    Perfection is an illusion and wanted to share some insecurities I've come to terms with. I also share some traits that I like too! I would love it if you guys did the same in the comments below. We're all perfectly imperfect. ✨

    • @l0udenvision814
      @l0udenvision814 6 лет назад +7

      For 3 imperfections I would also say my calves! They're so muscular and "manly" some would say but over the years I've learned to accept my muscular calves ever since a girl complimented me on them because she worked so hard but could never have muscular calves. I would also say my nose, it use to bother me a lot because it was kinda big but not small, I would say my chest area but I've come to love having a small chest!. I love my smile and height though! I'm 5'2/5'3 and I think it's a good for me if that makes sense! One trait I like about myself is my positivity and one trait I would like to work on is listening and understanding others perspective more in depth!

      I loved this video! Such a wonderful message 💛 Three of my biggest insecurities about my body are my hips, my hands and my lips. But three of my most favorable attribute on my body are my nose, jaw line and chest. One personality trait I do not like about myself is that I am easily scared. I am a very jumpy and slightly paranoid when I'm alone, so it makes it hard for my mind to relax. But a personality trait that I like about myself is my leadership abilities. I've just always felt like a natural leader and I love to provide guidance to other people's lives.
      But in the end you just gotta love yo self #bodypositive

      I have the exact same insecurities as you Jenn! I also have uneven eyelids (left side is my "good eye" too), big calves and 5"1. lol.Maybe one more insecurity is that English is not my first language so I really need to work hard on it.

    I had similar feelings about my thick calves growing up! I even considered calf reduction surgery! I wanted slim legs like all the Asian models of the mid-2000s seemed to have. now, I am a dancer and I'm so grateful for my strong legs enabling me to do all that I do. perspective is so important - thanks for sharing :)

    My worst flaw is my "talking"ability. I literally am probably the most silent, non-talkative person on earth, and whe i do talk i'm just plain boring and can't even form sentences correctly 😂😂 It's really a big social problem for me

      I'm sure you're not as boring and terrible with words as you think! I often feel the same as you -- awkward/uninteresting/quiet.. yet several times my boyfriend, who I feel is the "social butterfly", has mentioned after a night out how I'm the "better half" because of how witty/funny I tend to be with people. It made me realize that perhaps I'm being a bit too critical of myself and how I act around people.

      irmalair1 there's a good a chance you're young. Are you? If that's the case, don't worry, as you get older you will most likely get more confident and less shy. My boyfriend was extremely shy and as he got older he gained confidence. Now he's one of the best public speakers I know.

  • @LovingSoul61

    I LOVE YOUR LEGS honestly. It's funny. My insecurity is that I always felt like my legs were too skinny so it's crazy to see someone who has the legs that I always wanted who is insecure about them. I have broader shoulders so I understand feeling boyish. I have just recently begun to really appreciate my legs and shoulders. I think it really helps to actively look for people who share your features and body type because it begins to normalize it for you and you see beauty in those people and then you're like "oh shit! We look the same and she's pretty so how can be anything else?!" That really helped me. I like that my figure is kind of androgynous in a typical sense. It fits me on the inside. And our bodies do so many cool things. We are so hard on them. We should take the time to appreciate them more and love them like they love us. We are them, anyways.

      I have really REALLY chunky legs (small Asian Girl with a small upper body like Jenn's but a super giant butt and thighs so thunderous Thor would be proud of em) so I always really envied girls with skinny legs :( My logic was always that you can put the weight on at the gym with squats etc but you cant take them off without surgery... Sigh. Still makes me feel self conscious every single day.

    Physical imperfections: my little double chin, my cheeks, and my eye bags.. but then I realized these were all features from my dad and I embraced them more after that ❤️
    Emotional imperfection: I can cheer on others but doubt my capabilities. I am talented and driven but I have thoughts of being short of things. Doing a lot better maintaining my confidence though!

    This video surprised me because all the things you didn't approve about yourself, is what I find physically attractive about you. I find that your legs are very gorgeous! Like your big calf muscles is what I always "brag" about XD I'm always like, "everything she wears works on her and her legs are sooooo nice and thick" and my eyelids are uneven too...I actually love that! Either way, your eye make up always suits your eye shape. Also, short girls are soo adorable. I'm 5'3 and I would love to be shorter because I feel like I'm taller than all of my friends. Just know that God made you like that for a reason and He makes no mistake. So like you said many times, be grateful that your body functions the way it does. There are many people who would love to be in your position :) You're such a positive person...such an inspiration. May God continue to bless you!

