Ok ,so I wore a cream colored dress to my daughter's wedding for two reasons. 1. She picked out the dress for me.❤ 2. When she picked the date for her wedding. I celebrated and didn't tell her ,but that date was actually our ( her parents) 30th wedding anniversary. She secretly set up a cake for us including our champagne glasses from our wedding. She surprised us after their wedding was wrapping up. ❤ She's so sweet.
We got married on my parents' 23rd anniversary. They were thrilled when we asked. My sisters both got married within a couple days (different years) of that same date. It feels like a fun club. I'm hoping my kids (if they get married) do the same.

Ok I gotta comment just a little: my beautiful niece just got married. She thrifted her dress. She gave her parents lovely sentimental gifts. It wasn't a huge huge event (80+) people but she had at every place setting a lovely note handwritten to each guest thanking them for coming. It was the most beautiful, fun, happy wedding, it was true love, and she looked stunning in a $40 dress. So take that, mean brides 🥰
Love this. THAT is what a wedding should be, joyful and happy. It’s not about having a huge, expensive wedding, it’s about marrying your best friend. My entire wedding including my gorgeous A-line gown was about $1000. (My gown was $106 and STUNNING.) There was such love from our vows that people were crying with joy. Even the pastor teared up and it was the best day of our lives. We have been married 6 years come December and I am more in love than ever. We have God in the middle of our marriage and I would marry my husband a 1000 times over.❤😇🙏❤️
I bought my wedding dress secondhand as well. Paid like $80 for it I think. It had never been worn and was in pristine condition so I really got a bargain! Gave us more money for other things, like the honeymoon!
At my wedding, we had a hired photographer. Had an uncle on my husband's side show up with a "professional" camera, and get snippy with our HIRED professional. Apparently, MIL asked him to take pictures, because she assumed we wouldn't have hired one. He proceeded to get in the way constantly, and had to be asked several times to move aside for our photographer. We never saw any of the pictures he took. Also, his wedding gift was a picture of one of our professionally done engagement photos, which he printed out onto a piece of slate. It stretched sideways and made us look 4x bigger than we already were. He still gifted it.
Speaking from a different point of view ... I went to a friend's wedding and took my Nikon camera. They did have a professional photographer, who announced that he and his partner were paid to take photos anyone else wishing to take photos please do not block their shots and do not use flash cameras while they are filming. Totally understandable. I stood off to the side which provided a different angle. Afterwards I printed my photos, created a memory card of all the photos I took (Even the blurry ones.. never know who is in the photos) made a photo album of the ones I thought were best and gifted my friend (groom). He thanked me as these were the first photos they've seen so far of their wedding except ones on people's Facebook pages. Months later he told me they still hadn't gotten their professional photos yet. That when people ask to see the wedding photos they pull out the album I gifted them.
As for the Wedding photographer… I had the opposite thing happen. We went to my nieces destination wedding. I tried to get as many photos as I could. My daughters threw a fit, so I cut back. The next day I sent all the photos to the bride. She called me up and said thank you and she wished I would have taken more, because they couldn’t afford the photographer that was part the resort package… learned my lesson…. Always ask if they need more photos taken
There was a dinner theater company that was doing fake wedding receptions. You could dine, dress up, and over hear all the hot messy wedding gossip as a guest at this fake wedding. I'm sort of sorry I never went.

Like if animals are a big part of your lives, ask a local shelter or rescue if they would be able to come out with some of their adoptable animals for your reception, so people can potentially adopt them, or even better have the shelter/rescue just supply photos of the adoptable animals, print them and frame them on various tables and use that as decor, along with info on the shelter to adopt them if desired.

When my parents were married the men decided the night before they wanted holsters and hand guns (from a very rural redneck town.) it surprisingly turned out really good!! At least better then the shoulder pad dress of the 90’s my mom was wearing 😂🤣😅

On the betting pool during the reception story: that happened at my wedding. I found out a couple of months after the fact and half-jokingly told hubby I wished I had known because I would have bet less than a year. We got married in 1987, and we will celebrate 37 years of marriage next month. Sometimes, people's offensive jokes turn out well. By the way, hubby would have won because he said this was a lifetime commitment.

