You are killing me with this video Rob!😂 It probably has a high volume oil pump in it which would explain the higher oil pressure. Idle is great, but 75psi+ just free revving is probably a little much. TA sells an adjustable oil pressure regulator which, if you don't have one already, is a cheap and an easy install.
Looks to me like a very nice car! While it's not all original, it's been put together very nicely. Someone put a part of their soul into the restoration of it with the tactful and discretionary measures taken. I'm thoroughly impressed and wouldn't take a moment's shame in owning it.
My best bud owned a 1972 Skylark in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Had a seriously built Buick 350 that roasted tires easily. What great machine it was to roam the streets in our university town. Good times, great cars.
I remember the old GS 400/455 and yes the GNX, each GM company had their own version of 'muscle cars'. Back then it probably ran 15 flat or something very close to that, i had a friend in the mid 70's that had a 70 SS 396/350 Chevelle with 331 gears and a 4 speed which was dead stock, barely got into the 14's. 13's at 100+ was pretty quick in those days
I'm over 50 and I kick myself every day that I didn't buy this or a similar year Cutlass earlier in my life. Trust me pal you didn't make a mistake. Hang on to that car it's as good as gold.
BIG MISTAKE??? You're kidding, right??? These cars are WAY COOL. Currently, I have a '69 GS 350/ram air I've owned for the last 15 years. I've owned 58 vehicles so far in my life, including about 20 muscle cars, and I'm NOT a CAR DEALER!!! Have had several GM A-Bodies over the years...Skylarks/Chevelles/Novas/ Cutlass/1st gen Monte Carlos etc... Every bit as nice as a Chevelle/GTO/ or Cutlass, but BUICK is more luxurious and often can be had for MUCH LESS than their other GM Cousins!!! This one you have here is definitely a nice looking one, even as a clone (EVERYONE throws "SS" badges on ANY Chevelle/Camaro and Nova you will ever see for sale!!)This just looks like a fun car!!! How much are you going to ask for it??? Just curious...Thanks!!
@georgegbalzano9239 lol I absolutely love the car the big mistake was me buying it to flip lol. It's a really good car I've been a fan of these buicks for many years
I think the reason for the oil pressure is because the oil passages were too small from the factory. If that engine was rebuilt without those passages being redone, that might why pressure seems high.
Cool Buick man. I’d be curious what it would do on a chassis dyno before and after the bigger exhaust and improved intake ect. Headers are cool but after watching the cars in the FAST series drag racing doing 9s or 10s WITH exhaust manifolds is insanely impressive. They are usually stroked and have big roller cams but still! Either way sweet Buick!
Is it going to be another candidate to give Nick Southgate a call at Maple motors? I could see them grabbing this for the right price definitely putting a markup on it.
Most people here comment about their dad, neighbor, cousin, best friend etc HAD a Buick GS at some time.. WELLL I didn’t know anyone that had a Buick GS . I’m 74 years old, I guess I’ll keep looking .
Get that HV oil pump out of there. IT WILL tear up the cam gear, distributor gear, and the oil pump gears will eat into the timing case. The extra strain from the HV pump will cause the camshaft to walk when giving it gas(especially when floored). Thats what causes the gears to eat into the timing case, thus reeking havoc on the other parts.
wow, please don't comment, you know nothing, been racing 45 years and use melling high volume pumps, never had a problem, why do you want all your oil in your valve covers when you have too much pressure under high revs? they pump at 25 lbs at idle and go up to 50-60 depending on your clearances, you want volume not pressure.
@@west4057 Maybe it had something to do with the pumps and T-cases coming from TA Performance back in the 90's. It happened to me twice. 70 GS skylark. Car was a daily driver, highway geared, and near boneyard stock. Sold it YEARS ago. I know about the volume over pressure. Thats why I went the HV route. Put the stock set up back in and never had that problem again. I had also installed the lifter galley bypass line. Not sure if that ever did as intended.
Very nice! I had a 69 GS 400 about 9 years ago. Black on Black and white interior. Loved that car! Wish I still had it.
I don't see it as a big mistake. Nice ride!

I had a '71 Skylark. It drove so good but it kicked butt. Those were the days.
Great car man! I had a 72 skylark when 17! 350 but it always got me to and from.. But I sold it after 6mo ths of driving. Really good old car!
You want to quit closing the doors by using the windows, asked me how I know😂

Big mistake? It's beautiful!
Big mistake because he buys to flip but he has fallen in love with it lol.
My dad bought a 68 new. We travelled all over the country in it.
Awesome Buick! Thanks for posting!
nicest car ever seen. it took a lot of work to get it in shape. nice car. enjoy it!!!
Nothing wrong with clones...cars you can have more fun with
That baby deserves a Pioneer Supertuner!
Nice car!! sounds healthy too!

1972 GS's had rectangular cutouts for exhaust however I can't say for sure if it was on all GS models or Stage1's or what. Neat look.
N25 bumper is what you’re referring to. It was a option

I would love to have the manifolds ported to flow better
I remember my 68 Buick sky lark rootbeer brown metal flakes

😅
@truckerkevthepaidtourist I am thinking of talking to them. Those guys are a pleasure to deal with and always give me my asking price.
Correction: good mistake. Sweet ride.
No way you could drive a real 72' GSX, that is very rare car.
They are going north of 100K!
The big mistake is no 4 speed trans.
Great. I had a black one in the 90s.

I like it.
Ditto on the last comment. This car’s rear end is classic. Spoiler reeks.
Motors are electric. Engines are gas..😢
I always heard that style of shifter called a "horseshoe shifter"
and I think he sold it to Maple Motors in Hendersonville Tn. along with a 1966 Tempest due to a house fire. Hope all is good.

What’s the “big mistake part”?
@@DuaneSeidr I say it in the video.
No trailer hitch.
It’s nice 😊
Sounds like a Q-Jet :)
It does
he said it had an edlbrock.
@@west4057 It still sounds like a Q-Jet
What is the mistake????
What cha want for it???
Took you long enough to do a video on this car!!!
Ditch the stripe and spoiler.
Spoiler looks like butt! Landau is wimpy, too. I have '67 drop top....probably trade ya'
Why would you sell that beauty....clone or not.
ruclips.net/video/4A5Bj9qMMIE/видео.htmlsi=_SkWcTFSlOHWvn2D glad there is some Buick power back in that garage!
I grew up driving one.how much man.come on please.
I'LL TAKE IT OFF YOUR HANDS!!!
It’s called a horseshoe shifter.
Skylark is a better looking car than Chevelle in 72, behind the gto . Sorry olds you come in last place
Do not care for the wing
First like !!!
LOL
Those Buicks in that era were oil burners. Hurst scheme?
