At like 8 minutes 38 you said Road Courses would be hard, but for most road courses the pad is actually really nice, I've been playing with pad for a month now because I have experience with Forza. Not terrible, definitely harder than forza, less smooth as you say but if you take like a weekend or two to find your groove on pad it starts feeling really good. Really enjoyable race my guy keep it up.!
I appreciate your kind words! I actually agree with you after having used the controller for a bit. It's just something that you have to practice and get used to. Same thing when I first got my wheel, I was very very awful. It took time to get used to it!
Does anyone know why for me the controller throttle is a straight on/off switch? like it's button 7 and in the calibration it's called axis 3 but in game Its straight 100 or 0 and i can't control it.
I use a Logitech® Cordless RumblePad 2. Gas/Brake with right thumbstick. I can not use both the gas and brake at the same time, which makes maintaining control extremely difficult. I'd say 10/10 difficult. At first I thought it was impossible. I would use the controller as a novelty when I was too lazy to setup the wheel. But I kept at it. High banked ovals like Atlanta were the worst. Having to completely lift off the gas in order to brake would unbalance the car and cause it to spin around. It took me 10+ years but I am now a master. I can race any track with it and race online with it. How do I do it? Well I now have an extremely sensitive feeling for how much the car is sliding and exactly where the point of no return is. I have to constantly counter-steer with millimeter precision. It has made me a better driver, hands down because it forced me to adapt these skills in order to simply stay on the track. I don't have the luxury of saving a spin with gas and brake together. I have to prevent it from happening in the first place. These days I lose control far less often than most people. I continue to use a controller because I don't want to lose the skills that took me years to learn. I may be the only person crazy enough to drive like this. Most people would be sensible enough to at least use the shoulder buttons, enabling gas and brake overlap to keep the car balanced. This game was never designed to work with a controller, yet I've managed to make it work thanks to years of practice. I also don't use any assists.
racing on NR2003 and iracing with a controller is sacrilege, if you do it Ty Majeski and Denny Hamlin themselves are going to break into your home and smash your PC with a wrench
Since I'm trying to get back into NR2003, I do have a question - have you ever considered using Autohotkey to bind the R2 and L2 buttons to F1 though F9 on the T150? I have a script if you're interested
I use L2/R2 to look left and right in NR2003. I've also gotten so used to using the f-keys from NR2003 and iRacing that it is second nature at this point. Although that does sound really useful if somebody is using a keyboard that doesn't have f-keys.
@@simracingmiscellaneous6287 that is a keybind i do miss while using my current setup in case any one in the comments are interested, the script now lives at pastebin.com/fLTh1scW
I do use a ps3 controller, and a few things: - I have to use the right stick for gas and brake because for R2 and L2 it's always all or nothing for me - The 1.5 mile Speedways are actually harder than road courses - How did you not spin in 20 laps at Rockingham
Yes. High banked ovals are the worst. Especially when the AI brakes hard in front of you and you have to lift completely off the gas, unbalancing the car and spinning around. I've managed to make it work, but only after YEARS of practice. The game was never designed to be played with a controller.
I used to play race games with analog r2 L2 buttons.. since now i only have a nintendo pro controller which doesnt have analog triggers it forced me 2 use the right thumbstick for gas n brake..after a while getting used to it i actually like it.
Have you ever had any problems with the controller stick drifting slightly? My controller works normally on other games without stick drifting, but in nr2003 ill always be turning slightly to the left.
The car setup causes that. More specifically, the camber (I think). You would have hold the wheel off center to drive in a straight line. This would happen to a real Nascar. But they can take off the steering wheel and reposition it to compensate for it. The game is technically correct for having that effect, but there developers didn't take into consideration that we can't reposition our wheels or do anything about our controllers. The best thing to do is use setups with less camber. You will also get used to it and not notice it after a while.
Hey can you help me pls? I connect the controller to the computer and the PC recognizes it but when I enter the game it does not work in any game. It is strange because I tried it a few days ago and it worked but today it does not work in any game edit: It's ps4 controller btw
SRM, i played more NR2003 with a PS4 controller than my steering wheel, because when I had my steering wheel, I had stopped playing it. Sorry for my bad english.
I hope you still respond to comments on this video...I got my PS4 controller hooked up but I can’t find a way to use L2 and R2 for control between acceleration and braking. Any tips?
SimRacing Miscellaneous I can assign R2 and L2 but it recognizes it as buttons. I’m asking if it’s possible to have it as a throttle (similar to NH4 or F1 games).
Oh I see what you mean. I think I was slightly mistaken in my first comment. You CAN calibrate the R2 and L2 axis in the calibration screen, it is just on the next page when you click the small arrow at the bottom. And apparently when you are assigning R2 to Throttle and L2 to Brake, if it comes up as a button just keep re-assigning it over and over and it will eventually choose it as an Axis. (I just tried this and it works)
How dare you use a controller! Just kidding. You have better car control with a controller than most people do with wheels. I was once pretty good with a joystick a long time ago.
I'm seeing you a little bit impressed for playing with a controller and you don't know how i'm wishing have a controller because i play this game with keyboard and a controller sounds 100 times better than how i play it :v
I actually use it regularly in this game, it’s not bad once you learn it

Hey man great video! Any tutorials on how to get a PS4 controller to work on NR2003?
Actually I got it. Just need to find a way to be able to map the steering to the left stick.
I want a wheel just haven't yet, but I use up and down on my the right joystick for throttle. Works pretty good

@@simracingmiscellaneous6287 it does.. and you cant make donuts when you win cuz ya cant brake n gas at the same time lol
$100? I spent $30 on my wheel and it came with nr4. Before that I used a 360 controller and I liked being able to look left and right with it

So when I set it up I go to Options > Control Assignments, and then I just assign R2 to Throttle and L2 to Brake. (See my comment below)
