For everyone that thinks I am just bashing on Snap On that is not the case here. Just a few tools that I think are not any good. They have a bunch of excellent tools here’s my top 10 list ruclips.net/video/Nwd75-zmFTg/видео.html
Hey have to agree with your list I use the slim vise grips for away bar end links when you need to get behind the pinch part of the joint I get I end links done before teeth are non existent anymore I can't believe no one else makes a slim pair for this application I have 3 pairs of the Slim's to do endlinks when they have no hex or flats to hold I'm up in ny rust belt rusted seized fasteners are a given
I thi k snapon could do a few inexpensive things to improve thier products to make them over the top. Like adding the quick release nut on the cordless grinder geeez or a better aH battery or making thier batters water resistant.
I bought that exact 1/2" drive coardless impact about 5 or 6 years ago and it worked great for what I was doing (changing tires) but when I needed to take off an axle nut on my personal car at home it wouldent wvwn budge it. And as far as the 1,000 cycles for warranty its 1,000 charges on the batteries. If you hold down on the button to indicate the charge it will start flashing at the different bars to tell you how many times that battery has been charged. I forget what each bar references for charge amounts tho. But I recently bought the Milwaukee M18 Fuel 1/2" friction ring, high torque one key and it's a beast. It weighs a little bit more but it has the power to back it up 100%
Couldn’t be happier with my Milwaukee 1/2 impacts. Especially for the price difference. I’m always taking off semi lugs with it at work. Just can’t buy into snap on power tools, And I have quite a bit of their hand tools 🤣
Milwaukee battery tools work best for me. Ive bought 2 different snap on battery powered tools both didn't last or work very well. Thanks for your reviews.
They all have some bad apples, we just have to find the goods. Without honest reviews like yours a lot of these Wrenchers would be lost. Thanks for another great video. I Appreciate all the hard work you put into bringing us such great content, Thank You Mr. Clay.

Clay I’m a Kool-aid drinking Snap-On believer myself. It pains me to watch this video but your 1000% percent right. It just shows if you keep your head in the sand you’re not buying the best tools for the job. As always another great job and thanks for your hard work.
The new brushless pre polish tool is amazing. I've been using it since it came out with 0 issues with it. I use it daily for small scratch removal and headlights
I’m a flat rate tech at a Honda dealership. A real busy one at that. I started recommending headlight polishes for a half hour when the guy on my team next to me bought a snap on polisher. It used to get hot as hades in my hand. Was always scared it would burn up when I was holding it so I bought the Milwaukee kit with two batts and a charger for 170 shipped. Has adapters for polishing and a 2” adapter for rol loc cookie wheels and such. Things a monster. And it has a handle that’s removeable and can go on the right or left and a button for a tool-less change between the two apadters. I would highly recommend it to y’all!
I love my Milwaukee vice grips! They have a tab with a hole in it on the end so once you have them attached, you can stick a screwdriver thru it and tighten it up even more
I have sets of Snap-on wrenches, ratchets, sockets and screwdrivers I have had for over 30 years, but in these cases, you are not wrong. I haven't tried their locking pliers but in everything else you are spot on. Their cordless tools leave plenty to be desired and now I stick to Makita and Dewalt.
I can second those drill bits suck I bought them when I first came in the shop from the fuel island had them for a month before they started breaking on me
Interesting, bought these off the truck and I did break a smaller bit but was user error I was being to aggressive. These bits are good and cut like butter if you actually lubricate them and stay straight so I disagree but I didn’t like the 300 price tag lol. I’ve used the for a lot of extraction and thread repair no issues. I got my snap on brushless drill behind them and they work great together the gun will back off before it will break a bit.
Hey Clay. I agree with you on this video. We pay good money for Snapon but if it’s not living up to expectations it should be called out. The 14 volt tools are nice and handy but if they keep breaking down then Snapon should look into it and make adjustments or credits. I purchased the 1/2” impact and not too impressed with it. Excellent video.
