Huh. I remember a relative of mine falling outside a CVS, hitting their head on the concrete, then sadly dying.
We all mourned them but we never in a million years thought a giant memorial outside that CVS should be erected. It was a tragedy for our family. But it didn't effect the nation.
Oh. But I guess you don't matter in america unless you are CEO. I guess that is what we need to take away from this story. Made complete by the way the CEO also ignored average people.

This is also why corporate political leaders give them so much access, because they can't really die off when they're given so many free scoops, "leaks" and interviews. Sam literally said Lennon was a symbol of peace, just not the leader of a movement. Which is just true. John and Yoko sang that song plenty of times. You remember that day in particular because there was also a movement, not just the symbol. Dude lived another 13 years, almost making it into Reagan's time staining the Oval Office. He remained a symbol throughout but never led a political movement. Which is fine. He was obviously hugely important, anyway. But he was clearly better grouped with Bob Dylan, Kendrick Lamar, etc. than with Ella Baker, Ralph Nader, etc.

    Imagine there’s no health coverage

    No reason to pay out
    According to our AI
Imagine all the people dying day after day
    Imagine there’s no public options
    It isn’t hard to do
    Nothing for health or recovery
    And no prescriptions too
Imagine all the people living life in pain, ooh, ooh
You may say I’m a schemer
But I’m not the only one
I know you’ll never join us
And health will be gone for everyone
    Imagine no assets
I wonder if you can pay
No concern for greed or poverty
    A subjugation of man
Imagine all the rich people owning all the world, ooh, ooh
You may say I’m a schemer

The people who leave flowers for a victim of violence typically feel kinship of some kind with that person. They may be members of the same class. Or they share a love of music, peace or equality for all. They may come out of gratitude, as they did for Diana and FDR. Often poor, they nevertheless bring flowers if only a single rose. Nothing prevents other CEOs, healthcare executives and rich investors from leaving flowers. This is a class of people who can easily afford flowers and could hire someone to deliver them if they are busy or afraid. But, there are no flowers for Thompson. What that REALLY says is this: Fellow members of his predatory class of capitalists have no empathy for him. They valued him only for the money he brought them. When elites rail against his murder--or send someone to do it for them--it's not because they care about Thompson. Being narcissists, they care only about themselves and worry that, as a woman warned, they may be next.