    Imperfections: (1) My height or general size has always been one of my insecurities, I stand 4'11" and I have been anywhere between 93lbs to 97lbs for 7 years. A lot of people will ask me how tall I am and I always tell them I'm not 5ft. I am one of the oldest in my family, but definitely the smallest. (2) My skin, more so my back. I've had a lot of issues with acne, especially with my back breaking out and scarring. It seems like no matter what I do it always come back to haunt me so I have issues wearing strapless and backless items. However with my face, I've learn to slowly embrace my skin and let it breathe instead of covering it up. (3) I'm not very talented in academics. I try my best in school, but I always seem to have some kind of downfall with it. I don't test well and I get really anxious.
    Perfections: (1) My eyelashes. People have always told me I have beautiful long eyelashes. I've also had people inside sephora or ulta and other places ask me what false lashes I'm wearing and it's really nice to tell them that they're my real lashes! (2) I've really learned to like my small feet. I am 20 years and but I can fit in size 2/3 kids shoes and sometimes size 4/5 womens shoes. Although it is SUCH a hard task finding size 4 womens heels for a decent price, I can save so much money on my shoes because I can fit kids sizes. (3) My ability to care and be there for others. I try my best to be someone who others can genuinely talk to me. I have always wanted to be someone that someone else can trust or go to when they need a friend.

      I think I have found my people!! I'm also 23, 158cm and weigh 48kg. My weight has ALWAYS been my biggest insecurity. When I was younger I would never wear shorts, skirts or even t-shirts and always covered myself up because I was so insecure about my small frame. I've always tried to gain weight but never worked. It wasn't until recent years that I've started to change my attitude. This is who I am. Just accepted it and stopped caring what others think or say to me. Haters gonna hate 😆

    I have been watching you from I started my college and it has been 4 years since then. You are definitely one of the biggest inspiration to me. Jen, I would like to add one more thing, which I am not sure if you ever notice:
    You have a really nice voice! A soothing, cheerful but also very warm and calming at the same time. I did not know that it is possible. Definitely take it to your account.
    Much love

    My biggest physical insecurity is my body shape and type. In elementary school, this evil little boy would call me Miss Piggy and criticize my weight while his friend stood by and watched. It only got worse from there in middle school. I wore baggy clothes to hide my curvy figure and ate for comfort. Now, I’m still a curvy girl, but I’m slowly coming to accept my body shape for what it is and focusing on how I feel instead. My other physical insecurities are my forehead and my stretch marks. I’ve slightly gotten over my forehead, but my stretch marks still irk me.
    Emotional imperfections: I hype up my friends and family and tell them how beautiful and amazing they are, but I don’t do it for myself. I also am so motivated to put myself out there and experience life, but I overthink and decide to allow myself to be afraid instead.
    Things I like about myself: I love my intellect, academic and emotional. I’m able to have a conversation about social issues and such but also read others and tune my responses to how they react or respond to me, whether we’re debating or if they came to me for advice. I also really like my lashes! They’re not spider lashes by any means, but they’re a decent length and have an amazing curl, so I’ve never had to buy a tool for them.
    Thank you for doing this tag, Jen! You don’t know how many women you’ve inspired and helped to be more confident in themselves. ❤️

