What state are you in? Every state has gems to mine! Jade is my favorite cause you can find hundreds of pounds of gem quality in one rock and all it takes Is a sledge hammer and some safety glasses and you can get tons with a bucket and a vehicle
Anywhere that's public land or recreational forest land, you're allowed to collect minerals and gems and wood unless posted otherwise or in a claimed area , many areas aren't claimable but are perfectly legally mineable with bucket and hand tools
I'm in oregon and my last post in my shorts is of a 100k gold specimen I found in gold beach oregon a town known for its gold that was once called Ellensburg back when the pirate captain who ruled the area from coos Bay oregon down to crescent city California named that area now known as gold beach, Ellensburg after his daughter Ellen a female pirate who lived in gold beach
Fun video, Bryan! Thanks for putting yet another new location on all of our radars. One of these days I will go out west again, and will try to make a loop and mine several of the spots you have shared. Thanks so much again!!
The best crystal gemstone mining location .Very inspiring and motivating .God bless you ..Greeting from Indonesian traditional gold prospecting 🇮🇩⚒️⛏️💎🙏😍👍
AWESOME !!!! I KNEW THERE WERE DINOSAUR BONES AND OTHER FOSSILS IN UTAH.. NOW BIXBYITE AND TOPAZ !! GREAT JOB BRYAN MAJOR !!! YOU ALL COMING BACK TO DIG CRYSTALS AND GEMSTONES IN CALIFORNIA THIS YEAR? HOPE SO. HOW IS LITTLE MATRIX? CAN.T FORGET YOUR NEPHEW DYLAN HOPE YOUGUYS ARE DOING WELL !!! TAKE GOOD CARE !! HAPPY DIGGING !
Rockhounded this area in the 90s. There were no active mines in the Topaz fields. Every thing on the surface was clear topaz, once the stone is exposed to sunlight it fades from a light peach color to clear.
Great video Bryan. It’s crazy how they all grow together! I’m a little confused about the pink topaz though. If it’s in the sun too long, will it lose all its color?
A web search for "Dig Crystals in Minnesota" or whatever state or province you live in will usually reveal something without 150 miles to dig. If nothing pops up for Crystals, substitute Gems or Fossils or Geodes. Or go with "Where can I did Bixbyite?"
If I ever win the lottery, I know what I'm doing. Its actually the only reason I'd travel to the states. The Shapes that nature create always amaze me. 🌛🌝🌜🇮🇪🤟
Never heard of Bixbyite. It's a first for me. I would love to gather some Apache Tears and larger glassy Obsidian. C'mpn back to California to dig some more gemstones !! Enjoy Memorial weekend, the unofficial kick off to summer !!! Take good care.
Fun fact, there are apache tears by the road near TheGemTours red beryl mine where I work, If you ever want to hit two birds with one stone. ~Christian
Great video. Does the topaz fade after it becomes pink? Or will it hold it's color? Do they ever find red beryl with the bixbyite & topaz? That would make a killer specimen.
Christian here, with TheGemTours. The Pink Topaz from Solar Wind doesn't fade clear, even if the pink is really light. It comes from the Mangenese inclusion. We do get bixbyite at the Red Beryl mine but they are all cubic. There are no Red Beryl at the Solar Wind Mine.
wow, I'm happy to see your video, natural stones are so beautiful, greetings, I'm also one of those who like natural stones, greetings, I'm from Indonesia
Old Disabled House Bound Dusty Rusty Rockhound here: Howdy Matrix... I see you have Bryan and the Solar Wind boys out working in the sunlight for you today! I imagine being their canine foreman is RUFF! 🐾 Those crystal specimens are beautiful! Looks like y'all are having a "howling" good time! Wish I could be there! Bay at the moon for me tonight, Matrix... and I'll bay at the moon and say a prayer that you and Bryan have safe and happy tails... I mean trails! W-H-A-A-T!!!
They Crystal. Vejo todos os seus vídeos.as pedras são lindas. Seu dog e lindo sou apaixonada por seu cachorro. ele e um amor. Sou LUZIA moro no BrASIL.
I just got back to Michigan from Missouri and I went to hawks bluff and it's basically 400+acres of virgin ground with berite crystals drusey and lace agate. They allow pets and camping on site hope to see a video from you soon from hawks bluff.
This looks like so much fun! Question! Would I ever be able to join you on a dig for gems sometime? I'm a gem faceter in America, and I really like cutting rough I find myself. I've already gotten some beautiful clear quartz from Mt. Ida Looking forward to more vids!
