You are simply The Best teacher. I just bought a Brother embroidery machine and I needed lessons. Even my local quilt store did not offer them on Brother. Thank you.
You Vanessa are a Creative Genius!👏🏽I have learned SO Much from You throughout the years. Your Beautiful Son John actually gave Me the confidence to sew on My Machine; watching Him sew when He was little!😁 Thanks A Million, God Bless; with Perpetual Success!❤️👑🕊
You are absolutely adorable! Thanks so much for being so bubbly, I'm 57 never have sewn anything but bought myself a Brother Sewing and Embroidery machine, for something different. I love crafting, you are great at explaining, I love that you don't whine, lol or bore me into just jumping into a project. Anyway I look forward to lots of sewing and embroidery too!
I love watching your videos. I learn so much. I have had a Bernina for years, but only tried using a few, very few times, because I don't know what I am doing. Now after watching this video, I feel I am ready to try again.
You are such a gifted teacher, Vanessa! And after watching this video, I had the confidence to finally play around on my brother sewing/embroidery machine. Thank you so much! 🥰
This was explained so thoroughly and plainly that even I who has never done this before won't be worried to try it. Thank you, a really great demonstration of how a video should be done.
Thank you for doing such a wonderful video. You are excellent for beginners. I have had my embroidery machine for a year and have only used it when I took the class and have not used it since. I will now get it out and use it-do to your great way of teaching. You are so good. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
This has got to be the BEAT tutorial I’ve seen so far. A dear family friend gave me her pe770 to try embroidery. She said if I enjoy it and can make a little money with it then I can keep it ... I’m so excited to learn embroidering and have been watching videos and you are VERY set by step!
This is an excellent tutorial. I was given the PE770 recently and used it today without any instruction. The letters I embroidered came out ok, but my fabric was too light for the stabilizer I used, and my thread spool was not on correctly. I am very pleased you demonstrated your use of tear-away stabilizer with the temporary bonding spray. This will come in handy as I do more projects. Also, I was happy to see how the machine stops for thread changes. I have saved this tutorial to my favorites folder and subscribed to your site. Thank you!
Vanessa.. I could have used this video 10 years ago when I first started machine embroidery! You are a terrific instructor. Thanks for making the videos so logical and straightforward. I have been teaching for 34 year and certainly can appreciate all the hard work that goes into a great lesson. Love the bloopers too!
this is my first visit to your tutorials, I love the way you explained everything right from getting designs from the laptop to the machine to the finished project, I'm not very tec minded when it comes to the laptop so that was a great help.
Hi Vanessa, I bought an embroidery machine 11 years ago and I'm just now starting to use it. I have to commend you on this excellent tutorial. You are really good at explaining things in a very concise no nonsense manner. I'll be watching your videos a lot in the next few weeks. (A lot of the tutorials on sewing have way way too much chit chat)
Hey Vanessa the way you explain this method is really detail and easy for beginners like myself who want to start embroidery simple to understand and learn how do it thank you so much for being so detail you are very good teacher and tutorial director thank you so much you are really anointed 🙏
Wow! I'm a teacher and I can tell you that you have the touch! Easy to understand, excellent filming, great presentation style and speaking voice! I wish I hadn't spent two days trying to figure all this out by myself with the manual before I found your tutorials.
Just started looking at embroidery tutorials, and this one is wonderful! Very clear, concise and informative. Thank you! I don’t have an embroidery machine yet, but am wanting one! Went to look at them, but was overwhelmed by the choices. Your videos will help me to figure out what features will be important to me. Again, thanks!
Thank you so much. You are very easy to listen to and understand. I will be watching all of your videos. Love how you produce. Clean simple and easy to understand. Thanks!!!
I have a Brother Disney for about a year and a half, and have been trying to get my designs off my USB drive. Thanks for those instructions. That was perfect.
wow you are really good at teaching us! I had to brush up on it due to moving and not using it for a while and you just made it look so simple …thank you you really are great at teaching it..thank you so much Mildred
Thank you!!! I just received a Brother PE 535 today from Amazon. It will only stitch in a 4 x 4 format, but I'm hoping your tutorial will be helpful when I get it set up. I am very computer tech challenged, so this video was a tremendous help.
I learn a lot from watching your videos... I just bought a Brother LB7000 from hsn.com I'm very new at sewing. Although I've sewed little things here and there. Like hem pants and shorts.... but never did embroidery. But trying to find someone who has another lb7000 and shows video is very hard to find on youtube... you are the closest I've found. So thank you for your videos.
Thank you for showing things so clearly that even I can understand. Each step was clearly shown as it happened not like most I see on you tube who talk about it but unless you know what you are doing do not understand what they mean. I can't wait for the next video. Thank you for all the time you take making these videos.
This was great! I have that same machine and have used it a few times so knew the basics. However I was happy to see that you do not have to have the fabric the same size as the hoop. I always thought the fabric had to be the same size so it was secure in the hoop. Also when changing thread I always pull up when removing my thread not even thinking that the thread could shred up in the machine!! Won't be doing that again!! Great tips!! Definitely looking forward to more!
You are the best! I already own the Janome 5000 sewing and embroidery machine but I badly need to upgrade. You have given me the confidence to move up to a newer model.
Thank you for this!!! I have had this machine for 2 years but have been afraid to use it!! Your tutorial has really helped me so I think I'll give it a try! Thanks for your awesome teaching!
