    I recently decided I wanted to extend the height of my fence posts. When I looked on-line I was shocked to see the prices of wood. I knew the prices had gone up, but.....WOW!! So I decided to do what you just demonstrated. Now I know exactly how to get it done using the posts I have left over from another project. And I'd love to see a video on how you capped off the posts. Thank you for another excellent video, Paul! And again, I'm glad to see you back and well!

      @paulstoolbox  11 месяцев назад

      The only problem with mitering the runners is they shrink over time, so your joints will separate. If you glue them with exterior wood glue they may hold up but it would take time. It would definitely look better though. Thanks!

Then it was left up to me to figure out a way to make it look presentable, I honestly have never seen a worse job, and a lot of times I go with the lo bidder!

    How did you add fence height? Is the outside of the fence on your property. I would love to raise a section of mine but it butts up to a neighbor’s yard and it just happens to be the reason I want to raise it.😬 any ideas?

    • @paulstoolbox
      @paulstoolbox  2 года назад

      Yes the fence is on my property side but I gave my neighbor the good side and decorated mine with Post. I’m very fortunate to have great neighbors all around me. I hear really bad stories about people all over with terrible neighbors, not saying that you have bad ones. Usually when neighbors get along they will split the cost of the fence. Most of the time the person who has the fence installed will put the good side toward them. If the finished boards are facing you, maybe the person before you put up the fence and you can do whatever you want. If your neighbor put up the fence with the finished side on his or her property you may be able to talk to him and put your fence boards taller or the existing rails and Box it like I did. Good luck and have a great day!

    Does anyone know how high you can extend posts safely? I have posts in the ground from my previous fence. I originally was going to dig them up and replace them, but now considering just adding 4ft posts on top of the existing 4ft posts (4ft above ground 2 ft under), just wasn't sure if that would be structurally sound.

  • @EngineerMikeF

    It would be better IMO to pocket hole up from the bottom part instead of down from the top so water doesn't get into the holes by gravity. Otherwise excellent, use of screws for flexibility muy bueno. As to inflation, Let's Go Braindead!
