Here’s an interesting add onto that when I was in London I think in 1973 anyway I was there with Ernie Ball son the guy who makes like a guitar strings and we were Top Gear music on Denmark Street so in walks mac Ralph’s and the owner says hey Scott this is mac and I was a huge fan of this song and also some of the songs on Mad Shadows their second album Anyway it wasn’t a huge deal but mixer do you want to come over to my flat and have a cup of tea and of course I was incredulous that he would ask and so we went down to his incredibly flat spotless little underground apartment that was below street level and had a cup of tea and talked for a while and then I left but that was one of the special special things that I remember about being in London during that era it was a magic time to be a music lover
I hear lots of heart-felt love expressed from Mick's guitar. He is one of the best guitar players I've ever heard, and influenced me, I am very good at playing guitar, with his influence, all the better! And I'm just a ... .
Brings back memories. I purchased this album about 4 years after it came out and I liked its raw groove. Still like the Rock n' Roll Queen jam and why not? It has raw Rock n' Roll energy overdubbing not withstanding. I purchased 3 of their first 5 albums and this although the first was my favorite. Raw energy. Nice. Some bands cheat you with commercial crap. Too bad. when that happens. Thanks to Mott The Hoople. By the way, No one will ever stick me to one genre of music because I like: Rock metal Jazz Folk Blues Soul Disco. All music can be good if it meets a crescendo quality and it makes you feel good! British Boogie.
Listen woman you needn't look so stupid when I call your name out loud Cause everybody thinks you're a sweet smelling girl with intelligence And you know how I wouldn't want anyone else to know About the way you really are You're just a rock and roll queen You know what I mean And I'm just a rock and roll star Listen woman you needn't go to bed with everybody that you meet Cause everybody thinks you're a sweet little girl with intelligence in Your feet I wouldn't want anyone else to know About the way you really are You're just a rock and roll queen You know what I mean And I'm just a rock and roll star Alright! You're just a rock and roll queen You know what I mean And I'm just a rock and roll star
great song from a legendary group. i remember when i buy the single in italian records shop. the b side it's another great song called "road to Birmingham". ciao, dudes...
Pete Townshend, and probably the entirety of the Who, admired the Hoople, very much so. I've seen Pete in the audience... for one, All the Young Dudes for example +
I never get tired of this song. I actually got to hold the Les Paul that Mick played on this track. It was very cool for me.

Its astounding that this song was recorded in 1969.
Mott the Hoople freaking rules !!!!
Greetings from America's North Coast. Cleveland rocks -- well, sorta. WMMS FM and Ian Hunter -- memories...
Greatest guitar solo and Overend's bass is bubbling just under it. Sublime.
You're right, Overend steps up in a beautiful way, right during the solo
While Manchester was stomping, Hereford was rocking...One of my favorites, and a classic indeed...
Rock and Roll doesn't get much better than this.
yes it does.
@@chilimacsting No it does not
@@keb6213 yes it does
One of the most underrated songs in the history of rock. Controlled chaos for 3 minutes. Sung by a genius and produced by another one (Guy Stevens).
And written, by yet another genius. (Mick Ralphs)
Mott lives forever . . .
Vinyl series brought me here. Kickass song love it

British Boogie.
Give it up. This is f*cking great.
Pure rock'n'roll !!!
Arguably, the best song they ever did, albeit not the most popular.
This tune has faded into obscurity, sad to say.
I've always loved it and wasn't around for it. My Dad used to go and see Mott in the Island era.
Listen woman you needn't look so stupid when I call your name out loud

I once got to hold the Les Paul Mick Ralphs played on this track.
A great band to boot.
made to be played loud, 'you just a rock and roll queen you know what I mean I'm just a rock and roll star'

Yeah
I remember this
first time i heard thisI thought of the Kinks
Fucking brilliant
Its got a Who vibe to it. The guitar riff sounds just like a Who song that I can't think of.
The song is "A Quick One While He's away". And, yeah, the notes and timing are nearly identical. Still a great song though.
Funny. Ian said Bitch by The Stones was a bit of a copy of RnR Q.
Who's on first
Pete Townshend, and probably the entirety of the Who, admired the Hoople, very much so. I've seen Pete in the audience... for one, All the Young Dudes for example +
Fantástico.
最高!!
Sweet must have based their Rock And Roll Disgrace on this tune.
thx
First there was mott.....then came oasis
