still don't understand why Cliff & the Shadows didn't have hits in America till the mid 70s. This is quite good. Glad Elton John got him known here & we were able to see him live on his American tour!! One of the most memorable concerts of my life. Up there with seeing Elvis!!

I was only nearly seven when move it hit the uk charts but l recall already knowing who cliff richard was , also because my dad had all his records....
The early videos really show was a rocking band Cliff & The Shads were!
The song was written by Bruce Welch and Pete Chester and stayed at no. 1 for three weeks in the UK charts back in 1960.

Ah yes. From day 1 Cliff was the real deal. He had the works.
In the early to mid 60s I remember him being equal with Elvis here in Australia.
In this year I heard him in the Radio. I liked very much. But I dind't hear about him until he was sharing the stage with Helmut Lotti in 2003. Since then I am his fan.

Arrived in England in the winter, Jan.10, 1963, snow up to our asses. I liked The Shadows and Cliff Richard very much, This was a time when rock and roll and rock ballads in the U.S. were getting into a commercial rut. The music of the '60'2 in England was really groovy. I was fortunate to be there '63 to '66. I loved the country and the people.

Thats one of the best live pre beatles solos and perhaps even just the best according to George Harrison they should have started to sing and record their own songs, but I think they did well staying with Cliff.

I've only ever come across a single later episode from 1968..