You are exactly right. They should fix known issues. Car companies have and we use these tools to fix cars so Snap On should have to fix these issues also. We depend on tools to put food on our tables and a roof over our heads.
You get 5 agreed fro me. Drill bit is drill bit, not worth 300. The battery power tools are overpriced than other brands in the store, and vise grip just be the Irwin Original.
I have a starter button from Snap On but it's from the early '80's and still works fine. $300 for drill bits is insane. I bought some Milwaukee split point bits from Home Depot on sale for $20. I'm very impressed with them!
The old starter switch in the black rubber boot was indestructible, they put a pretty dress on it and it was at least 2 times the money and no good.also there Cummins and Detoit injector puller was worse than there vise grips, every thing about it was wrong.
totally agree with the locking pliers- I have a few- and never had any luck with them. Turned them in for new ones, same thing, they suck. Now they just sit in my tool box
One of your best videos, Thanks again Clay. I owned 3 through 5 on your list, and thanks to the Snap On Gods, Ross stopped showing up. And Eddie my Matco Rep did. Thanks for another great video!
Another good video by Mr. Koon. I almost always buy Snap-On tools because I am risk averse and haven't had negative experiences beyond cost. Luckily I use hand tools instead of power tools so I didn't make the mistake of buying items #4 through #2. I don't buy expensive disposable items like Snap-On drill bits so have never considered buying item #5. I have had two sizes of vise grips, the tool of last resort, for at least 30 years so I never bought item #1.
I have the CT8850 I bought from a coworker for $100. He told me it was junk when I bought it from him. I bought it anyway...I know! Well, turns out, it’s junk!! I’ve used it 2 or 3 times and it wouldn’t even break the lug nuts on my motorcycle trailer! I’ve always had to go back to my IR air impact until here recently when I got on the wagon and pulled the trigger for the Milwaukee 2767-20 1/2” high torque bad boy! Great video once again!
I agree the 1/2 inch impact feels much heavier than in needs to be. I have bad shoulders and i only use it when absolutely needed (like in the junkyard where i dont have pneumatic)
TOTALLY agree on the 18v 1/2...bought that POS. thought no bolt nut stood a chance, So wrong. Thank you Milwaukee. Disagree with the prep tool, love mine.
My S-O dealer wont sell you the grip--ons. He keeps irwin on the truck... pretty sad... I just bought knipex locking version and they are definitely worth $50 a pair
Just bought my first set of Knipex pliers and I find they have an amazing feel and amazing performance. Not the easiest on the wallet, but worth ever penny imo. Only regret is not needing them as much as I would like lmao
I agree with you on the CT 8850 I am on my third, one blew trying to get a lug off of a small car!, and the 14.4 polisher! Those are absolute GARBAGE! $300 for drill bits is ridiculous! I am about to get a Milwaukee gun.
I definitely agree with all of these for me personally I won't buy any of the snap on cordless stuff I think its way to overpriced and much lower quality than most if not all of the cheaper competitors out there, if your looking for another solid starter button I would reccomend the OTC one the last one I had lasted forever and I just now bought a new one, also on tool truck drill bits mac will warranty theirs if they are broken so that's basically an endless supply of cobalt drill bits if you buy their set which I think is like 300 to 450 bucks a set depending on which one you get
Snap On has some good stuff but totally agree with you Clay those products need to go and are not worth purchasing. As always you are 💯% right on the money!
