    Thanks Ron, @UCFnhdh4Hj78gtRtreOR9OzQ ..I took the plunge and bought this little magic box in the used market...absolutely love the sound and the aesthetics..That Dirac is a great addition..it makes the bass so much better in my room(I listened without and had my ears constantly blocked..now I don't )..and all that in 15 mins..no moving the sub from corner to corner!
    It is not the laid back sound of my 1st NAD product back in those days,Direct digital C390DD...these amps do come alive..Also small design details like play after pause of songs doesn't blare but ramps up..Nice. or the amp standby and instant wake up..no switching on 4 boxes to listen to music..Nicer. Great video above ..(y)

    • @shuckylad
      @shuckylad 4 года назад +1

      Joao Roman I ended up using the internal amp of the m10 due to the built in software of the m10 volume limited the actual power/volume of the power amps. The ps audio stellar 300 was nice tho. I’ve since sold the m10 and purchased a Hegel h120. Different class audio wise.

      Stuart Shuck oh, so with a power amp connected to the m10, u cant use the power amp to its full potential?

    • @shuckylad
      @shuckylad 4 года назад +1

      Joao Roman yes in my experience. The volume is definitely restricted by the BluOS software. Obviously if you have very good sensitivity speakers you won’t have a problem but with my Harbeth p3’s @83db I could max it out on quiet recordings. Dirac live also reduces the max volume to.

      Stuart Shuck ye 83 is low enough.. maybe bi amping could be the best solution there, if adding another amp to the M10

    Ron I bought this because of this review 4 months ago and love it. It's in my TV room with Xbox and the Bluesound Vault and the speakers are the Carnegie Acoustics Davanti I got from GR Research and Hsu 15 Subwoofer. In my main room I have the Parasound Halo A23 and P3 preamp with XLS ENCORE speakers and Bluesound Node. Let's not discount the fact this NAD uses hypex ncore for the amplifier and that's nothing to be sneezed at. The performance is so high that it can be very revealing and give the impression you think it's has flaws but it's the recordings, then once you get a good recording your jaw will drop.
    I don't yet own the M10, but have hypex ncore and a nad m51 DAC which I've been very happy with.

    I've had mine for a couple months. Dirac is amazing. Takes it too another level and piece of mind that any new speaker (or power amp) I get I will use Dirac specifically for it getting the 'most' out of it. I Looking forward to trying a tube amp with it. But I do love the SUPER simple functionality. I just tap play on my Roon app (or blusound) and the music plays. No turning on anything. I press pause and it'll shut off on its own. That means a lot because I like to have music on even if I'm not in my listening position. It gives me everything.
    I could get a switcher for the Tube amp, that way I only use it for listening position time.
    Hifi is about listening to music and enjoying the heck out of it and for now at least, this gets me there with all the ease, function with pretty damn good sound quality. And the option to upgrade sound with the tube amp, upgrade speakers and even hire that Dirac software consultant to really dial it in (can also use a higher end mic in setup). The form and function are too good to ignore for real-life living rooms.

    Dirac live is definitely the best room correction software out there! I just wanted to say I have their M17 V2 in my system and oh my gosh is that a beast. P.s. Dirac live works better with the more speakers you have set up as it uses multiphase adjustments. Oh yeah, and I love that ice cream analogy it really made me laugh.

      I just remembered, dirac live can't fix everything when your speakers have a passive crossover as phase relationships change which is why I built my entire setup out of 3.5" BMR speakers in cabinets I designed. I use the same driver and cabinet for all 11 channels so I get that seamless panning and to allow for dirac live to do what it does best.

    I'm a few months into M10 ownership now. Its replaced a Yamaha RN602 and before that a Yamaha N5600. So I've been on the net streamer bandwagon for a few years now. Yamaha provide good value, but the streaming environment is nowhere near as evolved as BluOS. And the sound quality of the RN602 is not in the same league as the M10. At a different price point mind, but the I feel the M10 represents much better value, despite the significantly gap in cost.
    No doubt there will be a move by many into this space in future, but right now, I believe the M10 is close to the ultimate expression of the lifestyle net streamer of all the products I considered based on its all round performance, not one or two highlights. It sounds great, has plenty of power, Dirac elevates the sound further, pretty much all the music ever made is at your fingertips, all in a tiny package. How could it possibly be better?
    Worth pointing out an M10 update has been announced. It adds a remote, some additional channels which required a different DAC, some other bits and pieces including a correction to the way the sub out works in what look to be mainly software updates. Its not been reviewed yet, but one wonders if this if an upgrade or simply feature creep.

    Ciao Ron. Interesting review. Was looking forward to it. It would be nice to hear to what you d compare it and what are the better sounding alternative for the price if you know any. I think only Naim has something similar with less watts which can strangely sound more punchier. I have owned the M10 for a year now, I was lucky enough to buy it off from a friend at 1100 usd and it replaced a combo pc+Audiolab DAC+nuforce power amp which in fact new wouldn t cost you less and didn t sound nearly as good + it wasn t so practical either. Here in Hong Kong when you pay premium for space this is a fantastic solution, practical and great sounding if you think how many components it replaces. Zero fidelity described the sound very well so I won’t go into it. I saw a review on stereophile and this little toy of an integrated amp benched 300watts per channel instead of the conservative 100w Nad rates. I recently paired it with the new wharfedale evo 4 series, the tower 4.3 to be precise, which to me are the new elac debut of this class and sounded better to my ears than speakers up to 2 times the price. Hope you can check out the wharfedale even though I m not sure whether they sell them or not in the US.

      Savan Panchal I think they pair well with the Nad being it extremely neutral. The separation and clarity are great with this amp and so is the bass control. It can sound a bit dry with voices though and a bit too “polite” , given the extremely high amount of power it benched that came as a surprise to me. I m very happy of the purchase but if you like extremely warm midrange (which our speakers already offer) I d suggest to check out the Naim or the Hegel.

    Why aren't these higher-cost units with bigger displays not using OLED? I can't stand the light bleed/ not untrue black displays. There is a lot of wasted display space that remains (black/ no light) unused. It makes it just look cheap and like an amazon echo device(cheap-looking). (LOOKS) For the price of this, I'd hope they used OLED and not TFT. IT would have made this display disappear into the all black gloss bezels wouldn't you think?

    It's a nice device but I see it more as a lifestyle product (in the Sonos vibe) than an audiophile product. Who's the potential buyer of this NAD?? Average Joes who want "simple integrated things" will never pay $3k for an audio device so this NAD is clearly not for them. People like us who are used to pay thousands of dollars for an audio device (audiophiles) don't care too much about "simple integrated things" and even less about "lifestyle" products so this NAD is not for them either. The only market left is rich people... rich people love expensive lifestyle products like this NAD, yes... but they don't give a s*** about NAD!!! They want Sonos, Bang&Olufsen, Apple and that kind of trendy/luxurious brands... so... what's the market for this NAD?

      With that attitude young people will never get into hi-fi. They want lifestyle products like this. I've gotten both my son and daughter into music. When my daughter moves out, I am sure she wouldn't buy a system like I have. Not to mention the space that's needed.
