- The crystal collector checks out a public dig location for these awesome Geode crystal formations! Not even realizing until later that these geodes are rare and have a nice green fluorescent glow with a shortwave flashlight style UV light.
This site will leave you amazed!
One of the best geode sites in America!
This spot is lots of fun y’all! But do go prepared, the drive out there is not easy!
Thank You about the warning concerning Drivability/Road Conditions. My Wife-Rosie(49yrs) and I are both Disabled Seniors, and our Son, whom became a Paraplegic several years ago. We like your Channel and especially the videos and its contents. We like how you treat people AND ESPECIALLY MATRIX!!!
@@ROCKINWHEELERS I agree, My husband & I are both disabled too, and watch Brian & Matrix all the time! We Love Him & His Kindness!
The roads are wash boards with dirt and rocks. And do NOT aim your camera at Dugway Proving Grounds if you stop at Simpson Springs. The Army doesn't like it when you do that and won't hesitate to come speeding up the road and tell you to stop! LOL
It's a rough drive for a few hours to get there, but so much fun to get down in the dirt and dig up all the geodes you can find!
Also, if you're lucky, you might get a glimpse of the herds of wild mustangs that call our West Desert home. If the gov't hasn't taken them away yet!🙄
Yea
HELP
Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: Oh to be young again. I've been there and know the excitement of finding those crusty orbs. Thanks to your videos I don't have to live off of just the memories...you and Matrix take me there anew. I can feel the sun and wind...smell the air...taste the grit!
Oh, that’s so cool, yeah, this spot is amazing! I bet you’ve had so many awesome adventures it sounds like! We live again and again, you will have many more, countless 💎🙏🙌💜
@@TheCrystalCollector Bless you! It's a pleasure to ride along in your knapsack!
You are my favorite rock guy. I think I’ve watched every UTube video you’ve ever put out. You take rock hounding to a whole new level with your awesome, upbeat personality & your knowledge. Thanks you for all your work.
Oh wow, thank you so much! That means a lot, I have dedicated lots of time and effort with these videos. In fact, I was up half the night last night editing this one because I was running behind schedule, 😂
Your long time support is greatly appreciated 💎🙌
Great job on the editing Brian! Nice to see the pieces cut and cleaned as we go along the collection process...
10:03 it looks like a fake scoop of ice cream from a kids plastic play set, or something like that 😂 I love it! Awesome vid as always 💜
Beautiful finds , Thank you for taking us along 😊
I have been there with my Daddy many times through the years!!! I didn't know that they florece!!! I'm going to have to get one and check out all of mine!!! Thank you for sharing your hunt with us!!! God Bless!!!
Yes, they just introduced these short wave lights, I suggest you use one of those for best results, they start around $150, it took him a long time to come up with a technology for this, but they finally have it
Hi! I just wanted to say that I enjoy your editing style. It keeps the viewer engaged. Great thinking! Absolutely excellent!!
Thank you so much I really appreciate this comment! On this video, I spent a little bit extra time editing, probably about eight hours total, usually for a 10 minute video. I do it about four or five.
@@TheCrystalCollector well then I'm glad I said something 😊
Awesome geods! It's a nice surprise when you cut it open as you never know what you get. Love how it lights up with the UV light.
totally on the bucket list! multiple bucket list lol! that one at 5:30 on the right reminds me of Sid from the Ice Age movies lol! gotta get me one of those shortwave lights!
That was great. Thank you for sharing that with all of us. I really liked the igloo shaped one near the end.
Brian, My Husband & I just Love you & Matrix! We watch y'all all the time! 🤗🙏🏻 Stay safe out there!
WOWZERS!!! How fun- I didn’t expect them to glow- I loved that last piece! Super great specimens- thanks for the trip and info- 🤓
Yes, the new shortwave lights are amazing, they have been a long day you’re making something really show their fluorescence
It's a dream to be able to do that, I am such an incurable rock hound. I totally love it.
If you could ever make it to this location, go for it it’s so much fun!
Those are absolutely stunning! Love it! Thank you for sharing! 😊
Amazing how bright they fluoresce! Wow!
I've gone rockhounding at Geode Hill in Arizona the last few years. I didn't know there were other places to find geodes, now I know! Thx!😁
Awesome glow on those geodes. Love that little guy, Matrix.
