    They're is simply something magical about clay. Strategy, indurance, tactics etc. It's not all about serves and short rallies. I just love Roland Garros

      But tennis stopped being about serves and short rallies a long time ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not even Wimbledon, the only Grand Slam with a "fast" court, is having serves and volleys and fast plays.

      @@arthurvandelay. Exactly! All of Roger Frauderer's Grand Slams came after they slowed down the grass at Wimbledon in 2002 and slowed down the US Open in 2002-03! He was the greatest beneficiary of slowed down courts.

      @@iBearD14 Nope. Frauderer can't be called the master of all surfaces when he can't even win 2 clay court Grand Slam titles haha. Also Frauderer didn't excel at the USO or Wimbledon until after 2002 when that was the year Wimbledon and the USO both started slowing down the surfaces. Why don't you Frauderer fans admit that without slowing down the surfaces in 2002-03 your boy would never succeed in those two tournaments?

      @@nogoodnameleft Who called it master of all surfaces ? The closest to it is Novak between the three since Federer struggle on clay (mostly due to his weak one handed backhand on slow courts) and Nadal is under the two on hard court overall.

    Rafael Nadal's clay court numbers-
    10 Roland Garros appearances
    9 Roland Garros singles titles
    First man to win 5 in a row
    14 Grand Slams
    66-1 at Roland Garros
    90-1 in best of 5 set matches on clay
    45 titles on clay
    Easy to say this is the greatest player on clay ever and a very good argument to say greatest of all time period.

      Top-Tennis-Training its not about the head to head that matters. Its about the legacy they leave behind and the fashion they did it in. If djokovic goes on to win 11 grand slams and have a positive record over nadal would that make him the greateast?, no. It would put him in contention with the greatest but being the GOAT is a longshot. The legacy that rafa and roger have are something you see in 4 lifetimes. I don't want to say one over the other but by saying nadal is the goat, while i totally understand with his 14 majors and being the best clay court player to ever live, its a tiny bit under calculated. I love them both and hope they win a bunch more though.

How many times have we heard them comments pouring in from Nole followers " Nole has his number, he can't win against the joker, he beat him in Rome, blah blah blah...When it really mattered, Rafa showed who owns RG. A historic milestone has been reached with this win. Love him or Hate him, Rafa legend lives on! Vamos! exactly what I've been saying after rafa mutilated Murray the other day. It's unbelievable these excuses they make, now it was too hot for novak??? it was a cool 79 degrees. what are they talking about? Novak had no problems winning 4 australian opens in 100 degree weather!! The other delusion is that novak now knows how to beat rafa, what a bunch of shit! In fact ,it's rafa who could control novak in 3 sets anytime they play as long as rafa simply doesnt allow novak to hit that forehand when it sits high up for him and he hits it to rafs forehand side. once rafa can stop that, novak has no chance to ever win a set from rafa.All he has are these big forehands and a good returner. that's it for novak. how can anyone compare the two. it's un believable that patrick mccenroe actually picked novak to win. what's wrong with him???ON clay at paris? are you kidding me patrick??

    • @fadethetrade
      @fadethetrade 10 лет назад +6

      What about the other nonsense that the commentators make the excuses that novak shouldnt make these errors but it's part of rafas game to force these errors on any other player. they don't understand that, these experts??? Thats part of what makes rafa a winner and great, he makes you force yourself into mistakes not that its your mistake that was created, He created your mistake and forced you to make shots that overhit or hit the net,etc. thats part of how rafa wins and they want to blame novak for making those mistakes and he blames himself the way he looks over to his team when he makes an error as if to say that he was hard on himself and dumb to make that error but rafa made him miss the ball and overhit it, it wasnt novaks fault.

    Djokovic has made Nadal look human at Madrid,Rome and Monte Carlo over the last few years.But on Philippe Chartrier,in a best of five encounter it is a completely different scenario.Many people say that this was Djokovic's best chance to beat Nadal at the French Open.But I feel his best chance was in 2011.But Federer proved to be the party pooper in 2011.He knocked Novak out in the semis only to beaten by Rafa in the final.On no other clay court in the world does the ball jump up as high as it does on Philippe Chartrier.Not even Suzanne Lenglen.