I’ve had the prep polish tool for 3 years no issues! and the 1/2in drive Impact for 3 year and agree that you can buy a stronger for cheaper but it still zips off lug nuts and hasn’t needed repair, and yes the snap on vide grips suck. They were good for about 2 weeks then the teeth wore off them and the release mechanism bent to shit
I personally use and love my 14.4 volt prep and polish tool. Got it as a gift from my father. Had it for a few years and it has given me 0 trouble except for after using it hard for a while. It does get pretty warm and will safety shutoff before it burns up. But other than that I love mine
Save your money and buy a pneumatic adapter or Milwaukee. If you watch the video (I put a card at the top when the polisher first comes on, then when you click the video it’s around 4:20 mark on it, there’s a comment pinned with the time stamp and you can see the polisher in use and hear where that was #3 I burnt up and also see the footage. I was shooting a video when it happened)
Great video, I really appreciate that you are always honest!!! I would love and really appreciate if you would do some more how to videos on big rigs. Your videos have helped me make some money and I always enjoy learning new ways to do stuff!!
I agree with your list but man there’s something about a snap on wrench motivating you to work! I don’t know what it is but dang I get so happy working with a snap on wrench I don’t know why!
..because you are relieving some of the guilt you felt paying so much for it..you are making money with it when you are using it, thus helping justify the purchase.. :)
All electronics have that smoke packet in them and when you pop them that’s it. They done ! Hahaha I had a total of 3 of those polishers and none made it 5 mins. Snap On should take those off the market until they fix the issues with them. They know the problem, it’s that cheap ass plastic fan they use in there. Really how much more would it cost to make it out of aluminum ? Guess the profit margin is more important than making a quality tool ?
Very helpful, KT. Given what's available from the competition, Snap-On is simply no longer cost effective. From your demonstrations, I would suspect Chinese manufacturing. Many companies are living on their reputations earned in the past that are no longer deserved. Door to door hustling made Snap-On a name in the past. Given efficient delivery, people don't need to shop like that any more. Professional evaluations like this are very valuable for consumers to avoid making selections they might have based on name alone. In addition, I learned of the Irwin wrench here. Thanks.
Other than Mac having their cordless tools made by Dewalt, I fee like the the Big 3(Snap-On, Matco, and MAC) have really fell behind on their cordless stuff. None of the techs I know have Matco cordless stuff. The price of what they’re asking is ridiculous considering how bad their reliability is.
When I started out as a boat mechanic, I fell for the Snap-on truck and bought a $550 semi-composite impact wrench. It was nice...about 10 years down the road it just flat out died and wouldn't spin. So, I went online and found repair parts through some 3rd party websites. Well, low and behold...the parts arrived, and they were all in Ingersoll Rand parts bags. I felt sick to my stomach, so I went online looking for IR semi-composite impact wrenches. There she was, for $200 cheaper. Same with my Snap-on amp-clamp, it's made by TPI, for $100 cheaper.
I bought my 18 volt snap on impact a few years ago and was $200 cheaper than what you show the kit being on line. I use it Day in and day out and is a great impact for automotive use. I do feel the replacement batteries are over priced but there’s less than $5 difference between the snap on 18 volt battery and the Milwaukee 18 volt battery so I can’t knock snap on too bad for that since the tool it is competing with is in the same price range.
Good film and advice, Mr. Clay. If you need disposable tools go to Harbor Freight, especially for their hand tools. You can walk in there with your head held high knowing the locking pliers have a lifetime warranty with no questions asked when they break and you need another pair. Same for the drill bits, I’m not sure about the lifetime warranty on those. I bought the Actron remote starter switch from NAPA, $17.00. Yeah, it’s made in China. I reckon Snap-on’s is too, I don’t know. I looked at the Pittsburgh Automotive remote starter switch at HF and thought, “Naw”. I know Actron makes decent stuff.
Shoot Snap On Locking Pliers have a lifetime warranty they just don’t hold anything and suck really bad ! Haha they are COMPLETE garbage that’s why they made it to #1 !
