It's so wild that the only reason this isn't as MASSIVE of a departure for Toyota is because the absolutely insane GR Yaris came first. In isolation, this is such a wild car for Toyota to have released. It's just the GR Yaris being fully bespoke bodied (where this has a modified Corolla body) makes it that extra bit special.

Dang it Toyota. I literally said before this was announced that the Corolla hatch looked good enough I'd totally buy it if it had a manual and/or AWD and/or a powerful engine option. And now that _exactly that exists,_ I'll never be able to find one for sale.
Hopefully that'll change by the time I can afford my next car... we'll see. Maybe these will hit the used market one day.

I really just can't figure out why a company would put so much time and money into developing a car that people really want, then deliberately short the market. It's not like the manufacturer makes money off of dealer markups (or do they get kickbacks?). It just doesn't make sense and is a shame cause it would be so cool to see these cars all over the place being enjoyed by enthusiasts. I'd rather than than all the giant SUVs and trucks that are clogging up the roads.