Yeah, not to mention how easily false readings can happen (a low-emotion person can easily fake a false negative, and a very anxious person can get a false positive). The first one reminded me of when I went to one of my best friend's wedding, and despite them making it SUPER CLEAR that phones weren't allowed during the ceremony, the older people ALL HAD THEIR PHONES OUT TAKING PHOTOS. It made me so pissed.
Yup, all of the younger people had turned their phones completely off, it was only like the grandparents and great aunts/uncles with their phones out taking photos. It was super frustrating, especially because my baby sister has constantly been told that she is on her phone too much, but was one of the few people who turned of their phone 🤦♀️

In the dark ages when I got married (1974) the photographer required no other cameras. Although most people didn’t carry cameras and certainly no cellphones. My in-laws had a friend who was a very talented amateur photographer. They refused to ask him to leave cameras at home 😢 Turned out he was a classy guy and knew better.
I would have rioted if a bride told me to do a pic like that. I didn’t know the groomsmen I was paired up with at all of the weddings I was in except one, and the one groomsman I knew was my best friend, and like a brother to me. Awkward city. I have a good sense of humour but, just, no.
I breed golden retrievers and had a lady (that I know) ask me to bring my litter of 7 week old puppies to keep the kids busy. It was a huge hit and I sold all 13 puppies at the wedding, minus the puppy I kept. Not one kid acted up, they all stayed in the puppy pin. We had my oldest looking over the kids to make sure they had “gentle hands” but we didn’t have an issue, definitely recommend
That is cute but also slightly horrifying. Imagine bringing your kids to a wedding and them falling in love with the cute puppies. Then you either have major family drama for a while or you end up with a puppy you never planned on getting before. Dunno if I think that that is a good idea. You don't want to encourage people to get a dog without a lot of thought and planning. 'My kids fell in love with the cute puppy and I couldn't say no' is exactly how shelter dogs are created.
If I were the bride whose photo of walking down the aisle with her father was ruined by the cellphone photo-taker I would be so angry/disappointed. Lots of other wedding photos wouldn’t matter so much but walking down the aisle with your father seems like an extra-important one.

A lot of wedding photographers outsource their editing. I'm a wedding photographer, and during busy season, I outsource some of my editing. I'm in several photographers groups on Facebook, and lots of them outsource, and there's also lots of editors in the groups.
I outsourced that kind of editing. I'm a photographer, not a graphic artist. I'm not skilled at extensive editing. Just because we outsource doesn't make us stupid, lazy, or unskilled. It's a different skill set all together.
I don’t think the outsourcing is an issue, I think not doing your research and finding a company with a respectable portfolio is. And not looking over the pictures before sending to the couple. Those should not have made it past his final inspection.

Showed up anyways and we're mad they didn't have seats at the reception lol bruh Edit: seeing the groom send his buddy the picks! 💀 that was also my look and same complaints but in forest green 😅
The groomsmen zilla could have put things a different way but I absolutely agree with him. Especially with the color choice. Without a jacket the look gives country or slave. Like the only people who can pull that look off are toddlers and old men really if you're not keeping it just black and white.
Oh I’m sorry you had that happen! My husband had THE BEST groomsmen at ours. They came to the bridal suite with shots for me and my bridesmaids before the ceremony in case I was nervous about everything being perfect. I’m not a huge drinker but it was sweet of them to think of how I might be feeling, and we all had a shot for fun.
These are the kinds of little things that only add to the memories. On my wedding when everyone was hoping for nothing to go wrong I said I kind of wanted some little things to go wrong so we’d have some good stories, just not at anyone’s expense. And it was the unplanned things that we tell stories about today! We had another bride crash our wedding (no one knew her, she was from the other side of the venue and we had an open bar she wanted to take advantage of), we found out the night before the wedding was at 3 and not 2 like we put on the invites and it stormed all day (but I love storms). But it was a perfect day. Wouldn’t change anything.

