Ian really strikes me as more of a jazz drummer than a rock drummer. Incredible speed on the drums, large use of the cymbals, complex rhythms. Clearly one of the greats...the greatest rock drummers list puts him at number 14...that to me is a great injustice. He deserves the top 5 in my opinion.
