I'm finding, it's not what products are being created to sell, but the ability to rank and get seen...THAT is really what determines a shop's success. I have similar but better products than others, who are making multiple daily.sales, while mine are barely getting traffic to my shop. THAT'S the secret we all need to figure out.
I agree, there is the formula and multiple factors to ranking a listing on Etsy. I think t-shirts are just notoriously harder to rank organically. It can still be done with good marketing such as social media and ads. I think diversifying your products and using good marketing techniques~ SEO, social media and ads can really supercharge a listing on Etsy altogether.
@itsheatherstudio I don't do t-shirts...my products are mostly digital downloads, but may reconsider at so.e point. Maybe you might consider doing an instructional video on how to rank and get seen...doesn't seem like any RUclipsr wants to share that info.
@@lmlowe9100 RUclipsrs want to share and I've shared everything I've know in how to rank on RUclips along with my free trainings. A lot of RUclipsrs talk about this in detail and I think this is a misconception of RUclipsrs. I just think there's information overload or confusion and maybe the titles aren't the exact answer to questions or exactly 'how to rank on Etsy'. I will make a future video for this specific subject but I've made plenty before over this concept and have personally watched fellow RUclipsrs who have provided this knowledge. This is the video I am referencing too which helps a lot on the how to rank and get the first 100 sales: ruclips.net/video/NwzMppDphjE/видео.html
It's no secret. If those shops have 9,000 sales with 1,000 reviews and your shop has 50 sales and 2 reviews you're not going to be on the same page. It's frustrating but it's simple sales strategy put in place by Etsy. Why would Etsy rank a basically non-existent (low view) shop with a proven (high sales) shop? You need to draw organic traffic to your shop thru Facebook, Instagram etc to boost your ranking. The "make $5 trillion dollars overnight selling a POD beach towel" videos are a tad misleading.
Etsy is a Marathon not a Sprint. If you want quick sales boosts jump on a trending idea and ride that wave. It might not help your niche but it will help your ranking due to shop performance.
my big question is, is it better to focus on one type of product or customer? I see videos saying two different things. "Do your market research and create what is trending" but I also see people saying your shop should look coeshive and shouldn't try to target everything and everyone just because it is doing well. That is my main issue with my shop I feel like I look like a walmart or target instead of a Ray Ban store where people know what to expect from the store when they click on it. But what is your opinion on that? How many products should one store focus on and how many target audiences should they try and target ?
I just absolutely love your channel, it's one of my favorites. Not only do you offer realistic and trustworthy information (I've been selling digital and POD products for several years and am aware of the snake oil salesmen on youtube), your presentation is very pleasant, down to earth, and calming. The latter is a big deal because so many channels have overly energetic and phony presentation styles that either give me a headache, or the over the top (crisis) talk style detracts from the information and wears on my nerves. Lol! You also don't speed talk through information with wacky music in the background. Why do channels do that? It's impossible to absorb information when you feel like you're at a loud concert. Absolutely awesome job, Heather! Thanks for everything you do! Even as a well-versed seller, I still learn new things from your videos and e-mail list. Highly recommended --five stars! :)
I love your content. People comment stuff like "gate keeping", "you're just doing that to make views not actually making sales," because they don't have knowledge on this stuff and think you're hiding a secret. They will comment this stuff even if you address their comments and try to prove to them that you aren't doing any of that. Keep on, Chica! You're doing great and you're doing us all a service by sharing these strategies!
Thanks for this kind and thoughtful comment! I try to do everything I do on my Etsy shops without showing my real shop and so I appreciate this because it's true. The only thing I've ever kept secret is the real store so people don't copy it. Thanks for watching and supporting my content here!💕
Thank you for this video. I am just looking to start my business, but your calm manner and taking me through all the steps was very helpful to see the “go about it.” Great job.
Thank you for being so real and honest! This was super helpful I started my shop a month ago so this is all still new to me. You have a new follower!! 😁😁
Big fan of yours. Question, How many Etsy stores do you have? Is each store a separate nich ? I ask because another video (Not Yours) told me not to create a second store...???
Thank you for this! Looks like fun to create mugs. Love that Kittle have a mock gen. After some research, I’m going to add a few mugs to my home decor shop. Will check the Kitty mug vid next. Thanks again.
For design, I'd download the product template (with safe area, design area, bleed area, etc. on), set it as a background in Kittl/Canva, place rulers/guides for the safe area, thirds, and cenre line, and then your elements should just "snap" to those guides 👍
Haha. You made me laugh so many times in this video. I got tickled when you were trying to figure out the 1000 miles distance. In Texas, we have a great concept about that because it's 800 miles from north to south of our state so 1000 miles isn't that much further.
Heather, in your course you choose District Photo as your print provider. Is this still accurate? They do have the best prices, but their quality score seems to be kinda low compared to SPOKE.
Hi, If we have a design that we've done for a t-shirt at 5000 by 5000...do we nerd to change dimensions to shrink it down? Or just do over at those dimensions they need?

I have played with the mock up generator and sadly have found it likes to give just wood ones now matter what I put in. I am hoping they fix that. Soon.