I have a snap on box and a lot of snap on tools but I have put the m18 high torque head to head with the snap on m18 was lighter and stronger for the snap on price I bought 2 m18 guns and still had about 200 bucks left over
I agree with you on the drill bits been they're done that what should make your list is the cordless reciprocating saw, the dewalt smokes , it's garbage
I have the polisher and havent had any problem with it, however, ive used it maybe twice, and it has gotten hot on me several time. So we will see, its awesome that your snap on guy did that. Love you videos thanks a bunch
I have got the best Snap On man on earth. He will stand behind his stuff every time. Hamilton is a great guy on and off the truck. He’s hard to beat. I’ve said it before if he started next week running a harbor freight or a sunnex truck that’s what I would be buying. It all boils down to the dealer and fortunately we have a great one.
The 1000 cycles warranty refers to total charge cycles. There is a way ur 18v batt can read how many times its been charged and display it. I think if you hold the batt level indicator button down the lights flash each figure its been charged.
Wow thank you I will be staying away from the Snap-On battery operated tools if they are that bad and I will head your work at that price as I only spent a little over $ 200 dollars today on the Snap-On truck ya I was updating some of the extra parts on the Universal Joint Ball Press Press my Father purchased back in the 1950's and yes it still works fine and I have no intention of buying new Snap-On tools and being like my Father paying a bill more then a decade after forced retirement ...... Great Video and thank you .....
I do and my son, we both use the CT8850 for automotive lug nuts. Its pretty good for that. I don't think i paid 850. For it i bought it with the 3/8 gun and 3/8 ratchet combo.
I agree with #4 so much I bought one thought it would be amazing, Bought one and it sucked and had a hard time reselling it because it was such a turd!
Same here got the 1/2 impact tried taking out a crank bolt all it did was vibrate ended up borrowing my mates makita ,No problem. Can’t sell it because it sucks .Stuck with it.Stop being cheap snap on .make a decent impact or lose customers, next thing you know they’ll be buying millwaukee spanner’s ,GET A GRIP QUICKLY
You're right about 1/2 inch impact I wish I would have known about the Ingersoll Rand impact before I bought this one I am disappointed because it won't even take off the infamous Honda Bolt even with the special socket it still takes about 10 minutes to break it loose
I agree with all these. Thank you for sharing the truth. Good and bad with Snap On. Just because it says Snap On does not mean its always the best. I always enjoy your videos.
The problem I'm having is just about all my tools and master Tool Boxes are Snap on. when they get older Snap on no longer has parts or the repair center states they no longer repair those tools. In 2009 I purchased a XT1700 Air impact wrench. Just 2 weeks ago I went to use this and no air pressure. I've always oil my air tools. I also have a 25 year old IR that needed repairs and I had it repaired in 1 week. Tried the same with my Snap on and was told it was discontinued by Snap on. I kept my receipt and faxed it with all the information and Snap on text me back and said they no longer repair this model. I found a local Snap on truck and he said he could give me a $100 off a new Gun. HE also said he traded in 20 to 30 of my type because no parts are available. He agreed and said a lot of snap on electrical and air tools when the get old no parts are available. That same day I order a Astro THOR. At least I can get this repaired!! LOL
Only had one SnapOn purchase i regretted. A green racheting screwdriver with bit holder in handle. The bit holder top constantly fell off and the bits were lost. The screwdriver functioned properly but it didn't feel right in hand or pocket. Collecting dust somewhere in tool box.
Yeah I had the same one and the top would come off when you used it. I actually forgot about it until you mentioned it or it would have been on this list also
My CT8850 is just fine. Takes off the same stuff our Milwaukee does. Battery life 100% sucks though. I bought it soley because it felt comfortable in my hands all day.
The one I tried was like that Shania Twain song ...... “that don’t impress me much” haha it was way over rated and over priced and heavy. But there’s one for everyone so if it works for you then that’s good but for me, I wasn’t willing to buy it.
