shattered Memories is a game that should be experienced by each individual, alone and with no guides and preferably no prior knowledge. Its a game that hits harder especially during the lowest parts of your life. My story with it (TL;DR : it helped me get my mental state stable) Full story: I played shattered memories after i supposedly finished treatment in a mental institution and several therapy sessions with a lousy psychologist. By the end, hearing Elizabeth McGlynn sing Acceptance i was left in tears, not because its a well done story that takes heavily from Jacobs Ladder. But because it was a game about me the player, its a game that spoke to me and felt theraputic, it was a game that judged my actions and how i was thinking where the goal wasnt to win, but to understand. Unlike other SH games Shattered Memories didnt make me focus on the characters, lore and core story going on but it was an experience that pushed me to think about myself in real life, it made me put myself in the shoes of not just Harry but Sherryl too, it felt like a part of me inside my unconsciousness is looking for answers or to make things better for me, but myself kept rejecting that and pushing it deep inside, Dr.Kauffman Scolding Cheryll sounded different and effective to me, since throughout the entire game i felt like he was addressing me the player but i think thats part of the intent to address both Cheryll Mason and you the player, him shouting angrily "WAKE UP!" felt real. After finishing this game i felt like i was cured, months of treatment and therapy felt like they did nothing but this one game that is considered the black sheep of the series or one of the worst games helped me with my unstable mental state.

dragon stalone If you have a working PS2, you've gotta play SH2 and 3. Shattered Memories is good, a lot better than many people think it is, but SH2 in particular is what all survival horror should strive to be like. It's the Lu Bu of survival horror games.
try the first 3 games :) Those are silent hill games and this was just some game under Tom Hulett's supervision This game just destroys the image of the main games... silent hill 1 is as disturbing as a game can be silent hill 2 is a tragic story of acceptance, and silent hill 3 is the end of a horror story which... will forever stay in most people's minds
Despite no combat, this game was absolutely fantastic. The story was nothing short of phenomenal, especially with that twist that I did not see coming. Very few horror games can tell a story the way Silent Hill does, if any at all.
I got the ending where he was being beaten by the wife and the daughter walked.... it ended with the daughter repeatedly saying "I love my daddy" at the carnival then this song played. Not going to lie it gave me a lump in my throat.
Shattered Memories is my favorite Silent Hill game. You can't carry unlimited ammo, pistols, shotguns and slay monsters with them. Your only option is to run. Just like in real life. The ambiance of the game is magnificent. After all these years, I still go back and play it time to time.
Silent hill is so unique in many aspects because it’s all about the character struggles each monster signify the person anger, sadness, happiness, or depression. This game shows how he or she has to deal with it until the very end that’s why you will always see the character depressed and lost because of something traumatic in their past or recently. Then by the end of every game it’s always the character showing confidence and that he or she finally moved on with their lives and enjoy it every step of the moment and the end of shattered memories proved is it all you can never escape until you’ll face it head on
El único silent Hill que he jugado, me llevo una gran experiencia. El final cuando aparece el padre y le dice a la hija siempre estaré a tu lado es para llorar
The thing that keeps bugging me is that unlike many people I saw and met in this comment section. I pity them for their losses and unfortunate events happening to them. I have a perfectly healthy and loving family to begin with. But I couldn't understand why I feel terribly hurt whenever I saw someone relate to Cheryl's fate of denying her harsh reality so bad. However, I found the answer for that. To feel the pain is what makes you alive. To feel someone's pain, however, is what makes you a human.
i remember listening to this song when my family got into a huge argument, this song just seemed appropriate at the time. Such a soothing melody, but so unsettling....
Beautiful song for a beautiful game. Silent Hill's swan song. Fitting that the franchise should end with the beginning. Harry's story almost bookends the franchise. (Too bad the game was strapped to the wii.) This game was a much more fitting finale than Downpour. SH:SM felt like the farthest evolution of the philosophical ideas put forth by the previous games, while Downpour was just a stupid and forgettable horror game (with a few really good sidequests). Who knows, maybe one day we can get another proper entry to the franchise. One day...
but shatterd memories was a remake. if anything homecoming is the real ending since the cult was destroyed and downpour just showed that silent hill the town will not stop helping troubled people.
Yes, that's the simple truth. But, in terms of where the stories of silent hill games had gone, how they were connected, and how they were told, Shattered Memories can be considered an epilogue. It bookends both the type and style of storytelling the series is so well-known for, and its ending, which we seem to agree was interesting and well-told, is effectively the ending of the series as a whole, and a good way to do it.
Why should it matter, your dreams of a child? Innocence is gone. Only fear to play with Faces are changing, but nothing is changing the pain Too late... Goosebumps!!
i love this song so much... so beautifull...it even beats room of angel, that was my fav song before i played SM, this is a masterpiece...the game was awesome...short but awesome
Que juego.tan maravilloso , acabo de terminarlo y me dejo impactado , Grandeeee , en pocas palabras es hermoso , lo jugue en wii.. y vine directo a escuchar su ending ,, maravilloso '
i loved this game when i first played it in my PSP ages ago i hated the fact that Harry didn't have possibility to use guns but i understand in the end the fact of these monsters who were following him/her the ending scene is a masterpiece
my psp is nowhere to be found. its been so long since i played this game. I remember the game being good. Full of puzzle and phycological stuff. Maybe I need to play this again in ps2 emulator..
I heard this song in one of my nighmares, i can't stop crying. In this nighmare, i saw my father beating my mom with a stick, i didn't hesitate, i grabbed the other stick that was close to me and started fighting with him, at one moment, he stopped fighting back, and started crying, and i realized, he wasn't holding anything and he was not beating up my mom, i started crying too and i colapsed, i sat down holding my legs and i couldn't stop crying, then i woke up and started crying, the first thing i said to myself that morning was: "i love you daddy".