Just want you know to know how much I enjoyed your video. The tips you provided were invaluable like pulling the thread from the bottom and alignment. Thank you.
I just shared this on a PE770 beginner Facebook group. You did an amazing job with this tutorial! I have had my PE770 for a year now and would have loved to use your tutorial a year ago. Keep up the good work!
LOL the bloopers! Seriously the BEST beginner embroidery tutorial I have diligently watched! You are a great teacher! I paused throughout as I have my machine right here next to me (Brother SE400) and was going along with the tutorial. I wish you were my neighbor! Thank you so much!
Thanks Vanessa! I've been researching embroidery machines lately and wasn't quite sure which direction to go. This video confirmed which machine I think would be best for me. Keep them coming!
thanks Vanessa, I really need to learn this, as my machine (Pfaff) is 2 years old, and as much as I had lessons I wasn't well and cant remember much. Also lack of confidence. I'll watch it again and give it a go
Vanessa - Thank You! I am waiting for my machine to arrive and to play with it tomorrow and am super glad I checked out your video first! You are an excellent instructor and can't wait to try some of your projects on my new embroidery machine!
Vanessa, I really, really enjoyed this video. And you explain things so very well. Three weeks ago, I purchased an embroidery machine. And I just am scared to touch it. How goofy! You make it look so easy. I have class Wednesday, but till then, I think I can just jump in there. Lots of preloaded items to play with. Thank so very much! Coral, from Texas
your instructions are spot on and so easy to understand; i've followed you for other projects, yet somehow missed that you have these (huh)... at any rate, i am thrilled that i found these today, as i am wanting to get back into "ME" time this year, and using my embroidery machine (which just happens to be a PE770!) and learning to digitize... so excited to continue your tutorials!! thank you thank you!!!! :)
Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!! I got my PE770 for Christmas (2016) and I've been too scared I'd break something so it's just been sitting here for over a year!!! Your video has given me the confidence to turn that baby on! lol I'll let you know how it goes! 😉
Great video Vanessa! I have a beautiful Brother machine. Love it! My instructor gave a very helpful hint on the many threads that get wasted. She collects them and when there is quite an amount she places the threads on the wash away stabilizer and makes eyelash scarves. Multi colored of course. Thanks for all your terrific videos. Darla Hokanson
I have looked at so many videos on how to get started downloading designs and this is by far the best one I have seen. Thank you so much. You have made it a much simpler process than others I have seen. Since I have the Brother pe770, that helps also. Looking forward to more videos from you.
Hello Vanessa, thank you for your demonstration. My BrotherPE535 will be here tomorrow. I have never done machine embroidery so thought I would watch your video for help.
Great tutorial, if you are brand new to embroidery. When you get your new EM home it is overwhelming. Like, ok now I have all the supplies I need so where do I start. I love my EM. Hubs gave me mine for Christmas 2004 now on my third machine mid range and it does everything I need or want it to do. It's still the gift that keeps on giving. Thanks Val
Maple Flagg I have a janome 500E could I use your design on a quilt with my machine ( top, batting and backing) thank you like your video very informative.
i love watching your videos you explain it so its easy to follow I have just brought my first embroidery machine and I have just watch you do a napkin I have just added a name to my project but I put stabilizer and fabric in the hoop is that wrong your way its much better I will use that technique from know on I shall keep watching your videos love them I'm also a gemini 7th june
Vanessa congratulations, excellent video. I love you don't waste time, right to the point, fast forward on threading the machine, excellent! Just got a Janome Skyline S9, great on the explanation of the file format, can't get that from the machine's instructions. I am your follower now. Would I dare to try...? Still intimidating, lol.
Nice to see you are into embroidery now. love your machine. I got the Brother SE 400 for my birthday last yr. love it. My hubby got me the large amount of designs on Amazon for Christmas. Daughter got me the 260 thread box from Amazon. I am set for awhile😊. Happy embroidering Vanessa😊
To keep the bunched up fabric away from the needle I spread it out and let it drape loosely over the movable arm the hoop fastens to.For fabric that light I've had tearaway show through. Water soluble works better for me. Just a suggestion if you have the same problem I did.
I just loved this video. It was so helpful to me. I have just a one size hoop for this machine. That is all it can use. I didn't know anything about embroidery machines . I always did hand embroidery. So now I know I should of checked into it better then I didn't. Oh well live and learn. But other then that, I like the embroidery-machine. I have a brothers embroidery machine too. Well good bye. Thanks for listen.
really enjoy your videos - you are a good teacher and I wish you continued success. TheBrother PE770 requires 90wt bobbin thread - it can cause stitch out issues otherwise.
Love love your tutorial! Thanks for being very thorough. I’m a beginner in learning how to use my new Brother SE600. You just got right down to business !
this was very helpful. I have the brother se625 and am very new to embroidery. I learned about items I had no idea I would need to get started. I am now subscribed
Great step-by-step walk through! Please never take this down. I forgot how to use this machine and am so glad I found your tutorial

Oh Vanessa.....this is going to be great! It's almost midnight when I viewed this. Even so, time to go to my studio.....
I'm so happy you do embroidery too! Now I am not as nervous to use my new Janome machine!
Great tutorial! Clear diction, entertaining, easy to follow, I believe I can do this successfully when my machine arrives. Thanks so much! 🌹🤗