It could work if you had PICTURES of puppies that are available for adoption as part of a table centrepiece or alternative to table numbers. Depending on the size of the reception you could invite an animal charity to bring their ambassador animals (for example, in a side area for kids where it’s quieter.)
Its my understanding that if you're so drunk at your wedding you can't even stand by yourself, then the wedding isn't legal so the poor bride has an instant out of the fiasco. I'm not sure if thats valid in Russia however lol 😅😅😅
The fact that if I ever get married, me and the groom are going to be wearing Renaissance faire costumes, my family is gonna be encouraged to wear costumes, we’re doing a pig roast and having my family bring sides instead of gifts, and that’s still infinitely less tacky than all of these. My older cousins have told me they’re mad they didn’t come up with this for their weddings.

He thought weddings were always these crazy money pits and he’s very much an introvert so when I told him we’re going to do it in a way we don’t take all the attention and have a fun party, he’s for it. I’ll never understand sisters being weird with each other. I have to think how they are raised and treated by the parents plays a big role a lot of the time. I was 12 and my sister was 18 when she passed and I would give anything to have had her through my whole life and now! We did have an age gap but had fun together! She used to surprise me and pick me up from school early sometimes and we would go eat and go do whatever! It would have been amazing to have her there for my teenage years and becoming an adult. Forever really but those times stand out a lot when I missed her more than ever. I have 4 brothers and I love them so much but it’s definitely not the same as a sister. ❤

When I had my kids they’ve mostly been so good with each other. I assumed they were just the exception. But lately I’ve realized how much my parents didn’t try to make us get along/didn’t care. And how I have tried to make mine get along. I think you’re right. Parenting is a big part of it. I was jealous of one of my sisters. And was berated for it. But she got more attention than I did. She got taken more fun places. How would any kid NOT feel jealous? I was gaslit big time. You’re never going to be perfectly fair. It’s impossible. But kids know when parents try. And when I haven’t been I apologize. Kids know. I’m glad you were close to her. But I’m so sorry she’s no longer here physically.

We picked on each other and stuff but that’s just how we are lol it’s all in love. We know when to stop and not cross lines. And yes I agree kids can definitely see when parents are trying. Even if not in the moment we see it later. That’s why I have always respected my parents and love them because I knew they were always trying their best.

At the reception i highly recommend getting disposable cameras and seeing all the nonsense you get. Ok I gotta comment just a little: my beautiful niece just got married. She thrifted her dress. She gave her parents lovely sentimental gifts. It wasn't a huge huge event (80+) people but she had at every place setting a lovely note handwritten to each guest thanking them for coming. It was the most beautiful, fun, happy wedding, it was true love, and she looked stunning in a $40 dress. So take that, mean brides 🥰

My entire wedding including my gorgeous A-line gown was about $1000. (My gown was $106 and STUNNING.) There was such love from our vows that people were crying with joy. Even the pastor teared up and it was the best day of our lives. We have been married 6 years come December and I am more in love than ever. We have God in the middle of our marriage and I would marry my husband a 1000 times over.❤😇🙏❤️

At my wedding, we had a hired photographer. Had an uncle on my husband's side show up with a "professional" camera, and get snippy with our HIRED professional. Apparently, MIL asked him to take pictures, because she assumed we wouldn't have hired one. He proceeded to get in the way constantly, and had to be asked several times to move aside for our photographer. We never saw any of the pictures he took.
Also, his wedding gift was a picture of one of our professionally done engagement photos, which he printed out onto a piece of slate. It stretched sideways and made us look 4x bigger than we already were. He still gifted it.
Speaking from a different point of view ... I went to a friend's wedding and took my Nikon camera. They did have a professional photographer, who announced that he and his partner were paid to take photos anyone else wishing to take photos please do not block their shots and do not use flash cameras while they are filming. Totally understandable. I stood off to the side which provided a different angle. Afterwards I printed my photos, created a memory card of all the photos I took (Even the blurry ones.. never know who is in the photos) made a photo album of the ones I thought were best and gifted my friend (groom). He thanked me as these were the first photos they've seen so far of their wedding except ones on people's Facebook pages. Months later he told me they still hadn't gotten their professional photos yet. That when people ask to see the wedding photos they pull out the album I gifted them.

