- Welcome to BMW M paradise! This is a dream collection of M cars, joined by some special Mercedes and Porsche rarities, tucked away in Toronto, Canada. After touring the private garage of enthusiast's cars, it's time to pick something new for me to drive... let's go!
With thanks to the owner of this amazing collection, and my friend @Drivewithroy for the introduction, we've got a lot to take in here. In two rooms filled with legends, there are plenty of really stand out cars from 3 prominent German brands.
Primarily focusing on the BMWs, and the glory days of the brand, we can walk around the full run from the E82 1M, F87 M2 CS, via every M3 you'd like; E30 Sport Evo, E36 GT, E36 Canadian Edition, E36 Lightweight, E46 CSL, F82 M4 GTS, and even the collection of 6ers and 7ers; E24 M6, E28 M5, E34 M5, E39 M5 and so on. When it comes to dream M cars, you really cannot do better than this! Even notable absentees like the E92 M3 GTS are only stored elsewhere.
However, that's not all because on a Porsche front we can also check out the 991.2 GT3 Touring, 997.2 GT3 RS, 993 RS, 964 RS, and 993 Turbo. Then for Mercedes we've got an SLS AMG, 560 SEL, 500 SEC, and we haven't yet talked about the BMW Z8.
After a full look, it's time to go out for a drive and a car of particular interest to me to experience is the E46 M3 CSL - hence my choice! With Roy taking the wheel of the M2 CS, and the CSL closely in tow, let's go see if this needs to be a future addition at @TheShmuseum!

As a big BMW M-fan that collection is like heaven! Just missing the the beautifully sounding S85B50 v10 (M5, M6) and its little brother S65B40 v8 (M3)! The S54B32 (M3 E46) and S54B32HP (which is the engine in the M3 CSL) are 3.2 liter engines not 3 liter. Thanks for the video!
The v8 m3 it’s in other continent he said that in the video for me I only would add the z4 m coupe.
I was also going to mention the z4m. It’s worth a mention as it’s the last M to have the s54 , lsd diff and hydraulic steering .
E60 got no love 😢
I truly think that M6 was one of the most beautiful cars BMWs put out, besides the 70s BMW M-1! Nice collection put together.. The "Clown Shoe" was a peculiar car..

The owner is super nice guy. Has really good taste in cars. He even let me store my E28 M5 project for a bit. Got to drive a few of these beauties. Amazing.
As an owner of a 2004 E46 M3 with the SMG transmission I’m glad you pointed out that in the proper settings it is not as bad as some critics have mentioned. I absolutely have enjoyed mine for all these years and do not regret my choice at all.
@@UKCheeseFarmer Funny you should mention that color. I have seen every color of the E46 on the road including the dark green and Laguna Seca blue which I only ever saw one of each but I have never seen the Phoenix Yellow on the road. Mine is a titanium silver which is a little more subdued 😂
@@UKCheeseFarmer I was originally going to order a white one with red interior but they told me it would be 10 weeks so I opted for one on the lot which was silver/black and had the options I wanted so I decided to go ahead and get that one before the wife changed her mind on letting me get one 😂😂 Even though it’s 18 years old it’s still a thrill to drive it every time I get in it
@@UKCheeseFarmer Unfortunately the wife didn’t last as long as my M3 we divorced 6 years ago 😂😂but it’s all good..appreciate the well wishes though and plan on many more years of enjoying the car👍👍
Smg is bad compared to the 6mt and modern auto/dct transmissions
@@mperformance3502 perhaps so but in 2004 the smg was fairly new technology at the time
When I lived in Germany I had a '79 320i that was tuned by Zender. What an amazing car that was. Handling and performance PURE! On the way home today from Orlando to Space Coast I was behind a new 840i. Looks really good

A 2011 manual E90 M3 + single-hump (aka no outdated infotainment system) + slick-top (aka no sunroof) + Alpine white exterior + fox red interior.

while you were complaining about the Gearbox I was yelling at you through the tv telling you to turn the Gearbox into it's fast shift mode,, cuz man. glad you did it!
The SMG isn't terrible like many other folks have said. for it's time, it was really good, shifted faster than the 360 Modena during it's time.
also if you lift off the pedal (for a sec) when upshifting the shifts will be butter smooth.