Them turning pink is really the sherry color fading away. Like with all Utah Topaz that takes about 2 weeks of infrared from direct sunlight. The pink is the manganese within the Topaz crystal structure. ~Christian from TheGemTours
hi crystal collecter im very good freinds with matt the owner of mulitfacted minerals and im a huge fan of your also whats tips and tricks for finding herkimer diamonds
Hi! I'm Christian, with TheGemTours. The Thomas Range is a type of granite called Rhyolite. It is formed from super heated ashflow. There are many zones of white clay at the Solar Winds too.
I know that most topaz from that area will fade to clear when exposed to the sun. Does this pink topaz just have some extra elements in it that keep some color as the sherry color fades to clear? I'm hoping one of the clubs I'm in near SLC have a field trip down here soon! (R.O.C.K and Wasatch Gem Society)
Hello! Christian here with TheGemTours, the pink is actually entirely separate from the sherry color. The Topaz from Solar Wind Mine has both, so when the sherry fades out with the infrared (typically from the sun) all that remains is the manganese in the Topaz, making it pink. They do range in intensity, sometimes the pink is not discernable until held over white paper. That is not the norm though.
Two different minerals. Bixbyite is the black. Bixbite is actually the red beryl. Most people stopped calling Bixbite because there's so much confusion between the two names.
G’day mate, My name is Sven & I’m from Adelaide in South Australia. I know that this question is totally unrelated to this amazing video, but I’ve been to you ‘Ultra Rocks’ website in search of some nice specimens of Petoskey stones and related material for my marine fossil collection without success. Are you in stock of Great Lakes Marine Fossil material? If not, are you able to point me to a reputable person like yourself who might be able to get me some? Kindest regards, Sven
@Teacherspetspoods Hello, Christian here from TheGemTours. The pink color remains in the Topaz from Solar Wind after the sherry color has faded away, because it has manganese mixed within. The same manganese is what forms the Bixbyite, and it's also a key ingredient in the Red Beryl we dig at our other mines.
Hey Crystal Collector - I think I sent you a message about Whatnot - wasn't sure how best to contact you so dropping by to see if you had the best way to send more info.
Love your videos please come back to Missouri hawks bluff just a few miles away from haunted ridge pets are allowed and you can camp on the farm while rock hounding on over 400 acres please comment back so i know you got this message you will not be disappointed
They are just so tasty! LOL The real reason is, we are like 40 miles from the nearest town so we don't waste water, and it's faster. It's very common practice, and they all get cleaned in vinegar later anyways :)
I'm very interested in what you do. May I follow in your footsteps? I live in Indonesia. I know the location of mineral deposits in several areas in Indonesia. Would you like to invest a small portion of your fortune to give me capital and start hunting for crystal stones and gold. Thank You

The Crystal Collector and Matrix are my favorite guys to watch as crystals are dug up. It looks like fun
I've been saving up since last year to drive across the country and start digging and mining. If only I had the crystal collector on speed dial

Yes usually they will lose color, but these retain a pink hue from this location!
Born and raised in Utah. ❤
I moved from Utah, now I miss it. Sweaty Gulf coast summers now!!

I live in Southern Utah. There are some cool geodes in the southwest desert.
How long does it take for the topaz crystals to turn pink? How long do they need to be exposed to sunlight?

hey Bryan! under what condition do you need to find those bright yellow Topaz Crystals?
These are in the Thomas Range, a specific rhyolite condition that occurred there
I like that topaz it looked amazing
The best
Those are cool! Why are they so expensive and what do they use them for? I want to watch a Topaz turn pink!!
What is the white rock that it is in, looks almost like sand?

Can someone explain to me why this topaz changes color to pink in th sun when other topaz loses its color in the sun?
@Teacherspetspoods Hello, Christian here from TheGemTours.
The pink color remains in the Topaz from Solar Wind after the sherry color has faded away, because it has manganese mixed within.
The same manganese is what forms the Bixbyite, and it's also a key ingredient in the Red Beryl we dig at our other mines.