I bought item number one and let me tell you I've already warranted them out and they are still junk, so now they are lost in a tool box drawer somewhere lol
Great video Clay, agree with your list dude 👍 I love Snap On, but they do have hits and misses, cant be good at everything. I took your advice on the Irwin locking pliers, they are awesome 👍
...try Snap-On's new USA made locking pliers made by Malco in DeWitt, Nebraska..old Vise-Grip factory...they are typically Snap-On pricey, but are top notch...and they blow the Chinese-made Irwin's out of the water..you can also buy them from Malco, branded Malco Eagle-Grip, but they are not much cheaper than the Snap-On versions...
Clay, The big lesson to learn from this video is that almost every item you mentioned is a power tool. Maybe Diesel and Auto Mechanics needs to do like us electricians and only buy Milwaukee, Ridgid, DeWalt and BOSCH power tools. ---just sayin'
That's where everyone is going now everyone's going milwaukee, dewalt/mac since they are the same and some of the others but 90% of the guys now I see buying new power tools especially in the diesel shop/shops I've worked at are all going Milwaukee now
I 100% agree with all of the above. I was on the fence on the 1/2 electric impact and glad I backed out. Ended up buying all Milwaukee M18 Brushless 1/2 a 3/8 mid Torq and 1/4 nut driver, M12 Fuel angle die grinder and drill. So 5 tools for the cost of 1 Snap On 1/2” electric impact. I’ll just stick with their hand tools. 👍🏻
Old school mechanic here, in my experience in tools and power tools. The only tools that Snap-on has that are quality is there wrenches, and drive ratchets and that's pretty much it.
Those are the biggest waste of money on the tool trucks. You are better off burning a $50 at least then you feel the heat off it. That would be a much better way to spend that money. The Snap On locking pliers aren’t 1/10th of what any Erwin vise grips are.
I work at "Direct Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge/Ram" Dealership here in Wytheville, Virginia. The only power tools by Snap On that I ever see anyone using in our shop is the Snap On power ratchet. For all other power tools, I see Everyone in our shop using Milwaukee or DeWALT for everything else. I have even heard our Snap On rep admit that Milwaukee is crushing everyone in the power tool game right now. Multiple times I've heard him complain that he wishes Snap On would revamp their entire power tool line or they'll just going to keep losing business to Home Depot if they don't.
Was talking to my snap on person he keep saying new battery tools on way , and you can fill in blank blank . Thank you clay. Maybe walley should make list too but all his tools over the floor , then let bill have one too
Yep Clay i no all about the snap-on locking vice grips, "junk!!!" And i have problems with my blue point ones also, my old snap-on dealer wold not warrant them., well he no longer sell snap-on tools, he quit.
I think the older ones are good ? I know some people that have had them a long time and had no issues with them. They had to have changed something inside them. Either the plastic they made the fan out of or the design
their whole battery line sucks. I am under the impression the only Snap On tools I like is their impact extensions with lock rings, ratchets and sockets.
Clay one of good tools I have I didn’t think I’d use much, the drill doctor, but you gotta get the best version it does the different points. It’s way better then just using a grinder too sharpen or buying new bits. I tend to use Tap Co. And Milwaukee bits.
I’m a big fan of Snap On Tools as well but after having owned many of their tools have found they really don’t hold up any better than some of their lesser expensive competitors say like GearWrench tools in my opinion is the Best Bang for your Buck and they offer a pretty good tool selection too. With that being said I’m not going to get rid of any of my Snap On Tools keeping what I have but I doubt I will ever spend several thousand Dollars again to buy them like I did the first time. I guess the prestige of owning Snap On Tools make a good conversation with the guys at work.
When it comes to locking pliers. Its Irwin or nothing. Always. Everything else is junk. I've learned that over time. In term with the 1/2 cordless kit, its $800 dollars where you can get a milwaulee 1/2 and 3/8 kit for just over 900 dollars. Two better way better guns, charger and two batteries. If youre going to shell out the money on a cordless impact kit. Thats the one to get.