As for the Wedding photographer… I had the opposite thing happen. We went to my nieces destination wedding. I tried to get as many photos as I could. My daughters threw a fit, so I cut back. The next day I sent all the photos to the bride. She called me up and said thank you and she wished I would have taken more, because they couldn’t afford the photographer that was part the resort package… learned my lesson…. Always ask if they need more photos taken

Like if animals are a big part of your lives, ask a local shelter or rescue if they would be able to come out with some of their adoptable animals for your reception, so people can potentially adopt them, or even better have the shelter/rescue just supply photos of the adoptable animals, print them and frame them on various tables and use that as decor, along with info on the shelter to adopt them if desired.
If they did this it would be their own punishment! Might go okay for about 30 seconds, then the puppies would start whining, barking, fighting the tethers and peeing/pooping everywhere. It would be bedlam and smell awful. That chick obviously doesn't know anything about dogs.

On the betting pool during the reception story: that happened at my wedding. I found out a couple of months after the fact and half-jokingly told hubby I wished I had known because I would have bet less than a year. We got married in 1987, and we will celebrate 37 years of marriage next month. Sometimes, people's offensive jokes turn out well. By the way, hubby would have won because he said this was a lifetime commitment.

yeah, i think i remember hearing to an update (can't remember where though, might've been a different video here), and how "the rat" got found bc they came forward (which, y'know, perfectly fine) and that *everyone else* attended the polygraph party, and i just have to call *BS*. for sure plenty of people told them off (esp the bridezilla) for how ridiculous the whole thing was from the bottom up and the polygraph being the cherry on top and they just claimed everyone except for the snitch went to the thing just bc they're now coping
Yeah, not to mention how easily false readings can happen (a low-emotion person can easily fake a false negative, and a very anxious person can get a false positive). There's a reason polygraph results aren't admissible in court. But from the rest of the post, we can tell the bride isn't really into logic, understanding human emotions, or even basic reality.

Yup, all of the younger people had turned their phones completely off, it was only like the grandparents and great aunts/uncles with their phones out taking photos. It was super frustrating, especially because my baby sister has constantly been told that she is on her phone too much, but was one of the few people who turned of their phone 🤦♀️

In the dark ages when I got married (1974) the photographer required no other cameras. Although most people didn’t carry cameras and certainly no cellphones. My in-laws had a friend who was a very talented amateur photographer. They refused to ask him to leave cameras at home 😢 Turned out he was a classy guy and knew better.

I breed golden retrievers and had a lady (that I know) ask me to bring my litter of 7 week old puppies to keep the kids busy. It was a huge hit and I sold all 13 puppies at the wedding, minus the puppy I kept. Not one kid acted up, they all stayed in the puppy pin. We had my oldest looking over the kids to make sure they had “gentle hands” but we didn’t have an issue, definitely recommend

That is cute but also slightly horrifying. Imagine bringing your kids to a wedding and them falling in love with the cute puppies. Then you either have major family drama for a while or you end up with a puppy you never planned on getting before.
Dunno if I think that that is a good idea. You don't want to encourage people to get a dog without a lot of thought and planning. 'My kids fell in love with the cute puppy and I couldn't say no' is exactly how shelter dogs are created.
If I were the bride whose photo of walking down the aisle with her father was ruined by the cellphone photo-taker I would be so angry/disappointed. Lots of other wedding photos wouldn’t matter so much but walking down the aisle with your father seems like an extra-important one.

A lot of wedding photographers outsource their editing. I'm a wedding photographer, and during busy season, I outsource some of my editing. I'm in several photographers groups on Facebook, and lots of them outsource, and there's also lots of editors in the groups.
I outsourced that kind of editing. I'm a photographer, not a graphic artist. I'm not skilled at extensive editing. Just because we outsource doesn't make us stupid, lazy, or unskilled. It's a different skill set all together.
I don’t think the outsourcing is an issue, I think not doing your research and finding a company with a respectable portfolio is. And not looking over the pictures before sending to the couple. Those should not have made it past his final inspection.

Oh I’m sorry you had that happen! My husband had THE BEST groomsmen at ours. They came to the bridal suite with shots for me and my bridesmaids before the ceremony in case I was nervous about everything being perfect. I’m not a huge drinker but it was sweet of them to think of how I might be feeling, and we all had a shot for fun.