  • @blackittyyy05
    @blackittyyy05 6 лет назад +8

    I'm planning to keep this even. Two physical and two personality traits :) here we go
    Imperfections
    A. the physical
    1.) I don't like my legs for almost the same reasons you were insecure about yours. I feel like I can't wear the trendy clothes cuz my legs ruin the whole aesthetic. I'm on the thicker side, so my legs are quite stubby. Because of this, I struggle in finding the right pair of jeans. But I've come to realize that I was way too hard on my healthy pair of legs and rationalized that sturdy legs are better than having none at all.
    2.) I don't like my neck, because they have fine lines after years of dramatically gaining and losing weight. My body has definitely struggled in diet during its younger years and it's quite evident on the lines of my neck. I still haven't come to terms with this but i do not allow it to wear me down :)
    B. the personality
    1.) I'm quite a proud person and I want to humble down a bit more. This comes from a portion of my life when people kept telling me that I'm either in the wrong or that I don't deserve what I want because I'm me. Now that I'm older, criticism doesn't bother me as much, but it has come down to a point wherein I end up not listening at all and I think it's important for me to take some response in and to learn from criticism a bit more. :)
    2.) I always do things on a whim. Planning and coming up with big goals tend to give me anxiety in the past. I always had this fear that I won't reach my goal in the end because it seems too overwhelming for me. So I had the habit of doing things deliberately without careful planning. Other times, it worked but a lot of times it didn't. So I decided to plan out smaller goals, like ones I'm sure I can achieve (thanks to your college and lifestyle tips +clothesencounters :) ). In other words, I take one step at a time especially when I want something done. I also don't go all out and take my time. This has been a struggle because my patience easily runs out but I've been doing this for a few years now and things have been fairly good :)
    Perfections!!!
    A.) physical
    1.) my curves/figure - I may not be the sexiest person on earth, but I really appreciate how thick and curvy I am and how early my body developed during my younger years. Puberty has been kind to me and I regret to say that I didn't give it much of a glance when I was younger. But I am now, that is someone pointed out that I've got the scarlet Johansson figure and hell I love her! Now I'm motivated to take care of myself more. Strange motive but it gives me a reason to do something right for a change.
    HAHAAHAHA
    2.) eyes- I have big owl and dolly like eyes, and I love it. My lashes aren't thick or long but theyre still just as dainty. Especially when I put on some mascara or eyeliner, my eyes pop even more.
    B. Personality
    1.) I'm a creative person. I love to write, draw, and read. I think I'm good at all three, and I'm glad I am. Because of this, I had the patience all throughout my schooling years to do my projects and to study more because I love being creative and putting effort in my projects. I also enjoy reading so book reports weren't a pain. I learned many things outside of my classroom too, so I never really abandoned my skills. I was excited to use them in every opportunity I could grasp. Because of creativity and your channel, i learned how to do makeup by myself! :)
    2.) I have good level of endurance. I'm a "just do it" kind of girl, and it probably stemmed from times when my girl classmates or friends were too scared to do things and would ask me to do the risky things for them. So I don't scare easily, I look at any situation head on and I just do it without question. No matter how hard or challenging it can be, I will always give it a go. Even if I fail, knowing that I tried my best will comfort me. And even if I do not like what I'm gonna do, but I know i have to, I will still do it because of how important it is. So yeah. I just do it lol.

    I don't really agree that people don't treat you differently because of your height. I'm only 5'0 and notice that in a corporate setting, especially with a lot of taller executives, you are easily overlooked and eye contact can be lacking in a group of people who are all the same taller heights.

    • @BbGun-lw5vi
      @BbGun-lw5vi 6 лет назад +3

      Trulyblessed521 Absolutely people treat you differently based on height. Short people are often dismissed or overlooked. Tall people get hired and promoted more than short people. This happens all over the world. Although in Asian countries it's a huge problem.
      I still think that confidence plays a huge role and you can make people respect you based on how you carry yourself. You can be a beautiful girl but if you're insecure and show it, people won't pay as much attention as a girl who's just attractive but carries herself as if she's gorgeous. I often see shorter girls who don't stand up straight and show confidence because they feel small. So it makes people treat them like children.
      I also see tall girls who try to shrink themselves because they're insecure about their height because they don't think it's feminine to be super tall.
      If you're short, walk around as if you're 6 feet tall and most people will treat you with the same respect as a tall person. I said most people because keep in mind that there are always jerks who will look for stuff to pick at.

    • @BbGun-lw5vi
      @BbGun-lw5vi 6 лет назад +5

      Keana Hernandez You should try to embrace them. People get older and lose that baby fat that made them look young. It's the reason so many celebs inject fillers, they want your youthful cheeks.
      Here's 2 good things about chubby cheeks:
      1. You will look younger than your age for a long time. It's the reason Selena Gomez can pass for a teenager. People who have slim, defined faces look great when they're young but most often don't age well because as you age you lose baby fat and they don't have enough to spare. So they start to look sunken and wrinkled sooner.
      2. A lot of people find chubby faces really cute and adorable. And children will automatically like you. 😊
      If you still don't like them, the good thing is your face will become more defined as you get older so unless you gain weight, your chubby cheeks will slim down a lot down the road.
