VW GOLF MK7, Thanks for the video on removing the trim from the tailgate, to pull that trim away you need arms like Jack Dempsey. If you had not pointed out sequence of removal, l’d still be doing it. Alan

Question for you. I have rust at the bottom of the cutout / cavity the handle is installed in. Can I access the backside of the metal once I remove the handle? Wasn't obvious from your video whether there was another piece of plastic that needs to be removed first, and if so, how difficult that removal is.

The part where the handle is mounted is glued+welded to the outer panel of the tailgate. so there are 2 parts.
But if you want to fix it, you'll have to disassemble it anyway. then you can see if there is anything else you can do