I remember going out there when the turn off to the beds was marked by a paper plate, with an arrow pointing to the right drawn on it, nailed to a wooden post! LOL
We would stop off at Topaz Mountain on our way home and try our luck at finding some topaz and amethyst, but would only find clear shards of topaz from being out in the sunlight. Back then it took a 4x4 to drive up the side of the steep mountain to get to the mine.
If you want to go out to the beds the best times are April and May or Sept and Oct. otherwise it's way too hot in the summer or frigid, snow and ice in the winter out in our West Desert. There are no shade trees, services, or amenities, but it's great fun to dig down in the sand & dirt and find some beautiful geodes to take home with you!
Yeah, it is such a fun location, I went out about a year ago, and the road was washed out and you cannot even make it to the site
I already loved Matrix but omg those tiny kickin' feet of his are too effing cute!!!
😮😮💜💜 never thought they'd glow. I'll have to double check mine in the future.
I’ve never seen there types of geodes before, they are really cool!!!
I myself and a Geode and rock collector, they are just so beautiful lol
Glad to see you gave our geode beds a second try, you got some beauties
Goggles are definitely recommended 😂... What a beautiful selection you found, you would never get bored looking at them 👍
Hope some of these hit your ebay store. I just started collecting fluorescence minerals and recently bought a 365 nm light. The purple and green look amazing.
Yes, going to get some listed either tonight or tomorrow for sure! But remember the Long Wave 365 only likes him up about 60% of what a short wave will do.
Darn, thought 365 was good spectrum, now I see 254.
@@ryanpierce4158 Some materials also react to mid-wave.
@@ResortDog I bought some of these from the Ebay store and got the light from the video. They look even better in person. Plus it's cool seeing how some of my minerals react to shortwave and longwave differently. Also some reacted that I had no idea would
I've been looking for crystals since 2018 after a bad breakup, it helps with my coping. I have over 1000 of them
I need me a list of all these free locations! These are all absolutely goreous!
Here you go 💎🙌.

@@TheCrystalCollector This is why you're one of my favorite youtubers out here, you care about your fans and what they want to see. Honestly so underrated, love you Brian!
The crux of the biscuit is you are NOT allowed to sell things for "personal use only" collected from BLM or most state, county or military land unless you use them as materials for goods you are making.
WHAT !!! That's a very bright color !! Awesome !! WHOO HOOO FROM CALIFORNIA!!!JOHNNY AND CANDY!!!
I have Geodes from Dugway. I lived in Dugway in the mid 1960’s when my father was stationed there in the Army.
You lived at Dugway Proving Grounds. This Dugway Geode field us FAR away from there.
@7:50 it looks like a rose, so pretty
Great video! I love how those fluoresce!
Amazing video!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks 🙏
My wife, sister and myself were out there this past saturday. I believe we started in the area you start off in, at the beginning of the video, but was cut short when the sherpherders dogs came by to keep us away from the sheep haha. we did find a couple though. we will be back for sure.
Oh wow, I’ve never seen any sheepherders out there, it’s a fun place
Smiling 😃 back at you Brian
Much gratitude 🤗
Can you share info about your saw. Awesome video. On my bucket list next trip to Utah.
Absolutely beautiful!!
Oh man! What awesome finds! I wish I had stopped by there last year. Oh well, next time ❤
Open geode is very crazy
Great video!
Wow stunning geodes 💙💙💙
I’m trying to become a member and I can’t find where to join
Beautiful ..... thank you !🙏🏽💚🌏🌹
I went out to Dugway years ago when I was a kid. How have I not known that the geodes I still have from that trip will fluoresce in UV???
Please make more videos on geodes🎉😊
Beautiful my friend
Hi we want to know if you will be coming to South Carolina near the Blue Ridge anytime?
Yes, are you on Facebook by any chance? We are doing a meet up in a couple of weeks in Franklin for some Rubys.
Going to get a short wave uv light doesn't work with long wave, glad you mentioned this is a free dig location not a fee dig location that some jerks are taking people out there for a fee.
P.S. UV light will also show where Matrix has gone the bathroom on your Rocks
Love the geodes 😱
WHAAAT !! 💚💚💚
Bryan…how come chalcedony glows but agate doesn’t. Aren’t they the same base minerals?
I’ve always wanted to go digging for opal in Australia
Yeah, me too, maybe one of these days we can get to Australia
6:17 that's a Geode inside of a Geode. The small one formed first, then the big one formed around it. First time I've seen that happen.
