  • As 1990 semester started at the University of Florida, something else had arrived in town. A man with a troubled past, who later inspired 'Scream', would, over the course of one weekend, go on a horrific spree. He brutally, and randomly, broke into people's houses in the middle of the night with a knife, and the stuff of nightmares followed.

      The Judge, the Court, whatever you want to call them, should *NOT* punish (or even remove someone from the courtroom) anyone for yelling, screaming or expressing relief that the murderer of their child is going to jail. It's not like the dude leaped over 7 deputies and was smashing this dude's face in. This man was a monster. The Judge should've just sat there and let the man express his grief. The dude was already being escorted to a holding cell so the guy would've yelled for 20-30 seconds max.

He fought and fought and fought for I believe almost 8 years because he was innocent and a majority of the people thought he was innocent as well. His alibi was turned away due to a "race" thing in a good ole boy network...you get where I'm going with this.
      He, his family, his attorney, his preacher, etc..took it all the way to the top of the top and it ended with him being put in the gas chamber. All that fighting for years and years just for his fight to end in less than a minute - they said he was gone in less than a minute but it took 12 minutes for total death by gas. Was he really innocent? I don't know, but he sure had alot of people genuinely backing him. Anyway, it was a great Documentary and really opened my eyes even wider about the Death Penalty.

      Although that is an actually pretty interesting and accurate insight about the mask actually looking like a caricature of him, I think it was obviously based on the painting The Scream and the even more horrifying artist’s rendering of the main figure in the painting. (although maybe the creator(s) of the movie chose that particular mask that was based on the painting subconsciously for that kind of similar reason too????????)

    • @flauwegeit
      @flauwegeit 2 года назад +1

      @@lovelyjanuary Yeah good questions, I don't know. I really just heard this in a video I think where they claimed this as fact, that the mask was inspired on this killer but what do we know really (the internet is not a relaible source) The painting makes so much sense I never considered that connection .. The thought I had is that maybe there's like a sinister connection between sadness, sad faces and some demonic forces because of the way these facial expressions can make people feel as for instance the famous story with the ' Crying Boy ' with the tear on his face where it is said never to have a copy of that painting on your house because many of these houses suffered spontaneous fires breaking out so it's bad luck, Maybe like the mask is bad luck too (because you're about to be murdered by sadness)

Not that they are at peace with what happened, but that they find peace within themselves to carry on, to not become another victim of the person that stole their loved one. I wish them comfort for when they have the inevitable days of remembering. I hope they have someone to offer a shoulder, an ear, a hug that provides some comfort to them.

    When I was a toddler, we lived on the neighboring street from Danny Rollins and his father’s house.
    He basically refused to speak or socialize with men, but would jog up and down the sidewalks carrying firewood on his shoulder in front of women.
    He tried many times to talk to my mother and kids were told not to talk to him. Our house was broken into while he lived with his father, we weren’t home, but whoever did it rummaged through underwear and made a sandwich and left part of it behind.
    My mother had nightmares for years after Danny Rollins was finally caught. She is convinced he is the person that broke into our house way back then. It wasn’t the only house broken into at that time either.

      It was a massive story when the murders first happened. The reason he hasn't become very well-known is because he was caught and sentenced so quickly and with little fanfare (aka no televised trial or crazy interviews with reporters). There have been so many serial killers in the US, the ones that tend to be remembered are the ones who took a long time to catch (or were never caught), or the ones who participated in their media circuses. Ted Bundy is the poster boy for fitting both of those criteria, and he's the person who tends to come to mind first when Americans think of serial killers.

None of us felt any safer when they caught Ed Humphrey, and didn't really feel all that safe when the second guy was caught until it became clear it really was him.
