- WAS IT WORTH THE PRICE??
I stayed in a one-star b&b in Blackpool to see just what the condition was of the b&b room for the money I paid.
The B&B was called THE MIDWAY based in Blackpool. After booking this b&b, I looked at the reverse online booking.com, and i started to regret booking the midway b&b / hotel.
I can say the midway b&b / hotel is making a lot of improvement to the rooms, but the most noticeable change is the bathroom.

It's probably not a 'hotel.' that's why alot of people hate AirBnB because people can rent out rooms like hotels but they aren't regulated the way actual hotels are. In the US people are getting tored of AirBnBs because they're getting expensive, there's curfews and strict rules and you have to clean all your sheets and towels before you leave so people figure hotels are the better and cheaper options.
Imagine a shock on the owners face when he walks into a he room and see’s it’s Squeeky clean 😂😂😂
They will think that they have won the lottery

I know Blackpool like the back of my hand. That block of boarding houses where you stayed where beautifully kept in the 60s each of those places had beautiful hanging baskets of flowers outside of them each trying to compete against each other. Facing them was a large coach terminal and it was very busy. It kind of makes me feel ashamed that you had to experience such pathetic conditions. I was brought up in the hotel business industry and my mother was obsessive about cleanliness and rightly so. Personally I like what you're doing and I sincerely hope you're channel has great success. 👍
I bet it does sadden you to see all the grot spots. Blackpool afte the re generation on the front is fab ! I live an hour away we always went every year, but you could see the demise behind the façade slowly happening. The Council are well aware I think it looks like they have given up trying to sort the grim areas out?
Oshiforb7445 Exactly me too, I remember Blackpool when it was a beautiful place, my Nan had a Pub in Preston and we visited my Aunt who ran a guest house in Blackpool, the atmosphere and friendliness of locals were amazing, we know several years ago it went down, but to see these guesthouses being sold cheaply and re sold rooms is disgusting, no repairs or cleaned still selling is shameful 😳
same I have lived in Blackpool all my life worked in the hotel trade for many years, my own personal pride would not allow me to sell that room to another human being. Truth is these slums are mostly used to house temporary homeless people, the owners dont care, sadly tourist's end up getting stuck in one and bring shame to the rest of the town.
I can tell you a nice place to stay in Blackpool the queens hotel ,been lots even this year always clean and lovely people working there

The place needs reporting to Blackpool Council and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, it’s not fit for habitation and I’m sure it doesn’t meet fire regulations

Places like this shouldn't be allowed to open , even the government recognised that the small boat people need 3 to 4 star hotels.

Exactly last year a 13 Yr old boy got killed by a dodgy plug socket. In a blackpool hotel.
Bogies on the wall made me feel sick . Shame to the person who did it . What state are there walls at home .
The weed smell is probably from one of the neighbours. My neighbour wakes and bakes and I can smell it from my bedroom.

Whenever we go to the UK we always try to save money by staying in the cheapest B&Bs. After all, it's just somewhere to sleep. You're out all day. This brings back so many memories. We always treated it as a laugh and a source of amusing stories to tell when we got back home to Australia. This is a great idea for videos. I've subscribed and can't wait for the next one.
Hopefully a motoway hotel next
I use an accountant in Blackpool, she was once telling me that none of the B&B's in the town make any money worth bothering with, looking at that hovel, I can see where she was coming from.

I have stayed in some disgusting and depressing hotel rooms ( like discolored pillow cases ) all over the US…..I never expected to see a similar room In Blackpool….seems like a nice coastal town with a nice beach as I looked at it more on google earth?
Blackpool seems very touristy.
People do disgusting things in US hotel rooms from shooting up drugs to….well I’ll just say some naughty and gross activities. lol

Blackpool is a low employment area, i think is the best way to put it. Most of its tourism would be from slighly higher employment areas. Its very dated.
Blackpool had its day, its now getting run down and less of a tourist area. Still younger people going for weekends and a good piss up as we call it.
Elderly people still go, my father pops down for the tram lights going on.
Not for most of us in our middle aged numbers. All the usual tourist trash that kids take home and ends up in the trash a week later.
Used to have some good fairground rides in the 70s/80s
Great first video, I live in Blackpool and slum hoteliers (Hotelier used very loosely) like these should be shut down. There is no place in our town for slums like this Blackpool is putting millions into the regeneration of the town to make it a better place to visit and live. They had their time in the 1960s and were lovely places back then, years of neglect and lack of care is what it boils down to. No one should have to spend a night is such a hovel they should not exist in 2023.

