I really like how you're open and honest about not talking smoothly on camera. I am socially awkward, so it's really nice seeing someone who is where I want to be who struggles with their words too
Congratulations on your marriage! Chloe melted my heart! I had a cavalier before. He was the sweetest dog ever. I'm hoping to get a cavapoo some day. You made me think I should look into my pricing to have 3 layers of pricing with discounts. My current pricing doesn't have much room to offer discounts.
THanks so much for the heads up! I am 5 weeks in and still no sale yet, just scammers. It's not easy to get through that first fase I must admit, but also thanks to people like you I will just keep going, grinding and listing!
Thank you for saying to be patient. My new shop (Faith Hope Apparel) now is about two months old and I’m slowly learning a lot from you and implementing everything you teach. Thank you for your support and time. And your home is a beautiful background. It don’t matter if you’re on the floor. 🥰🙏🏼
Chloe is adorable! Congratulations on the new pup and your wedding!! I really like this style of filming, it's like chatting with a friend. And I have to say that I love how you talk in your videos, it's very natural and like I said before, it's like chatting with a friend. Thank you for all your hard work, it's such valuable information!
Thank you so much for the kind words here, it made me smile reading today! :) Thank you for supporting my content here and the kind comment, it really means so much❤
I love the living room view better than the office. Congratulations on your puppy and marriage. I love Cavalier dogs. I saved two Cavaliers in San Francisco once, when they got loose from their owners. They were so sweet, ran straight up to me, so happy to see me. Their owners showed up in five minutes, so happy ending. 💕
Hi Heather. thanks for being so generous with all of your content. I watched you today on the printify live, and you mentioned how you plan and strategize for each quarter and how you create templates for those quarters. I wondered if at some time you could talk about that. I did see your video on managing time, and for me, this topic would help me to figure out a way to organize my days instead of being all over the place like I am now. I have shiny object syndrome and it is making me unproductive. I listen to everyone, each with a different way of doing things. One minute I'm following one person's advice, and the next someone else who is doing the polar opposite. I am probably not alone in needing some kind of strategy.
I have a video coming out in the next few weeks about this, I will definitely be going over my strategies for 2024. Thanks for joining the Printify webinar and coming over to the channel!❤️
Thank you so much for sharing your tips to RUclips world, Heather! Your insights have been so valuable to me. I am a new Etsy store owner (Whimsy and Woof 🐾), doing everything on my own, and it has been a roller coaster ride. Finding positive, insightful and successful mentors like you gives me the push to keep going! Congrats to getting married and your new fur baby, Chloe💕🐾. She is cuteness overload! I loved seeing her sweet little face in your video. Best of luck to you and thank you again for all that you do!
Hey Heather! I'm experiencing my first proper Christmas season with regular sales between 7-20 per day and OMG the customer service aspect is intense: out-of-stock items, missing tracking numbers, late items, lost items, orders by mistake, Printify Live Chat marathons (+ a few personalized orders)🤯I spend all day reacting and talking to customers or Printify Live Agents and trouble-shooting. How do high-volume sellers even handle 40-100 daily sales without burnout? How do you take a day/weekend off or manage your shop when you get sick. Is it possible to make this sustainable and scale-able without becoming exhausting? Grateful for any advice❤
Heather, I just want to say "Thank You" for all your dedication and hard work sharing your techniques and strategies. You've helped me tremendously. My shop is only 3 months old, but my sales are trickling in since implementing what I've learned from you. Keep up the great work!!
Thank you for all your wisdom and tips on how to run an Etsy shop. Congratulations on your marriage. Your puppy is darling, I had a tri-color cavalier for ten years and he was so easy going and loved my Ragdoll cats.
Congratulations on your wedding and your new fur-baby!!! I have no experience with Cavaliers, but from year 0 to 3 years, all dogs have maximum energy. I can give you a couple tips. Your new baby will eventually hit the chewy teething season. Get Kong! Small or medium size, get the spray can to fill it. It will keep her busy! If you do rawhide, please keep eyes on her. When she chews it where it's getting to a nub make sure she isn't trying to just swallow it to finish. I'd take it away. It can be a hazard at that point. Play time is going to be all the time. It's great bonding time. If she's energetic, take her for a nice walk.15 to 30 min at least 3x a day or more (it helps knock that energy down and you'll see she will settle down so mom can get some work done.) sorry, I have no idea if you have had pups in the past, I know these things have helped me be able to work at home. She's so adorable Heather, congratulations again! Oh,make sure Steve isn't in accessible to her little chewy teeth. Lol. Save Steve! She's too young at the moment, but within a couple months she might be trying to get into everything. That's when you time out and play our walk her. Get that energy out. Please forgiveme for offering this advice that wasn't asked for. I've learned so much from you,I feel like this is some way to repay you. Again, don't know if you were ever a pup parent before. Ignore me if you know all this. God Bless you all!
