You can't go wrong hearing Elvis sing the gospel songs, "You'll Never Walk Alone" and "Amazing Grace". This performance of him singing How Great Thou Art, is both the most uplifting, and saddest thing to watch. Elvis was Amazing!!
By far THE BEST performance of this song. Elvis was in pain most of time by now. Our Great Almighty gifted Elvis with such talent. Elvis had his voice until the very end. He also performed Unchained Melody during this show. Once again the best performance ever. Elvis passed just weeks later.
This is for me very difficult to watch. This is June 26 1977 in Indianapolis, his last concert, 6 weeks later he died. I was 12 years old then, and I wanted to go to this concert but my mom did not let me go because of a schoolexam. And then August 16 1977 he died and I was completely in shock and devastated and furious on my mom because it felt that I lost my best friend and I didn't get the chance to say goodbye to him. I didn't speak to my mom for weeks. I went to his funeral on August 18 1977 and also then I was devastated. I saw then James Brown for ex and he was also devastated and crying like a baby and said "I lost my best friend and brother in music, thanks to Elvis I also came in the music business". Elvis was, is and will always be my fascination and inspiration! ELVIS = THE GOAT!!!
A lot of fans (myself included) find it hard to watch the concert from which this performance is taken. The beauty and majesty of Elvis's voice with what was obviously a man in pain and not feeling at all well only to die just 8 weeks later is a sad reminder of his loss. That said, the man, the music and the heart draws many of us back to this his last taped concert. Thanks for the reaction.
This is so hard to watch because he was so sick and in pain. We know the outcome..😢 However, he NEVER lost his sense of humor and his voice got even more powerful!! Love snd miss you EP. 👑😇😭💔❣️
I find it hard to watch these '77 performances but regarding his sense of humor: it's interesting how everyone says that he never lost it, & yes on the outside he displayed smiles & jokes & a good sense of humor but the man was hurting terribly inside, & I'm not referring to the physical; he was very despondent & unhappy, only difference is he hid his hurt very well when in public; I wonder if some of today's singers/actors alike could do that as well as he did.
This moved me so much. I was born in Clarksville MS, but moved many places by my parents and now live in the Northeast. And even though I've been to church up here, there is NOTHING like this kind of gospel to move my soul up here. Thank you for sharing this. I was on the edge of my seat listening. It reminded me of my great-grandmother. And the gospel as told like this is what she wanted me to hear. I feel it
Not for this version. It was his 1966 version which was much more beautiful and reverent. When Elvis did this many times in the 1970s I asked a Jewish friend what he thought of it. He said "Oh, it's a great rock song." You see, the reverence isn't there. The simplicity of the 1966 version is absent, and it just becomes a theatrical production. The sound trumps the meaning.
@@timcarr6401 Actually the Grammy was for the March 20th 1974 'Live' version from the album 'Live On Stage In Memphis', but he ALSO won a grammy for the 'How Great Thou Art' 1966 album. That may be what you meant Tim! (p.s: Tim's my middle name)
This was shortly before his death!! As tired and sick as he was, his voice never failed him!! He did great on all he sang that night! We all wondered if he knew what was coming!! 😢❤🎉
I cannot tell you how thrilled I am that you watched this version that I requested from you a while back. How I feel watching this it was if Elvis is so catapulted through mine, and I felt the hand of God. Oh fun, gospel reaction would be and see from the 68 special. There are many gospel songs, but that was really a very good Video. Thank you Pluto I am so glad that you felt what I felt watching that … it was almost as if Elvis knew that his life would be ending 8 weeks later. God bless you and stay safe.

Two of my all time favorites ,are you'll never walk alone where he is playing the piano ,and I beleive his vocals will reach right thru your heart ,and soul
Praising God just weeks before his death. I love gospel Elvis. Stand by Me is awesome, and He Touched Me. Look up "Elvis gospel Medley" this is him singing gospel with his backing singers between shows, it is awesome.
Milky White Way, Stand by Me, I Believe in the Man in the Sky, You'll Never Walk Alone, He Touched Me are all fab but to be honest any of Elvis's gospel is sensational.
Amazing!! I've noticed that you enjoy behind the scenes content. After shows, Elvis often invited his back-up singers to his suite where they sang gospel songs until dawn. This is a clip of one of those informal sessions: Elvis Presley - Gospel Medley (On Tour) (3:51)
And this was his last concert or so. As he died in Aug 16 1977. That was some line he sang. Oh my Goodness. The gospel song perhaps -Take my hand precious Lord. I didn't know that he done his 1957 the same year as jailhouse Rock. You'd swear it was two different guys singing.
I think you'll like ( without video) -You'll never walk alone - Take my hand precious lord - Crying in the Chapel (with video) -Oh Happy Day (1970 rehearsal) - You gave me a mountain - gospel production number (1968 comeback special) Thank you for all your Elvis reactions!💚☀️
Yes, difficult to watch, I've only watched this 1x. I did email you the 1972 Hampton Roads, Virginia version -- here is the link again --ruclips.net/video/S2v4iOV6Ph0/видео.html (2:31 min.). Wonderful quality video. Thx very much.
The world-famous hymn O store Gud was written in Mönsterås by Carl Boberg in the summer of 1885, after a severe thunderstorm. The song is said to be the most performed and played hymn in the world. At Mönsterås library there is an exhibition about the hymn and about Carl Boberg. English How Great Thou Art
He was suffering from a long list of health problems and very very overweight as well as full of enough narcotics to kill almost anyone. He is not in good shape at all, and yet from the depths of his soul he does an awesome performance. For his audience, he would give everything he could possibly give. Every ounce of his strength he poured out for them - like a blinded Sampson making one last heroic effort to vanquish his foes.

Even being in such poor health his voice is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!

Good comment! But this actually Omaha June 19, one of the shows filmed for CBS’s Elvis In Concert. The other being Rapid City on June 21.
This, I believe was Elvis putting it all on the line. I think he knew his time was close 😢 So powerful ❤
No one does gospel like Elivis!
Brings me to tears every time ... this man was very special ! God rest his sweet soul !
Hard to believe less then 2 months to live from this concert

Elvis was in his element singing gospel songs and you could tell he love singing these songs 👑
👑✌️
Elvis had many struggles. He was not a perfect man. He knew who the Real King was, and he gave glory to God right up until the end.
Choosing a favorite from his gospel recordings is impossible. But.... I have always been partial to his rendition of "I Believe".
Two of my all time favorites ,are you'll never walk alone where he is playing the piano ,and I beleive his vocals will reach right thru your heart ,and soul
Elvis forever ❤❤❤❤
Literally his final concert.
A Masterpiece!!!❤