These are the kinds of little things that only add to the memories. On my wedding when everyone was hoping for nothing to go wrong I said I kind of wanted some little things to go wrong so we’d have some good stories, just not at anyone’s expense. And it was the unplanned things that we tell stories about today! We had another bride crash our wedding (no one knew her, she was from the other side of the venue and we had an open bar she wanted to take advantage of), we found out the night before the wedding was at 3 and not 2 like we put on the invites and it stormed all day (but I love storms). But it was a perfect day. Wouldn’t change anything.

It could work if you had PICTURES of puppies that are available for adoption as part of a table centrepiece or alternative to table numbers. Depending on the size of the reception you could invite an animal charity to bring their ambassador animals (for example, in a side area for kids where it’s quieter.)
Its my understanding that if you're so drunk at your wedding you can't even stand by yourself, then the wedding isn't legal so the poor bride has an instant out of the fiasco. I'm not sure if thats valid in Russia however lol 😅😅😅

Receiving a list of instructions that include mandatory toasting with alcohol ( which I no longer drink) or tells me not to wear makeup or how to do my hair ( what do women with hair shorter than a bob do?) would ensure that would not be attending the wedding. Not spending more than $25.00 on a gift, either.
It's a great week over here. Nothing has changed, I'll still go to work on Monday and pay my bills, only my bills will not be as bad next year, I'm sure of it

Re the last story with the bride forgetting her dress: I forgot to take off my veil covering my eyes (fifties style) for all pictures. Nobody reminded me including the photographer. I have no pictures of our wedding and after where you can see my eyes …..

I’ll never understand sisters being weird with each other. I have to think how they are raised and treated by the parents plays a big role a lot of the time. I was 12 and my sister was 18 when she passed and I would give anything to have had her through my whole life and now! We did have an age gap but had fun together! She used to surprise me and pick me up from school early sometimes and we would go eat and go do whatever! It would have been amazing to have her there for my teenage years and becoming an adult. Forever really but those times stand out a lot when I missed her more than ever. I have 4 brothers and I love them so much but it’s definitely not the same as a sister. ❤

Growing up I just assumed it was the norm for siblings to be mean and when they were nice I thought I was so lucky. When I had my kids they’ve mostly been so good with each other. I assumed they were just the exception. But lately I’ve realized how much my parents didn’t try to make us get along/didn’t care. And how I have tried to make mine get along. I think you’re right. Parenting is a big part of it.
I was jealous of one of my sisters. And was berated for it. But she got more attention than I did. She got taken more fun places. How would any kid NOT feel jealous? I was gaslit big time.
You’re never going to be perfectly fair. It’s impossible. But kids know when parents try. And when I haven’t been I apologize. Kids know.

Agreed. I was 1 of 5 girls, and none of us really ever fought beyond basic "i want that toy" stuff. We've all always rooted for and helped each other. Built in best friends
@@Mama_Bear524 thank you ❤️ me and my siblings definitely had our moments but we were taught to love each other and have each others back and always got along for the most part. We picked on each other and stuff but that’s just how we are lol it’s all in love. We know when to stop and not cross lines. And yes I agree kids can definitely see when parents are trying. Even if not in the moment we see it later. That’s why I have always respected my parents and love them because I knew they were always trying their best.

My first time ever using Uber was a trip to the airport at 4:00 a.m. after repeated attempts no driver was available, so I tried selecting Uber Pool. Oh myyyy…. Everyone was completely drunk partiers. I finally made the airport but will never take Uber again.

If anyone is getting married make the ceremony phone free. Ask all phones be turned off or at least silenced. Anyone seen using a cellphone will be asked to leave! At the reception i highly recommend getting disposable cameras and seeing all the nonsense you get. There is still something fun about having to wait to get the developed pictures and then going thru them

@@teridoster5840 I've had that happen too! I think some people have it set so you can't tag them (maybe?) But you should definitely be able to respond/tag to me so I have no idea. It's super frustrating. Especially in really long threads with a bunch of people.