Surprised there was no hot water as that shower looked almost identical to the electric one we used to have, which heats the cold water up itself.

I always take antibacterial wipes with me to hotels and clean before I unpack! Also a pillowcase.

Dan, you are a brave,brave man for doing this. Not only do you clean the room but you stayed unit too. There is no way on earth I’d stay there. I’d rather be in mid up to my knees in the woods than stay there. Having said that I have liked and subbed and found it addictive viewing. Thank goodness you had your sleeping bag. I think you should thank your lucky stars that they didn’t include breakfast, it saved you from food poisoning ! One for your future visits, try the Grand Hotel in Llandudno at start of the pier, that’ll be an eye opener for you 😂

Blackpool used to be a great place to visit it has changed so much over the years and not for the better such a shame.

That room looks even worse than the worst rated hotel in Bournemouth that I stayed in (vid on my channel!), don’t think I could do a shared bathroom at my age!!

They dont have many paying guests its used as an emergency place for homeless people more than paying guests on holidays. It just be called a hostel and they not be allowed to advertise on websites to tourists, we have a few of them in Blackpool and they bring shame on the town.

The rooms need more than a clean, personally the hotels needs to be shutdown in my opinion. The hotel needs a revamp.

Surely the foam tiles on the ceiling are a fire hazard !! and the window is broke as well.... plus the glory of a boiler in your room bubbling all night. Would never be that desperate to stop there.

Grim mate! I'd rather sleep in a tent! You should have charged them for the improvements! :D Make sure you check for bedbugs, they are now on the rise all over the UK. You defo dont want to accidentally take them home!

You need to carefull of taking bed bugs home Dan they are a bugger to get rid of when you get them, they get in your clothes and bags, you should spray all your items before going home. I could not have stayed there

You should always bring 2 top sheets with you so you have one to lay on and one to put over you and 2 pillowcases
You know I love watching your other RUclips shows a camping but I'm not sure I can follow on this one because my job has been in a healthcare long-term facility and housekeeper and hotels on my life this is making me sick

i went to Blackpool in May stayed in Travelodge South Shore (was spotless) the whole area looked rough parts of it filthy its such a shame coz when in town etc the locals were so friendly i do think the council needs to clean these places up or at least shut these filthy places down
You can tell how good accommodation is by how much time you want to spend in it. In this case, I'd imagine you'd want to spend as little time in as possible. The compunction to want to go out for a walk along the beach/promenade would be quite strong, meaning less time spent in a fleapit glorified cupboard with a sink and a bed in it that stunk of weed.
I think a 5L can of petrol would clean that room about enough! 😂

The landlord would charge the fire brigade for their pleasure at putting the fire out. You'd still smell the weed over the petrol fumes by the sound of it too! I'd have been scratching myself all night thinking things were crawling on me 😱🫣

A hotel I can definitely recommend in Blackpool is Las Palmas hotel by the sea. I paid £159 for 7 nights and it was great, en suite shower room and beautifully clean. The staff are great there too. You have to pay a £50 deposit (cash only) in case of any damages but no problem getting it back.

Good luck with your new channel Dan. Should be fun. I accidentally stayed in Britain's worst hotel - aka the Nanford Guest House in Oxford. I think (hope) it's closed down now but the Trip Advisor reviews are hilarious. It was filthy dirty, rubbish laying around, used needles, cats urinated inside, a mouse was in my warderobe. Chewing gum on shower wall, light sockets hanging out. Mouldy windows which wouldn't open. A shower which scalded me. Rubbish under the bed. The landlord was incredibly rude. A few years after I stayed I found out an Oxford paedophile gang had been using the hotel to take their girls back to !! I turned the TV on one day to see the landlord being arrested. It was absolutely terrible. It's a pity you won't have the opportunity to see the Nanford as it really was the dirtiest hotel ever and you wouldn't believe it. Do read the reviews on Trip Advisor though - hours of entertainment. Wish I'd read them before I'd stayed.
Well at least the next guests will have a lovely clean and nice smelling fresh room...good on you for cleaning that grot spot 🎉 I was 🤮 even watching you !

The last time I went to Blackpool, you had to put a £1 in the TV. It lasted about 10 minutes. We went out and bought pillows, the hotel's were disgusting. Every time we came out of our room, the man was there. But he always had a different jacket on creepy. Plus it wasn't cheap. By 9 o'clock we were on our way home never again
