The newest project added to the fleet! A 1964 Mercury Comet Cyclone with a 289 V8 and T10 4 Speed Transmission and this one is heading to Willow Springs Raceway!
Oscar, that's a huge score. Been enjoying your FE videos and interior work. Very glad you got a hold of this Cyclone so it can be treated right and preserved.
Didn't know they made a Cyclone in 64. Looks like they didn't make very many. Cool find. Hope you keep all the original parts, fenders etc. Pretty rare car. Congrats!
Color wise I would stick with the color the Comet came with. If you want to go with another color choice, then pick a correct for that year optional factory color. Looks like an exciting future build.
My cousin Bongo had one of them, a Caliente with a built 289 Hi-Po and a 4 spd. When he came back from Vietnam in ‘70, he terrorized the neighborhood for a while. He had a high revving 289.
Oh Damn, I hate to hear about that 428! So When I was 16 I worked at a car lot and I wanted to by the 289 ci 4 speed 64 Comet Cyclone that was on the lot. I couldn't swing it, but I did get to drive it. So even as a Chevy guy, I still have a soft spot for these Comets. If you're going to race it, the color won't matter. That said, I still vote original color.
Congratulations! One year body style with a 4-speed, sweet ride. Ford sent some Falcons & Galaxies to the Monte Carlo rally in 64, so have at it! Would look evil painted black.
Such a great find. I’ve been looking for one too, to build into a track day car. I have all the running gear, but can’t find a decent two door to start with. Still looking…
Cool find Omar! I have a 68 Mercury Cyclone that’s getting rust repaired currently. Any 60’s Mercurys are getting harder to find. Depending on the rarity of the car it’s better to return it to being factory color & try to match the original numbers. On a different note, I’m curious what happened with your 428. I love FE’s & am working to build one of my own. 😅
I own a 65 cyclone and one of my favorite things about it is the badges on the car interior the steering wheel, and the door, mine appear to be different, but unfortunately you didn’t show these in the video
If that car truly spent a lot of time in Minnesota it survived really well. Those floor pans are minor! I live in NH so I can say first hand how bad salt is even on newer cars. I forgot how those bodies make the small blocks look even smaller compared to the sister Mustang. Must have an extended nose. I'm a massive fan of built out 289s especially if that one came with the wider mains/HiPo. They can really scream at Willow Springs for example LOL.
That green might be a rare color but I’m not a fan. Mercury did some weird stuff with colors back then. I have a 65 Park Lane in “Tiffany Blue” which is like a baby blue/turquoise. Since this car is going to be somewhat of a custom, and your car to take to the track, so don’t feel like you need to put it back to original color. Totally up to you.
Just so you know, Cyclones didn't come standard with a 4 speed. They actually came standard with a 3 speed manual on the column. And they could also be had with an automatic on the column. Judging by your car, with the clutch pedal, and that horrible looking hole in the floor, I am going to assume that your car was originally a 3 speed on the column car. If you still have the door data tag, it will tell you what you have.
HOLA OMAR TENGO MI COMET PERO .PODRIAS MOSTRAR COMO ES EL MECANISMO DE PALANCA AL PISO ..EL MIO LO TIENE EN EL VOLANTE LOS CAMBIOS PERO SE TRABA MUY SEGUIDO Y PIENSO QUE. LAS VELOCIDADES ENTRAN MAS DIRECTO CON. LA PALANCA AL PISO ...TE LO AGRADECERÍA MUCHO .GRACIAS.
SI PUEDES TE LO AGRADECERÍA MUCHO PARA DAERME IDEA DE COMO ESTA...Y VI QUE TIENES VÍDEOS DE YONKES EN MICHOACÁN ..YO ESTOY EN EDO.MEX. Y ESTOY LEVANTANDO MI. COMET..GRACIAS.

Thanks! This one definitely a sweet ride!
Very sweet ride. Gotta go with the green if it were me
Love the green!
I love that little Comet! ☄️ 🏁
The Little Lincoln!
Didn't know they made a Cyclone in 64. Looks like they didn't make very many. Cool find. Hope you keep all the original parts, fenders etc. Pretty rare car. Congrats!
Will definitely be keeping any parts, this stuff is hard to find here
Getting on to project overload Omar...GL
Nice. Love a 289! A always liked the mini Continental grill on these too.
Haha yes a little Lincoln!
Color wise I would stick with the color the Comet came with. If you want to go with another color choice, then pick a correct for that year optional factory color. Looks like an exciting future build.
You’re right! I’m kind of digging the black on it but we’ll see!
DAMN Omar!! What a solid example!!
Thanks! I think it’s going to be a sweet project!
Cool car for sure. Looking forward to the progress on this one as well!
You and me both!
My cousin Bongo had one of them, a Caliente with a built 289 Hi-Po and a 4 spd. When he came back from Vietnam in ‘70, he terrorized the neighborhood for a while. He had a high revving 289.
Hahaha that’s awesome!
Awesome car !!! Little jealous here 😂
I got a 289 and the same 4 speed sitting on my garage floor, videos like this make me go out and work on it
Go out there and fire it up!

Awesome car. I have been looking for a comet for a while. 👍
Glad I found this one, didn’t know it was a cyclone at first but definitely right place and time
Keep the original color. Looks like a cool green!
Cool car, man. Keep it as original as possible.
Nice find here, this kind of ride screaming Gasser 😄
Oh yeah!
Congratulations! One year body style with a 4-speed, sweet ride. Ford sent some Falcons & Galaxies to the Monte Carlo rally in 64, so have at it! Would look evil painted black.
I’m definitely leaning towards a slick black, that would be sweet!
Agree with most of the comment, but that turquoise would give the other guy that 🤔. Great car!
Cool score sir..

Yes they are getting harder to find!

Love the 68 cyclones! I almost bought one years back. I’ll be updating but it’s not very good unfortunately
Score!! I wish we could score those nice dry vwhicles here in Vt.
I’m just glad the quarter panels are perfect haha
If you're gonna keep it 289 four speed id recommend an early narrow pattern top loader much stronger and t10s by design pop out of second gear
I have heard about that with the T10, a toploader would definitely be perfect for this!
I own a 65 cyclone and one of my favorite things about it is the badges on the car interior the steering wheel, and the door, mine appear to be different, but unfortunately you didn’t show these in the video
Mine are all missing haha I’ll be gathering some parts for the comet soon!
“I still can’t believe it’s mine.” Now you’ve done it, hahaha.
Lol this will be the last for now until I get all of them running
@@OmarRamirezGalaxie Auto krafters has a lot of stuff for the comet
That car is fairly solid. 7500 cyclones for 1964. Id be interested in the front bumber
When you change to the plastic nose.
That’s pretty cool, didn’t know they made that many.
awesome car

Yes I’m glad the quarter panels are nice, I think the floor pans will be an easy fix. A screamer 289 would be sweet!
Way nicer project than the fast back Mustang you bought .. Good luck . Hope nothing really bad with the Galaxie ....
Haha yes this one’s a nice little project. The galaxie will have to continue, even with the problem. Really want to get it on the road!
You got that from my home state
Original color ftw sir.
IT’s cousin the 64 fairlane is what got me into fords my neighbor raced one 289 4 speed circa 1977-1980 left a impression on a 10 year okdy
Very cool! The 64 fairlane is definitely on my list hahaha
Use the back seat, Omar!
"check out that back end." :)
Hahahaha

8:00 FPS mode! Yes. the green!

Yes cyclones can be had with an automatic, I only have the vin, no door tag
pretty sure the cyclone's also came with auto's also
And three on the column. A factory T-10 car is a rare find.