Hi Heather. I’m back with a couple questions about how to activate the count down timer, turn on coupons, SDR’s, Flash sale. Etc. I also would like to add how to send thank you messages with a thank you discount offer on next purchase. Just started getting sales and am constantly watching your advice with all notifications on. Thank you for your time, attention to detail and the perfect pace you speak with. 🙏🏼👍🏼
Congrats on your marriage and thanks for the info! I wanted to reinforce what others have said, your video has some stereo audio issues. Wearing headphones, your sound effects seem to be in stereo, but your voice is pushed completely to one side. Some of your other recent videos have had this issue. May not be a huge deal for most, but it is strange wearing earbuds or other headphones. Just thought you might want to know. Thanks for all you do! Have
Thanks, Heather always great advice. I'm doing my Deep Dive with Etsy this year!! You are my go-to for tutorials and your Printify BootCamp was terrific! YAY Chloe. And Congrats on the marriage! Feel free to delete this post once you've read it... But in the spirit of wanting you to put your best foot forward, I'd be remiss if I didn't let you know that there are a lot of misspelled words and incorrect verb tenses in the dynamic pop-up subtitles ('earned' not 'earn' 'utilizes' not 'utilize'). Spelling: ('conversion rate' not 'convertion rate' or 'percentage' not 'porcentage', 'losing money' not 'lossing' money, 'your standard flash sale rate' (missing the 'd' in standard). Appreciate the tutorials, always!
Congratulations on your wedding and your new fur-baby. She's adorable. So, do you offer free shipping? I have added that for all my products and that knocked my profits down to around 15-20%. Offering coupons for as much as you suggested would cost me money. Is it okay to still offer discounts in the 5-10% range? That seems cheap, but I really don't have much profit built into my pricing.
Thank you so much for your positive advice. Congratulations to you and your hubby!! And congratulations with your new little member of the family, Chloe (so cute the way she was looking at the camera, lol). Question... how much patience do we need to have? I have a brand new shop, opened mid-September and I have only had 7 sales. Should I still be patient. I have 77 listings. Thanks for your feedback.
Thanks for the congrats and kind words! ❤ 7 sales is an incredible amount at 77 listings and a few months so cheers to that 🎉 As far as patience, I'd say 6 months to a year it can take if you aren't using ads or social media and utilizing instead targeting high demand niches and uploading listings consistently/improving at your listing creation and designing. It takes time and many quit when they are close to that scaling point so kep your head up and please know you are doing incredible at you amount of moonths in and listing volume! Some people it takes hundreds of listings and 6+ months until they see sales, others it's a few months. It's just a game of tenacity, endurance and patience but it sounds like you're close to breaking through in scaling farther here! 💕
Hi! Great video and very informative! Wondering how do I get email marketing set up? Do you have a video on that by chance? Or recommend a particular email marketing platform that is (preferably) free? ;)
Hi Heather! Always appreciate your helpful informational videos. The puppy is adorable. My concern is that I am barely making money by giving 15% as a discount. How is it possible to make money by giving all of these discounts? Any advice would be great. Thank you!
I have a new digital shop on Etsy and have a few sales. I am getting a ton of favorites all over my shop but no sales. My price point is already low so I am wondering is it okay to raise my prices and then put a sale on them? I started a Facebook group and have 5 people but there is no participation. I don't know where to go with this as I post in the group and see some looks but no comments. When I opened my shop I got 5 sales within less than a week after opening from I guess organic traffic from Etsy.
Thanks Heather! I set mine up while watching, but when I tried a 15% coupon Etsy gave a small warning to "set a discount of at least 20% to give your orders a boost." What's your take on this? :)
Hey girl, can you tell us how to protect our designs from being copied/ stolen or is that even possible? That's one big thing I've been worried about starting... I know you've had experience cuz you mentioned before that's why you had to stop sharing your shop in your description..how did you get them reported and how do you prevent it from happening in the first place? If it's possible...all across the internet, not just Etsy? 🤔🙏
Hey there! You usually have to file DMCA claims on whatever platform someone has stolen your IP. If a platform is reselling your designs, you may have to get a lawyer to draft a 'Cease & desist' letter and/or file for a trademark. From my experience, I've only done DMCA claims and have reached out to the sellers to ask them to take it down. I've had over 50 shops steal my IP and there is no way to 100% prevent bbut you can protect through those routes. By no means am I a legal expert though and this is based on my prior experiences but hopefully this helps! DISCLAIMER: I am not a legal professional and suggest seeking legal help on this topic.
