I want to know how he runs that operation. For example, does he pay the staff with money that spins off from investments every year? I know he has some car care products, maybe that pays the staff? Does he talk to them often and direct them, or does the foreman oversee most of the operations? It seems to run like a well-oiled machine and I'd love to see how he set it up. Honestly, there's so many fascinating things about his collection--the cars, the decor/art, the staffing, the acquisition of cars, the show, and on and on.

There are so many celebrities that are like “Yeah I like cars” and have stuff like Lambos, Ferrari’s, Maybachs, those who like the “hyped” cars. And then there’s Jay, a pure car guy that loves all things related to automobiles, and has a car collection that’s probably the biggest in the world and doesn’t toot his horn all the time. Massive respect for him.
You should also mention that he drives all of his cars. IIRC Chris Harris stood with him in front of a random car and asked: "when was the last time you drove this?" and Leno told him to put his hand on the hood of the car, the engine was still warm. Many people are "collecting" (=taking off the road) drivers cars just to look at them or call it an "investment", the worst cases are those who buy 5-10 identical cars and ruin the market for true enthusiast because lightweight cars can't be built anymore, drivers cars should be driven as long as they are safe. Cars with special designs and luxury cars should be collected but not classic purpose built performance cars.

JChristian Jay is a workaholic. He banked all the money he made from the Tonight Show when he was doing that and would live off the money he did from stand up on weekends so he’s probably got a lot saved up.
He is so interested in all the technical things and the history. Many rich guys just have the cars for the performance and status, but don't know much about the cars itself. but that's no problem, they just hire people to maintain and take care of the cars

It's an amazing place. Even for a car guy there's things I've never seen or even heard of. It really could be a museum. The crazy thing is that everything in that building is ready to be driven at any point.

I see this place becoming a museum after Jay's death. Almost 300 vehicles. I'd pay to walk around in that place.
It's an amazing place. Even for a car guy there's things I've never seen or even heard of. It really could be a museum. The crazy thing is that everything in that building is ready to be driven at any point.
I think he has thought of that. Just look at the place. It is already a museum and he is the museums guide. He probably has a foundation in place to protect this place in the future and make it accessible.
I hope it becomes a museum one day for the public.

back in the 60's at Liverpool Pierhead there was a big white american car with a big white american sitting in it and being a snot nosed scouse kid I was slobbering all over it and the guy was playing the in dash record player, we didn't even have one at home, record player that is not big white american.

My favorite story about Jay's Y2k (from back when it was first built) was talking about sitting in traffic and noticing in his rear view mirror that it was melting the bumper on an Acura behind him.