Time flows
Nobody knows
The years go by
Where we go
Alone from here
Night falls
Strange-colored walls
My eyes deceive
What is wrong
With me?
Deep in the night you think everything's right
Tell it to yourself. Say it's just a nightmare
Something is telling you nothing can change where you are
Again
Why should it matter, your dreams of a child?
Innocence is gone. Only fear to play with
Faces are changing, but nothing is changing the pain
Too late
Two steps I take getting closer and closer
And one more breath I take sends me further back
Over and over it calls to your soul
Say it isn't so. Emptiness surrounds you
No one can help if the angels refuse to come here
Who's there?

Something in my room. Never mind blue reason

dragon stalone If you have a working PS2, you've gotta play SH2 and 3. Shattered Memories is good, a lot better than many people think it is, but SH2 in particular is what all survival horror should strive to be like. It's the Lu Bu of survival horror games.
try the first 3 games :) Those are silent hill games and this was just some game under Tom Hulett's supervision
This game just destroys the image of the main games... silent hill 1 is as disturbing as a game can be
silent hill 2 is a tragic story of acceptance, and silent hill 3 is the end of a horror story which... will forever stay in most people's minds
Despite no combat, this game was absolutely fantastic. The story was nothing short of phenomenal, especially with that twist that I did not see coming.
Very few horror games can tell a story the way Silent Hill does, if any at all.
Silent hill could literally just make albums instead of games and i'll be happy about it.
This song had me in tears at the end, beautiful.
so beautiful... damn... this game is the best. It's so amazing it almost made me cry when I finished it.
It was really underrated. I loved the no combat aspect of the game. It brings back so many memories
@@leroysinclair8499 So many shattered memories, eh? Lol.
...or perhaps not.
I got the ending where he was being beaten by the wife and the daughter walked.... it ended with the daughter repeatedly saying "I love my daddy" at the carnival then this song played. Not going to lie it gave me a lump in my throat.
Shane Morin I recommend playing it again and getting the good ending, or even better the alien ending
I've been looking for this song forever!!!! I only heard it once, and I forgot the title.. . . so beautiful
Shattered Memories is my favorite Silent Hill game. You can't carry unlimited ammo, pistols, shotguns and slay monsters with them. Your only option is to run. Just like in real life.
The ambiance of the game is magnificent. After all these years, I still go back and play it time to time.
Haunting yet beautiful... Suitable for Silent Hill
beautiful yet haunting song, game didn't stick with me but his song did, it fits so perfectly
The feeling that this game gives is just priceless. There's some magic in these games...
Silent hill is so unique in many aspects because it’s all about the character struggles each monster signify the person anger, sadness, happiness, or depression. This game shows how he or she has to deal with it until the very end that’s why you will always see the character depressed and lost because of something traumatic in their past or recently. Then by the end of every game it’s always the character showing confidence and that he or she finally moved on with their lives and enjoy it every step of the moment and the end of shattered memories proved is it all you can never escape until you’ll face it head on
This is a beautiful game, I loved the story
To feel someone's pain, however, is what makes you a human.
the ending of the game made me cry :(
the game is fking awesome
thumbs up if you love the sensation that gives when you see the ending and this song shows up
it´s soo..
beaultiful
I want this song in music box form
They mix the darkness of the soul and the beauty of the sadnees, with her voice she gets me everytime :D is sooooo beautyful
Gets me every time, yet dark and beautiful.
This makes melancholy feel beautiful
14 years gone, 14 years to be gone. The sins of youth are the regrets of maturity.
when im despresed, im always listening this song. dont know why but this song more like peacefull and warm to me.
i remember listening to this song when my family got into a huge argument, this song just seemed appropriate at the time.
Such a soothing melody, but so unsettling....
Yikes.. that's sad to hear buddy but I hope your life gets better.
Yikes.. that is sad to hear buddy but I hope your life gets better.
Beautiful song for a beautiful game.
Silent Hill's swan song. Fitting that the franchise should end with the beginning. Harry's story almost bookends the franchise. (Too bad the game was strapped to the wii.)
This game was a much more fitting finale than Downpour.
Consider Shattered Memories to be... an epilogue.
Shattered memories isnt meant to be part of the series as its a stand alone game. It is easier if you think of it as non canon or a reboot
Apparently SM takes of from the bad ending in SH1. Which makes a lot of sense to me.
So I guess SM could be a re-imagining of sorts. :)
Why should it matter, your dreams of a child?
Innocence is gone. Only fear to play with
Faces are changing, but nothing is changing the pain
Too late...
Goosebumps!!
i love this song so much...
so beautifull...it even beats room of angel, that was my fav song before i played SM, this is a masterpiece...the game was awesome...short but awesome
Obra de arte, Mary Elizabeth and Akira Yamaoka best duo 😍❤