It does appear to be that. Very cool.
Yes, I should’ve mentioned that in the video, but when we found that piece, we were talking about that as well, really cool I’ve only seen it a few times in my life!
Just passed you at a gas station in Orangeburg, SC. Where are you heading to now? 3/25 at 8:45 pm
Those are all over Wolf River in Kentucky. I collected a bunch a few years ago but I had no idea what they were. Now I know 😏
When did Convoy bring out the short wave light? What is the nm ? and where can i buy it? Thanks
I got mine from yooperlites.com. Not sure right off what the nm is, around 265 or lower I think?
hello , jist need a help . i got my two pointed clear quartz . then its na cold to touch. i tried to fire it by a lighter in pointed side then after 20 seconds it did not melt but it chip off the pointed side equivalent to maybe 1 to 2 percent from its total size. and about magnifying the letters it doesnt do that . what do you think ? thank you
Are pieces like the one at 7:54 considered to be "Thunder Eggs"?
@TheCrystalCollector where is it possible to get green obsidian? I heard about burns green and tachylite. Can you make a Video about the green obsidian that is so instinctive theme in the mineral community. Thanks
This was so awesome that even my husband couldn’t get his eyes off this video
Really!
@@peterdean9181. There are some awesome mining and rock hounding areas here in Las Vegas (Lake Mead has mountain’s of Selenite). I’m trying to get my husband excited enough to take me to some of those area’s. Videos like these perks up his interest hopefully enough to take me one day.
At 6:17 it looks just like an eye in the center of the glowing geode!
Them Geodes got that *Stoner* grin. 😂
Any places open to public for crystal hunting around Indiana or nearby states?
Awesome finds
I have that same shed. How bout putting them roof pieces on aye... All the holes line up too
I Love ALL CRYSTALS ..
Hey bro have you ever been to Michigan to the big lake and find some beautiful zoobalite
We went to the dugway geode beds and found a geode bigger than watermelon size it was amazing and it was blue white and gray
What is up with the host rock fluorescence being pink magenta color!? You didn't even mention it but I have never seen that.
CRAZY HAPPY GEODES 😁
I want to go. So cool.
So beautiful
At the beginning it looks like a happy sloth
Beautiful!

What is the significance of glowing rocks Crystal Collector Sir??
The ultraviolet light makes the particles jump around and glow
What causes them to fluoresce exactly?
Night dig with uv lights?? 😆 that might be fun
Oh that’s a great idea. I haven’t thought about that for the summertime.
Close to topaz mountain
I’m trying to join the crystal clubhouse and I can’t find a link on FB to join
Wonder what they would look like if it was just shaved down like shave off all the rock around it and leave the center untouched
That would be really neat!
Gotta love sterling hose!
What saw are you using and do you recommend it?
I’m just using it old cheap tile saw, that is wet
That little one looked blue!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't shortwave UV light pretty bad to expose your skin to? Pretty sure the shorter the wavelength, the easier it can damage your DNA and cause cancer. Probably not too bad with these short exposures, but that stuff can add up over time.
It’s similar to what you get from the sun but a little more concentrated, so yes, it would be dangerous to put it at your skin for long periods. It’s not too different fro the old school tanning beds But short term is no problem whatsoever.
The most traveled dog! He wants steak tonight😊
I thought you said you never cut geodes
That’s only when they are specifically from the Keokuk area. these geodes are a different breed, they are parts nodules so cutting looks best with these
Are those UV reactive geodes Sodalite geodes?
I think sodalite fluoresces orange. In the case of Dugway geodes, the bright green fluorescence is due to trace amounts of uranium in the chalcedony.
No not Sodalite
My daughter wants to go there but she insists on a helicopter 😅😂...she is a nutty rock head.
Thats how a lot of materials are gotten out of the closed by access areas, legal or not.
Love your videos totally jealous that you get to do that for a job haha
Maybe not that jealous. It’s a ton of time and hard work.
😍😍😍😍 beautiful I love it
i have some sample i want to show you i've asked around but no one know what it is i posted it on my youtube page an no comments i was wondering if you or those in your community could identify what it is for me
Are any of these light enough to float in water?
Nope
I’m from Arkansas and I’ll like to go hunt crystal’s with you
Wayyyy cool
Nice
I’m in Australia
Nice looking Geodudes LoL😅😆
The one looks like an igloo.
Do you share
Is it just me or does he really sound like Saul Goodman
