Hi, thanks for the details for each topic. In your bottle example, what if you had the lettering in your texture, but you took away the black background in the texture. I believe you would have a bright green label with white lettering. In your example, you have green in the diffuse. I want no green just white letters. how do I achieve this? I am new so I could be missing something. Any guidance would be great. Thanks in advance.

I used to do illustrations back in early iterations of Dimensions (which Adobe turned largely into a packaging mockup tool, much to my disappointment.) Anyway thanks so much for helping to explain this interface in PS 2020

I use Blender for complex scenes and animations. But for simple 3D/parallax things (especially for photos) is a nice addition the Photoshop's 3D tools. A real timesaver.

Can you alter the 3-d object inside of Photoshop? Meaning - if I were making a house and simply wanted to place a pitched roof on a rectangle house.
My Objective: I'm trying to create a 2-d, desktop game map and I want to place several houses down and get them all to perfectly match the same perspective. Will paint in details later on flat image.

When a YT tutorial explains it better than my prof😂😂

    • @pixiedust5239
      @pixiedust5239 3 года назад

Why is your professor teaching you how to 3D model in photoshop? They probably can’t explain it well because it’s absolutely ludicrous to model and render in photoshop.
If this is something you’re interested in please look into Cinema 4d and if your computer can handle it Maya. Also zbrush is a fantastic 3D modeling program if you have a touch screen laptop.
as an old head in graphic design modeling etc make sure to note unless your teacher has a notable portfolio and is known for their work make sure to always keep doing what you’re doing now find your own inspiration and your own teachers. By teaching yourself you’ll build a foundation better than anything you’ll ever learn in school.
Also one last thing to mention, I have been using photoshop for work for almost 10 years now in the Bay Area. At this point it’s considered almost primitive and if you’re only learning photoshop you will have trouble finding jobs in the future unless u have Picasso levels of talent.
I highly suggest becoming a pro at Adobe Illustrator, After Effects, and a 3D modeling program like the ones I mentioned above.
Also many companies for some reason request for their photos and documents to be edited and created in horrific programs like Canva, Face tune etc so sadly you will have to learn those too.
I recently had to alter my career and get into short video editing as apps are all requesting those little Tik tok video templates. Sorry for writing a lot you just seem young and it really irked me that your teacher is wasting time teaching such a useless tool for this program which leads me to think they are not telling you the truth about the industry.
Also!! Lol one last thing make sure you research the city you live in job available etc. I had to relocate from Chicago to Los Angeles and later San Francisco as the Midwest only requests very generic graphic design & 3D modeling for the most part, have a small pool of well paying positions vs west coast and places like New York City have endless number of positions.
I hope this random info somehow aids you in yo ur journey. No one told me any of this and I had to learn it all on my own.
I wish you the best of luck with your studies! 🍀

Maya, huh? I'd love to try it, but right now, my retirement income is steering me towards Blender! LOL Really enjoyed this one, Colin! No worries, you didn't lose me at all! I've been using 3D apps such as Poser and DAZ for a long time, and have done some experimenting with the 3D capabilities in PS. Using all of them together is too much fun, and the results are amazing. I need to do more with Photoshop's 3D, and your tutorial will help a lot! Two thumbs-up, and of course... Like button = dust!

    • @zollo911

Maya really is the next level for 3D in my opinion but It is quite expensive indeed! The only reason i'm able to use it at all is because i'm a student and students get Maya for free. But Iv'e heard great things about blender, iv'e only used it a bit myself but it can also produce some pretty amazing things.

I am having problems with materials. When I add a graphic to sit on top and make the material clear plastic my decal disappears with the material. I want the material to be clear plastic and the image on it to be solid with a clear background. Think thick CD or DVD with the image on the flat disc, not the edge. The image is white with a smoke-like look and solid white text. Hole knocked out of the middle, very similar to a CD. Another way to look at it is how do you put the letters on the bottle without the black box label. Just solid white letters or logos with not rased area like this vid. Just getting started with 3D this was helpful but I need more. Thanks for this vid and all you do for the community.
