  • Starring Jack Shutta and Louise Brooks.
The following presentation of "Windy Riley Goes Hollywood" suffers from visual decomposition and poorly-recorded audio. It was mastered from one of the few surviving prints of this rare independentely-produced short.
The director of the film, William Goodrich, was in actuality Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle who had been blacklisted from working at the major studios.

Despite condition of last reel (not griping) a pacy and amusing short with some unfamiliar talent. Good to see a talkie with Louise Brooks. Odd that she was working for Educational so soon after PRIX DE BEAUTE and the Pabsts, but shows how quickly fortunes changed in Hollywood, particularly in this early sound period. Clearly Miss Brooks didn't grumble but just got on with it. Thanks for this one! Robert Smith

Paramount was PO'd at her for not returning to be in sound retakes for "Canary Murder Case", which was shot silent.

I'm reading an excellent biography of her at the moment by Barry Paris.
She was stunning and a great talent, but the responsibility for the demise of her thriving career lays solely at her feet.
Her final opportunity came when she was offered a starring role in The Public Enemy which, in 1931 turned out to be a hugh hit.Turning it down was a hugh mistake.

Right. 90% of success is showing up, and she didn't.
