      Well, I built the driver circuit and wrote the firmware, if that counts... but I didn't manufacture the hilt or blade. And when assembled, it can break bones. It's basically a kendo shinai, only prettier.

    The smooth ramp interface plus high-CRI is the mother-lode! They should set the temperature as you did before shipping the lights, and most everyone wouldn't have to bother with the complicated portion of the interface. Wonderful evaluations!

  • @WillEDC
    @WillEDC 5 лет назад +3

    This helps with the d4s ui as well.
    I ended up using a flir to get the surface temp for my calibration. Then set my max temp. I even set the max temp lower to 35c and not 45c from the factory because even if it detects the 35c, the heat ramp is so fast that it still is quite hot. Meaning I can still hit a 60c reading. I may bump higher in the future. Depends. Visually I can’t see the light bumping down the lumens.

    Your videos are excellent man. I totally appreciate all the hard work. Those lights look really nice but I’m such a simple person I could never buy one. Click on, light tap to cycle through the modes and then click for off.
    I’m just a basic person I guess.

    • @Mishibar
      @Mishibar 5 лет назад +5

      Thats the beauty about these UI's, theyre only as advanced as you want them to be.
      You can just use the sinple modes and ignore the rest.
      Click and hold and release when its the brightness you prefer. Thats all you really need.
      If you want it a bit more easy/faster to operate, just follow above instruction once, turn the light off when you ramped to the level you like the best, and from there it will remember your last setting, turning it off and on will get you the setting you turned it off in.
      Single click on/off single mode (does it get simpler than that ?)
      Its only advanced if you want it to be, the advanced modes are only there if you ever need them.

      Hmmm. Tough call. I think probly my favorite of the three is the E07, but the Rot66 is a close second. XPL HI is one of my all time favorite emitters, and I tend to pick cool whites 6500k in most of my lights. The PL47 is offered in XPLHI 4000k also which is why it looks so much warmer than the others.

    • @thatplat1
      @thatplat1 5 лет назад

      @@Tbone42tx Are you thinking that I'm talking about the AUX lights by the emitters? I am only talking about the side switch with the 4 blue lights. The instructions online are to click 7 times to cycle through High 4, Low2Hi2, and 2off2on. I've had my ROT66 for a few months and yes, it can be a little complicated at times. I still have to go online and check things when I forget.
      If you are in lockout mode, you can cycle through the same modes by clicking 3 times.
      For example, this allows you to set your lockout to ONLY 2 ON, the other 2 off. But, when the light is UNLOCKED, the side switch will have all 4 lights on. It would allow you to easily look at your light and tell if its locked out or not.
      When the Flashlight is turned on, BELOW 1x7135 regulator chips, the side switch shows 2 on hi, and 2 on low. This is to portray that the light is on LOW power.
      When the Flashlight is turned on, ABOVE 1x7135 regulator chips, the side switch shows ALL 4 on hi. The white, led light, also gives a quick small pause, when switching between 1x7135 and 7x7135, which is around 150 lumens.
      You will see the pause in the light, before it continues ramping, and you will see the side switch lights change at the same time.

      If you wan to buy bare LEDs in the USA in bulk, mouser is a descent place. I have some cree LEDs on copper MCPCBs for sale in my shop. Outside the USA I would say Cutter electronics for AU and in China intl-outdoor.com

      Depends what you want to do with it of course.
      There is no "best" only some that might suit your personal preferences better than others.
      Like with all stuff.

    The UIs are too complicated: Start at max brightness and click download from there.

    • @Mishibar
      @Mishibar 5 лет назад +3

      The UI's are super simple. People are reading too much into them.
      Click and hold to select brightness, let go at your preference.
      Turn it off and on with single clicks and it will remember your last setting.
      Even simpler than clicking through single modes.
      I and many other people dont like lights that start at max, often I dont need more than just a minimum of light and dont wanna destroy my own and other people's night vision for up close stuff.
      I want an option where you start at the lowest mode, and a way to get to max output fast.
      This UI does both.

    I think I will stick with Mag-Lite's, they turn 'on' and 'off'. That's all I need.

    • @Mishibar
      @Mishibar 5 лет назад +2

      So do these, if you only single click.
      Maglites dont even come close to the output of these.
      Maglites have several modes too btw.

      @@Mishibar - Ya I know, But you have to admit that the one click programming on these flashlights is a bit ridiculous. BTW I installed a 4000 lumen driving light assembly in the tip of one of my 'old style' Mag-Lite's.

      @@baldyetichronicles nah, I dont find them ridiculous, I like having options, even if I dont use them. As long as theyre not in the way of normal operation, Im all for advanced settings.

    What a stupid user interface. I don’t need a flashlight that’s harder to use than my phone. I understand it’s not for someone like me. I guess this is for those hardcore flashlight u.i. Junkies