..I have to disagree about the Chinese-made Irwins..the old USA made Vise-Grip were best in their day, no question..the new China-made Irwin Vise-Grips are too soft jaws, the Milwaukee locking pliers and some others are better..BUT..if you want the absolute BEST locking pliers, buy the new Malco Eagle Grips..made in USA in the old Vise-Grip factory in Dewitt, Nebraska..they are also the new supplier for Snap-On, as well (the locking pliers in the review are the Spain-made Grip-On's made for Snap-On..not the same as the new Malco USA made ones)...the Malco pliers are pricey, but the fit and finish is excellent, and tolerances are tight, and are made of top-quality metal...Check them out...
I have to agree with you on the locking pliers drill bits I never use those so I can't really say when it comes to impact wrenches I prefer the air powered ones
...Get their(Snap-On's) new locking pliers made by Malco in USA, you will be impressed...those in the video are the ones made in Spain by Grip-On...forget their drill bits....
8850 early version come with a different motor and often it run low on power. The later version is not too far off the Milwaukee one. Luck my one was replaced under warranty or it will cost me another $3xx to replace the motor. but the weight still makes me want to swap camp to M
My dealer even said them Vise grip suck and he won't sell them to me lol I have a pair of the grip on 1s that I paid 10 bucks off Amazon and not the best but dont use them much
honesty and fairness is why I like your channel so much. keep up the good work. appreciate it! they definitely have some great tools, tho overpriced, and of course they will have some turds.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the 18 volt impact snap on is not good , don't get me wrong it has some torque but the battery life is a joke, battery was dead after 1 tired rotation while the 18 volt ridgid work 2 or 3 days on the same battery charge
Glad to see the. Ct8850 on here . It's genuinely junk, mine can't even take wheels off on a full charge torqued to 150Nm , and it's already been rebuilt twice in 12 months
Some really good drill bits I use are milwuakee drill bits went the 2 inch steel like butter I'm a steel worker they last a week with very heavy use worth the price
For everyone that thinks I am just bashing on Snap On that is not the case here. Just a few tools that I think are not any good. They have a bunch of excellent tools here’s my top 10 list ruclips.net/video/Nwd75-zmFTg/видео.html
I agree on the 18 volt 1/2 drive I have two of them and they don't have but 200ftlbs of take off power
Hey have to agree with your list I use the slim vise grips for away bar end links when you need to get behind the pinch part of the joint I get I end links done before teeth are non existent anymore I can't believe no one else makes a slim pair for this application I have 3 pairs of the Slim's to do endlinks when they have no hex or flats to hold I'm up in ny rust belt rusted seized fasteners are a given
Thunder bits more like butter bits
I thi k snapon could do a few inexpensive things to improve thier products to make them over the top. Like adding the quick release nut on the cordless grinder geeez or a better aH battery or making thier batters water resistant.
Koon Trucking Most Snap On tools are hugely over priced and their tool boxes are absurdly expensive!
But if you buy $1k worth of tools you get a free hat
A friend of mine bought 30.000 worth to get the big snap on sticker LoL
No $900 dollar backpack and a free 1/2 gun
So u buy 2 things u get a hat basically
Lmfaooooooo I’m dead 💀💀💀
Wtf we just dropped 1,100 and didn't get a damn hat lmfao
I bought that exact 1/2" drive coardless impact about 5 or 6 years ago and it worked great for what I was doing (changing tires) but when I needed to take off an axle nut on my personal car at home it wouldent wvwn budge it. you can get a makita for $60 brand new and the XDT11 has lasted me about 7 years of daily use

LOL, great list brother.. 300 bucks for drill bits, WOW!!!
Especially since Mac drill bits will run you a little less for the set, and they are lifetime warranty when you do break one.
I’m very happy with my Norseman drill bit set. I use them almost every day and they perform excellent. Low drill speed and cutting oil helps too

Get the new USA Malco-made ones Snap-On offers..they don't suck..far from it....
One of your best videos, Thanks again Clay. I owned 3 through 5 on your list, and thanks to the Snap On Gods, Ross stopped showing up. And Eddie my Matco Rep did. Thanks for another great video!
