To be fair, Warhammer 40k has a lot more lore going on for them than just "Hot Elf waifus like in every other LN, but in space!"
Haven't seen the series being referenced, but given how incredibly simple and homogenized LNs are getting, I wouldn't be surprised if the only reason there's an elf is because it's an Isekai, so of course there's hot elf waifus in your area.

I was going to write that the elf girl is just Vulcan, but figured someone else would have already made the Star Trek reference. I didn't have to look far.
Though, one thing I really liked about Star Trek was how the aliens felt a lot like fantasy characters with Romulans being dark elves to the Vulcans elves, Klingons being orcs or ogres, and the Ferengi being gold hoarding goblins.

How to describe overlord:
A DM spent 100 hours making a campaign for his D&D group, then the group quit after 3 sessions, and as revenge the DM turned it into an anime where the story is told from the Final Boss's perspective and just mows down adventuring parties and starts conquering everything.
It's not uncommon for my older brother to spend longer just making the lore for a campaign before session 1.
And somehow the good guys joined the bad guys all because of a small vampire with a bread board chest

The thing about mecha anime is that the good ones are able to find a balance between the character interactions and drama and the giant robot fights. Think Gundam, Full Metal Panic, Muv Luv Alternative, and anything from Dynamic Productions.

And finally third, my unyielding hatred for Harmany Gold keeps me from mentioning Robotech and instead chose to talk about the 3 shows that it was made from.

The Overlord anime doesn't focus on the lizardmen enough, so people aren't properly attached to them. Believe it or not, Crusch Lulu (that albino one) was a serious contender for best girl among LN readers.
The lizard men culture was well written, and their strategy for the undead mooks was impressive.
Crusch Lulu was also quite cunning.

And it is surprisingly decent. Not good, not great, but I don't regret reading it one bit.

1:27 This space Isekai is called " Reborn as a Space Mercenary " (Mezametara Saikyou Soubi to Uchuusen-mochi Datta no de, Ikkodate Mezashite Youhei Toshite Jiyuu ni Ikitai), and is actually really good! Do read it if you can, I highly recommend.
I think the fact is high technology and low fantasy (so far) makes it more interesting than the regular Isekai, meaning the MC has to rely on good strategy and invest in better equipment to remain OP instead of just "Oh he's just special" shorthand that most Isekai use. Also he one of those MC that actually gets to bone his harem, which gives him extra points as far as I'm concerned.

Dudes in full denial I mean dang I'm nearly a foot taller than that, and I don't consider myself on the tall side of tall. Even in highschool I was the short one of my group, though the tallest was 6'7 and I for the life of me felt so uncomfortable looking up as I talked to someone.