This song will haunt me until the day I die, and perhaps even after.
surely after too
This game hits you hard if you are coming from a broken family...
this song is dark and amaizing and beauty at the same time
i legit cried when i finished the game and i heard this song
i loved this game when i first played it in my PSP ages ago i hated the fact that Harry didn't have possibility to use guns but i understand in the end the fact of these monsters who were following him/her
the ending scene is a masterpiece
sempre me arrepio ouvindo isso, amo esse jogo
Amazing... iLove Silent Hill
Innocence is gone. Only fear to play with.
The actual Nina Williams(tekken6, tag2, 7 and 8) is singing, bravo👍
Hermoso... u_u
toda la razon. te hablo del futuro
my psp is nowhere to be found. its been so long since i played this game. I remember the game being good. Full of puzzle and phycological stuff. Maybe I need to play this again in ps2 emulator..
this is the song I got at the end, and it perfectly mirrors me.
not sure if that's good or bad...
I heard this song in one of my nighmares, i can't stop crying.
In this nighmare, i saw my father beating my mom with a stick, i didn't hesitate, i grabbed the other stick that was close to me and started fighting with him, at one moment, he stopped fighting back, and started crying, and i realized, he wasn't holding anything and he was not beating up my mom, i started crying too and i colapsed, i sat down holding my legs and i couldn't stop crying, then i woke up and started crying, the first thing i said to myself that morning was: "i love you daddy".
that sounds horrible :( i'm sorry you had to go through that
if you ever need to talk please hit me up. i've had nightmares constantly for years and they never get easier.
you can however learn how to respond to them.
@@mikau1585 it's ok bro, but thanks anyway, it has been some time that i have no nightmares, now i have cool and drmatic dreams wich i use as inspiration to write my stories
@@jameswolf3302 that's so awesome! some of the best inspiration comes from dreams. do you publish these stories online? if so i'd love to read one.
@@mikau1585 well, the thing is, english is not my native lenguage, and i post my stories in my native language, so, unless you can speak Brasilian Portuguese, you won't be able to read it, and im not very good in translating things from other languages, but, if you still want to chek it out, i post some stories in a website/app called spiritfanfiction, my profile name is papyruswolf

First three notes are same as moonlight sonata, my fave music to play on guitar
Listening to this again in 2022
One of the best Silent Hill songs.
Eleven years ago and here i am right now.
I really love this game, it's a good reimagining of the first game and it was damn sad in the end.
Amo esta canción casi llore con el final y las músicas que tenía fue el primer silent Hill que jugue
Anyone feels pain in their throat when you saw the ending of the game? I think when I was gonna cry but then hold back, causing my throat to feel a bit of pain...
At the end of it all, you join the many frozen faces... slowly coming to realize the world of ice is where you belonged this whole time.
I love it so much 🙏🏽

Это шедевр!
SILENT HILL: SHATTERED MEMORIES [MUSIC] - ACCEPTANCE
Many songs from the Silent Hill OSTs have more existential despair than Katatonia, Anathema, Archive etc.
I agree I watched the ending 3 times and by the last time I started to cry...
Recuerdo llorar al terminar esta obra maestra
I open this song when i got constipation. This song makes me relaxed

Haven't played this silent hill game, but the music is so awesome I want to buy it..
Beautiful voice...
Desearía sumergirme en un mundo así, completamente más eufórico del cual estamos padeciendo actualmente.

melhor trilha sonora, mexe com as emoções.
Realmente, esse jogo é fantastico.
1.SIlent Hill 2
2.Shattered Memories
holy crud , this song is so cool!!!
When you start a game of SHSM a version plays without any words.
Now that you mention it, it does have quite a bit of a resemblance. Good ear, man.
Twisted ending, never expected that. great song. 5/5
Im not going to mind saying it she has a voice that appears to have been made to do the SH series' soundtracks
My favorite game
BRILLIANT !!! From Spain
SH,SH2,SH3,SH The Room,SH origins and SH shattered memories is the best and the saddest game ever played by anyone who had bad life experience
3:31 I love this outro 🤧
I knew in past i say something funny and weird, because i am nobody, i can do wrong thing say wrong thing, all you need to do is to ignore everything, let go, get free.