Man those locking pliers broke my heart when i tried using them to pull a broken stud out. The vise grips pulled it out no problem.
Let me take it off your hands then
Almost screamed out YEEESSS when you set the locking pliers at number 1
I agree the 1/2 inch impact feels much heavier than in needs to be. I have bad shoulders and i only use it when absolutely needed (like in the junkyard where i dont have pneumatic)
Thanks for the laugh. Tape .25¢ to the locking pliers so they're worth something. Pure genius.
TOTALLY agree on the 18v 1/2...bought that POS. thought no bolt nut stood a chance, So wrong. Thank you Milwaukee. Disagree with the prep tool, love mine.
I bought my kit used.I hated it as soon as i used it..Overpriced junk..My Milwaukee is my go to gun for anything....
I just got Lang snap ring plier set, it’s sweet, set of 3 sizes with removable tips. I’m gonna try some more of Langs pliers.
Only regret is not needing them as much as I would like lmao
snatched a pair of Knipex for $10 at a pawn shop! awesome! Also got most of the USA Irwins, never fail
I agree with you on the CT 8850 I am on my third, one blew trying to get a lug off of a small car!, and the 14.4 polisher! Those are absolute GARBAGE! $300 for drill bits is ridiculous! I am about to get a Milwaukee gun.
I definitely agree with all of these for me personally I won't buy any of the snap on cordless stuff I think its way to overpriced and much lower quality than most if not all of the cheaper competitors out there, if your looking for another solid starter button I would reccomend the OTC one the last one I had lasted forever and I just now bought a new one, also on tool truck drill bits mac will warranty theirs if they are broken so that's basically an endless supply of cobalt drill bits if you buy their set which I think is like 300 to 450 bucks a set depending on which one you get
Drilling holes through steel is an art
Snap On has some good stuff but totally agree with you Clay those products need to go and are not worth purchasing. As always you are 💯% right on the money!
Replace those 5 tools with Chicago Latrobe drills, Milwaukee cordless, Knipex, etc...,Lots of better choices for those 5 tools.
Thanks for the heads up. I couldn't part with the money for the impact and bought a milwaukee... pretty impressed with it.
Glad i watched this ive been out of work for a broken wrist and was planning on buying the polisher when i got back
Save your money and buy a pneumatic adapter or Milwaukee.
I know the feeling. Haha 🤣 those that don’t have one can’t understand that.
..because you are relieving some of the guilt you felt paying so much for it..you are making money with it when you are using it, thus helping justify the purchase.. :)
Love the honesty Clay! Keep up with these vids.
The drill bits are utter garbage. Couldn’t agree more
I fell for those garbage bits also. Everything was broke or dull in less than a year.
Thumbs up for being straight up honest.
Agree 100% on the 14.4 polisher. I used mine for 5 minutes polishing a wheel and the smoke pack started spewing.
Harlem D that tool is a POS!! My dealer had a box full of broken ones on his truck once, he doesn’t sell them anymore!
Koon Trucking
it just sucks because we all bought that tool based on snap on’s reputation, only to find out it’s a complete turd.
Thanks.
I believe Irwin is the original Vice Grips brand
I've got to agree with the battery impact. I've got one and in the past 3yrs I have sent it back 3 times for the no power. I'll just stick with air
My one Matco 1/2" drive was an I-R 2131. It was an excellent airgun.
Koon Trucking It just goes to show anything Man-made can be garbage.
@@donaldhollums3278 Yeah and just because it’s made in the USA doesn’t make it high quality or useful
I have a snap on box and a lot of snap on tools but I have put the m18 high torque head to head with the snap on m18 was lighter and stronger for the snap on price I bought 2 m18 guns and still had about 200 bucks left over
On the drill bits unless your drilling stainless you don't want 135 degree bits. Get you some 118 degree bits and have better luck.