@@itsheatherstudio thanks! So there's no way to protect it beforehand? You just have to wait until someone steals it? ☹️ You can't really trademark every design first right? Each one would be hundreds of dollars...right? 😩 I thought copyright was automatic.. I guess there's a more professional way to copyright something also, by sending it somewhere, but that sounds like a hassle too. Do you just not care if that will happen? 👀
@@DsDoodlesTrademarks and Copyright registration are 2 different things. You could Trademark your company logo or catchphrase. Your designs, illustrations or other artwork is automatically copyrighted to some extent, but from what I've learned about it, you cannot go after monetary compensation (from the person/company that stole your work and used it on products, etc.), unless you officially register your work with the US Copyright Office.
I’m trying to set up the daily sale but it wants a different promo code every time. 😩How do you manage this? I’m assuming these have to be set up one at a time for each 24-48 HR period. (If there’s a way to automate it please let us know) thanks!
Only if you use a POD site. Handmade items should never be discounted unless you want to get rid of some things that aren’t selling. That’s like discounting your hourly salary. I don’t work at a discount. Would you tell your boss you’re willing to work for a discounted hourly rate?
I would disagree. Discounts and coupons are marketing used in most businesses handmade, digital and POD alike. You should always factor your retail value and any future discounts into the pricing. This is why there is retail versus sale pricing and that’s where marketing comes into play with your coupons and sales you run.
Turning on the cart abandonment feature prompts anyone who has an item in their cart to get the coupon immediately, even if they havent "abandoned" their cart. So once anyone puts something in their cart, they immediately get the notification for the coupon. Have they fixed this? otherwise all sales coming in will always be at a discount
For offsite ads I would recommend keeping them on(at least you pricing your products to see profit or break even at a sale with those). I’ve personally seen a net positive profit on offsite ads off so it has helped my shop significantly! I have a prior video on my 400K offsite ads case study I will link in another comment here.
This is the video going over my results with offsite ads: The Impact of Etsy Offsite Ads: Unveiling My $400K Case Study & Personal Insights ruclips.net/video/MZmdY9WGtmA/видео.html
Heather - I had sale discount prices but when I looked at my shop on my phone they were not visible until you clicked on the listing - so anyone scrolling by would go thats too much and keep scrolling. I’ve looked at numerous thread forums and people say its happened to them too but my question is - is it better to just do a lower base price if this issue is happening with some phone users OR should i run sales knowing that some users may not be able to see the sale prices unless they click on the listing….? Help!!! Thanks!!!
Hey there! When I use the Etsy Seller app it will not show anything on sale but if I click into the Etsy app for customers it shows a sale- this could be the similar issue you have but on the Etsy Seller app it tends to not show any discounts from my experience. If you go on a computer and the sale isn't running, that's when I would suggest contacting Etsy to get this issue fixed. Hopefully this helps and thanks for watching! ❤
Hey Heather! Can you tell us why most of these POD or online businesses never take into account the cost of labor? It has a huge impact on the real net profit an online store is making! It doesn’t matter how much a store is making if they’re doing all the hard work for nothing. Former global turnaround consultant.

How hard or easy is it to start an etsy shop?
Turning on the cart abandonment feature prompts anyone who has an item in their cart to get the coupon immediately, even if they havent "abandoned" their cart. So once anyone puts something in their cart, they immediately get the notification for the coupon. Have they fixed this? otherwise all sales coming in will always be at a discount
What about the ads on Google? Do you think we should turn it off ( mine is turned off) or leave it in default so it stays on?
For offsite ads I would recommend keeping them on(at least you pricing your products to see profit or break even at a sale with those). I’ve personally seen a net positive profit on offsite ads off so it has helped my shop significantly! I have a prior video on my 400K offsite ads case study I will link in another comment here.
This is the video going over my results with offsite ads:

It’s hard to get a hold of anyone in Etsy. I am still posting some items but am not sure what else to do.
How come there is no update on your new etsy store? Are uou not doing good as the top 1%store u have ????
I had that issue with two listings but it resolved itself after two days
For some reason the audio only plays in my right earbud only for this entire video.???

That $14 896 you earned in 2021 year. I see it on your screen. What about now?
Hi Cloe , your super cute
Didn’t mind the living room, no.
Hey Heather! Can you tell us why most of these POD or online businesses never take into account the cost of labor? It has a huge impact on the real net profit an online store is making! It doesn’t matter how much a store is making if they’re doing all the hard work for nothing. Former global turnaround consultant.
I've tried all the coupons...hasn't done a thing. As soon as the coupon stops...people buy at full price. So I'm not doing them anymore.
Congratulations on your marriage!!