Tim really is a walking, talking compendium (possibly even an Arminiac) of all things automotive. How he finds the time to fill his brain with all the info, do all the travel, film and edit all the content,and still manage to do things like eat, drink, sleep, have a social life and have a relationship. I can only assume something has to give when he’s churning out at least a video a day over at least a few weeks, with plenty more to come!
In 1994 my dad brought home a pristine 23,000 mile 1988 M6. I knew nothing of this car. After a few drives I fell in love with this M6. What a great performing automobile. One of the nicest interiors for its time.

Hi Tim! I had been a huge BMW fan until recently, but I learned how to drive in my father's E60 M5, which was equipped with SMGlll. I've learned with these cars, to have them shifting the best, you should always use S5 mode or S6 mode (S6 mode requires everything turned off). This is where the SMG gearbox shines. Also, blipping the throttle or keeping it lightly pressed while downshifting allows the transmission to rev match much smoother. They get a lot of hate, but they can be much more engaging than the dual-clutch transmission!! I'd love to see you drive an E60 M5 or E63 M6 on the channel or even an E39 M5! It would definitely be a fun video!

I have an e46 2 litre diesel. Owned it for 13 years. I’ve test driven the new 2 and 3 series models over the years.
I honestly believe you can’t get a a better bmw than the e46. It’s such a joy to drive even 13 years if ownership.
This is why you should get the csl. It would be a joy around corners, roundabouts etc.

That E46 CSL is gorgeous. M635 is epic. 1M lovely. M3 Evo pretty special as well.
Great video and collection! Although surely a few uncharacteristic errors at around the 12 minute mark? The DSC button is Dynamic Stability Control? Gearbox change speed is controlled by the switch behind the shifter. Also it’s a 3.2l not a 3.0l engine.

The 635 CSI is my all time favourite BMW of the 70’s 80’s - though I love the look of the 325 / BMW M3 E30. They just look so much better design wise than the newer stuff. Surprised there isn’t a 2002 in the collection. The most gorgeous of all the vintage BMW’s imo.

With the amount of copious different things a single car requires, it is amazing car companies offer options and all the fixings they do. All of them are in fact expected to last for at least 40 years if kept in prime atmosphere. That is incredible.

Nice garage! Try driving a Z4M Coupe at some point, sort of a all manual lighter e46 M3, with both steering rack & brakes from the CSL. And terrific looks!
Wow, this is amazing, you quite literally drove by my house haha. Never expected Shmee of all people to be in the boring Toronto suburbs! Too bad for the driving route, I mean come on, just 3 km north of where you were driving you could've had much more fun through some country roads.
My first car was a 2004 bmw 330i It must be in my final destination in life and boy is it glorious 🥺

E46 CSL much more cool than 1M in my opinion.
You should consider the E46 M3 CS, produced after the CSL by BMW UK has the best bits of the CSL with less weight savings but manual gearbox, SMG was an expensive option.
E39 will always have a special place in my heart 💙 Have had one in the fam since 2000 love the beast

Never a disappointment Shmee, in high school I had a 98' 323is so the E36M has always been a looker to me. Keep up the good work.
Thank god there's no G80 M3/G82 M4 as punishment for buying them in other colors besides dark blue or black.

Tim you should have driven the original E30 M3! Such a legendary car, and still considered one of the most balanced, best handling cars ever produced!

I used to have an 88 M5...amazing car! That example is an American car, with the tan interior. Canadian models only came with black inside.

I’m not sure what you plans are in the US but you need to head south unless you have snow tires on the AMG. Nov. 5th Landrum SC has a cruise in downtown. I will be there and am expecting a good crown, nice weather, great fall color and no snow.

S54 the greatest naturally aspirated inline 6 engine ever built. Love the colour of the E36 M3 GT. The M2 CS would look amazing in that British Racing Green colour.
No 8 series though? 850 CSI and M8 Competition are both awesome cars imo.
I’ve owned a e46 m3 for many years now, manual car in silver grey csl wheels and some very minor subtle modifications. Seems to be turning more heads over the past year than it ever has, beautiful car to drive.

CSL with SMG2 is best combination ever. If you drive it how you should drive it, lifting a little bite when you shift, it’s Top😊 Btw CSL was only for EU en UK. Cool that one arrived in Canada too. I think in 2025 it can also be imported to the US🎉 prizes will boom (823 LHD made😅)
This is so exciting as a BMW fan myself and a owner of a 568HP M2CS, E46 323i sedan that is 450HP using a ESS supercharger with a really nice bodykit on it that looks factory I call this car DTM3 because it looks like a DTM race car for the street and I have a stock X5 and a stock Z4 as well as my E28 5 series in metallic burgundy.
Love the M4 my dream spec is yas marina blue with gloss black rims
