Gonna have to go with the Nailbombs on this. Though I still enjoy the Solar Duncan’s on mine. Nothing a little tweaking can’t do to get the perfect tone.
That's how you do a comparison, amazing video! For sure deserves more views for the amount of work you put in. The pickups sound surprisingly close in the mix, even though I prefer the Nailbomb as it has a bit more bite/clarity
Thank you so much Simon, truly appreciate it mate! In the mix they sound extremely close indeed, when played the differences are slightly more obvious with the Nailbomb having more of a modern feel with increased note separation and more “direct” attack (if that makes any sense) :). Cheers for checking the video out 🤘🏻
Fantastic comparison! Great quality sound. My ears they both sound good. The Nailbomb has just a bit more bite or as I call it "sizzle". I love that pickup. Need to order one myself. Thanks for posting this video sir!
Thank you so much mate, appreciate it! Indeed, they're not that far apart when it comes to recorded tones, they do feel a bit different to play, the Nailbomb has more "dry" and "immediate" attack if that makes any sense :)!
I really like the Duncan Solars. It was a good balance idea from Ola and the SD crew. I’ve always gravitated towards SD voicing and have a lot of custom pickups from them. That being said I own a lot of BKP stuff and the clarity in the Nailbombs is awesome, especially with leads. I’d take the Solar voice with the Nailbomb clarity. Great demo; both great options.
Thank you for checking the video out mate - glad you enjoyed it! Absolutely, the Duncan Solars are fantastic pickups in their own right, I think they're on par with their American counterpart in a lot of ways tbh.
Looks like crazy low action on that Solar! Both pickups sound awesome, I'm thinking about trying a Nailbomb, but the price is pretty high. I think I'd choose the ceramic magnet as well.
Hi Charles, cheers for checking the video out! Yeah, action was on the low side for this video - had a set 11-49 in D standard so I made it a little easier to play. I definitely recommend giving the nailbomb a try if you have a chance, besides the difference in tone it just feels great play. I just got an alnico Warpig that I'll be comparing soon, I'm curious about how different they'll sound :)
Thank you so much mate, really appreciate the support, very cool of you! Yeah man, both pups are great, was kinda surprised by how good the Solars sound for a stock pickup 🤘
They are close! Both sound very cool. The Nailbomb has more bite, but might also be a bit more vintage sounding? It's almost if it was like the Solar with a tubescreamer in front if it makes any sense. Very cool comparison, I really enjoyed it!
Unholy Ramen, thank you for the feedback mate, truly appreciate it! Ha, absolutely, I didn't make that connection till you pointed it out, the Bare Knuckle Nailbomb really sounds like the Duncan Solar boosted with a tubescreamer - it has that hump in the mids 😉!
Thank you so much, appreciate it mate! Absolutely, Evertune is the bomb! This is my 4th guitar with an Evertune bridge and it actually feels weird when I play a guitar without one 😂!
Phenomenal playing. Awesome video! I ordered a ceramic Nailbomb for my Sub Sonic baritone stratocaster and an Aftermath for my PRS. I can't wait to play them.
Thanks man - glad you enjoyed the video and cheers for checking it out! That's awesome, I've been curious about the ceramic Nailbomb and how they'd compare to the Aftermath - let us know your findings after you played around with them :)
The direct attack of the Nailbomb has me so intrigued and is what I'm chasi g. However, I've softened up and am doing more rock and alternative than metal these days, and I just can't find any demos of the A Bomb to see if it is too much for this kind of stuff. Very very great demo BTW! Thanks for putting this together.
Thank you so much for the kind words, very glad you liked the demo! The Alnico Nailbomb is an awesome pickup and extremely versatile too, I could definitely hear it in a more alternative rock setting, it also sounds excellent when splitting the coils which could make it even more suited for less aggressive guitar tones. Saying that maybe there are better options in the Bare Knuckle line of products that could be better suited to your needs, I can imagine their Polymath pickup being excellent for alternative rock too :)!
@@gabriel_guitarI agree with your assesment based on experience with many other options in their line up and my research beyond that. And yeah the Polymath bridge pickup really has my attention as well, and the way they have gone out of the way to highlight the parallel tones for it has me rethinking my wants/needs for a dedicated tele and p90 guitar. I'm so much better off when I'm not swapping guitars around and just focusing on playing and writing on just one or two guitars that can cover a bunch of ground, which is why I just bought a PRS Chris Henson, 3x humbucker guitar to try to turn into a desert island, studio guitar. Thanks for the follow up comment BTW, and you have a new subscriber!
My absolute pleasure mate, I love geeking out over gear :)! 100%, it seems Nolly and Tim from Bare Knuckle came up with a really unique design that can cover a lot of ground with the Polymath. I’ll be trying out the Silo bridge pickup soon too, should be interesting, Rabea Massaad also has an amazing ear for great tone. Congrats on your new PRS, is that one of their signature singlecut designs?
I might have to give them a try - what would you say are the main differences? More articulate, output and attack? Cheers for checking the video out 🤘🏻
@@gabriel_guitar I'd say it's a tighter more focussed bass(not less), and a hair more agression in the top end without being harsh which equates to not quite as round overall and that works for me for that guitar which I usually do hard rock and some metal with because it's easier to get that bite on the attack and still have the quick percussive bass support. Good stuff 🤘🍻

Which is fortunate because I ordered one of these pickups with a custom Elden Ring etch and will be replacing a Seymour Duncan in my guitar. I probably should've watched this first.

Hi mate, cheers for checking the video out - I'd say the nailbomb would be an excellent choice, it'll probably add quite a bit more body to the sound of your guitar while still adding more definition and note separation, Bare Knuckles are notorious for that. I have another video where I compare this Nailbomb vs a Warpig and the Nailbomb comes across as being more modern sounding while still being super versatile. I think putting a cover on it will most likely make it sound a bit sweeter in the high frequencies, I guess it's a matter of preference. Hope this helps 🤘