Thought that it was ironic that the polished(TURD) was #2. Made me laugh 😂 Clay.
I was wondering why a friend/fellow mechanic left me his Snap on locking pliers in my box!🤔🤣
Good video. Surprised to hear about the drill bits. That kind of scratch buys some excellent twist drills.
U hit the nail right on the head brother! I have used each and everyone of em and I totally agree!!!!
I got my CT8850 for a steal so I’m not too down on it. Takes off everything i need it to but i also work on cars so I’m not really challenging it.
I do and my son, we both use the CT8850 for automotive lug nuts. Its pretty good for that. I don't think i paid 850. For it i bought it with the 3/8 gun and 3/8 ratchet combo.
Very spot on video. A co worker has the 18v 1/2" mpact and it is a gutless wonder. It's no better than my 1st gen DeWalt.
Gutless wonder hahaha man that’s funny. I will have to use that one ! Thanks for watching and taking time to leave a comment.
Starter switch, I got the heavy duty one, works better. The one u show is for cars. I love my cordless impact
Cordless 3/8 14.4V impact is amazing.
You're right about 1/2 inch impact I wish I would have known about the Ingersoll Rand impact before I bought this one I am disappointed because it won't even take off the infamous Honda Bolt even with the special socket it still takes about 10 minutes to break it loose
Three hundred dollar drills?
Buy Morse drills
I agree with all these. Thank you for sharing the truth. Good and bad with Snap On. Just because it says Snap On does not mean its always the best. I always enjoy your videos.
The cob penlight sucks too. I had a couple co workers who had issues out of them.
I got my ct8850 for $300 off list for the whole kit. Will take 33mm truck lugs off at 500ft lbs.... no complaints on it
I bought item number one and let me tell you I've already warranted them out and they are still junk, so now they are lost in a tool box drawer somewhere lol
It surprised me you hate the 1/2" impact , all my coworkers seemed to love it. I went with the dewalt to make it easy for myself in batteries.
Shoot that Milwaukee 2767 will twist the anvil smooth out of that 18 volt Snap On. Plus it’s way cheaper
Damn, now you tell me..! Already have the Impact and the prep tool.!!!!
Clay, The big lesson to learn from this video is that almost every item you mentioned is a power tool. Maybe Diesel and Auto Mechanics needs to do like us electricians and only buy Milwaukee, Ridgid, DeWalt and BOSCH power tools. ---just sayin'
2 out of 5 isn’t most.
I was waiting for the vise-grips to show up on the list. I don't own any of those but know now to not pick them up.
Those are the biggest waste of money on the tool trucks. You are better off burning a $50 at least then you feel the heat off it. That would be a much better way to spend that money. The Snap On locking pliers aren’t 1/10th of what any Erwin vise grips are.
You can tell by the look scrap pile material
The one thing I like about their locking pliers is the release tab. But that’s really it.
Mine were like magic. They would release by slipping on their own ! That’s what they were #1
You should have bought the Milwaukee m12 polisher that is a whole lot better
No way to know that polisher burns up multiple times. Hindsight is always 20/20.
I have the prep tool n have it for 3 month use it all the time works great no issues
I think the older ones are good ? I know some people that have had them a long time and had no issues with them. They had to have changed something inside them. Either the plastic they made the fan out of or the design
@@KoonTrucking I just use my polishing I some time have it on sec setting but 80% I use to polish... keep up the great video say hi bill n Wally
I have those locking pliers, only had to warranty them 4 times this year.
🤣 quality right there
I bought the Matco 1/2 impact and love it.
their whole battery line sucks.
Your Right!!! If a Professional buys Professional Tools He Only Expects Professional Performance
And Results....
@@dyer2cycle already did love them
8850 early version come with a different motor and often it run low on power.
Yep pure junk
Some really good drill bits I use are milwuakee drill bits went the 2 inch steel like butter I'm a steel worker they last a week with very heavy use worth the price