      Winston Walker Are you a noob? Federer is the most consistent tennis player, there is no question about it. Yes, Nadal has won 1 Slam for 10 year straight, but that is aided by winning Roland Garros 9 times. What that means is that Nadal is the most consistent player at winning Roland Garros. But tennis is about 4 Slams per year. View from that point of view, Nadal is far less consistent than Federer. How many Slams have Rafa missed over the years? Compare that to Federer, who has the record of most consecutive Slams played. And compare to Federer's record of most consecutive Grand Slam finals, semifinals, quarterfinals, etc.... I guess you are confused by the consistency term.

    A part of me wishes that Nadal retired at this tournament. I would have been the perfect way to end such an iconic and legendary career, bowing out as the world no.1, carrying a 10 straight years winning a slam and masters streak, beating his greatest rival Djokovic winning a 14th slam and 9th French Open a decade after his first. Also think of how much more superior his career stats would have looked, he would have retired leading the H2H vs Djokovic, Federer and Murray, he would have retired with the best career win percentage in the history of the game and 2005-14 (the most dominant decade for a tennis player) would have been IT when looking back at Rafa's career. No post prime declined Nadal years for haters to laugh at.
    But then I remember that even though 2015-16 have been nightmarish for Nadal and us Rafa fans he's still enhanced his GOAT status by winning another masters1000, another Olympic gold, getting closer to all time clay court title leader and so on. Plus getting to still watch him play is a very entertaining pleasure and he could still win a slam.

    This is basically Federer fans logic. Let's say Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson were in the same era. Also let's say Ali's record was 50 wins 3 losses and let's say Tyson's was 50 wins and 4 losses. Now let's say Mike Tyson knocked out Ali in three separate fights, winning all three by KO. According to Federer logic, people would think Muhammad Ali is better just because he has a better record. It's basically what bugs me when they say Roger is the greatest of all time. Sure he has more Grand Slams than Rafa, and sure he has the most consecutive weeks at No.1 but honestly, Rafa has smashed Roger throughout their entire careers. How could Roger possibly be the best when there is someone he can't beat?

      @adaminster4803 10 лет назад +15

      stfu I love Rafa he is my number favourite tennis player and has been for years since he won Australian open against Federer a few years back, but even I cant deny the fact that Roger is greatest of all time...

    • @IzakD8
      @IzakD8 10 лет назад +23

      I'm a Federer fan and I'm saying this. Who you support doesn't make it a stronger argument. They have played 33 matches together in their career and Nadal has taken 23 of them. That's 70% of the matches they've played going to Nadal, and Nadal is 8-2 against Roger in Grand Slams. Just because you have 17 Grand Slams doesn't make you the better player, especially when only 2 of them were actually won against Nadal. I bet you if Nadal get's 17 or 18 Major's people will start dick riding him non stop calling him the greatest just because of that stat, when I honestly have to admit that he already is the greatest, he has smashed Federer his whole career, and even has a winning record against Djokovic when they've played around 40 matches together. His play style cannot be matched, he over conquers his injuries and any doubts people have of him ever winning another major. He is always doing the impossible when everyone is saying he can't do it.

      age plays a role here! rafa is like 6 years younger to him. if they would have been of the same age, Roger could have beaten him. Say a battle of agility, talent,endurance, perseverance vs world class skills & craftmanship !! who would win? i'd say one with the more mental strenghth and desire to win.....at that level it always does and comes down to how strong mentally you are! Rafa always had an upperhand here, but again growing old makes a man weak, against a more pumped up energetic opponent. Its like comparing, Ronaldo and Messi....but yeah whatever!!

    • @IzakD8
      @IzakD8 10 лет назад +10

      Even when they were both young, Rafa has always dominated their rivalry. They have barely played each other ever since Federer went quiet

    • @Archus88
      @Archus88 9 лет назад +3

      Wynmann1690 First, Nadal is 5, not 6 years younger. Second I doubt that it is all about age difference. Roger was at his peek between 24 and 26 years old. Even then Nadal was already beating him. Mostly on clay I'll give you that, but still that's proof that age gap didn't make much of a difference back then.

    Novak doesn't "deserve" the French Open. He's got to go out there and take it from everyone. Novak is a living legend, but his legend can grow larger. Novak set out in 2011 to prove that he was a new and improved version of himself. To finally put his special talent to use and combine it with his new mental strength. Now he's got to do it at Roland Garros, this season. We're just a few days away.
    lol Roland Garros 2015....... It's Go time!
